Hi Ladies, thanks for the reply regarding the pads.. I made notes

does anyone have tips on what I can do in terms of infection. I'm in so much pain.. I can barely walk. the Dr will probably only again give me citro soda - which I already have a box of. Will the infection have any effect on baby? I googled and it seems as if some type of infections can have an effect.. but you know Google.. always giving you the worst scenario.

hehehe, Dearhel, i can only see your fiance's face looking at that nappie. they are just so incredibly small. i myself was in disbeleif when i saw that nappy and even my big baby fitted nicely in then for a whole 2 weeks.

wide eyes - bennets have a very nice sunscreen and then i also have the Xeroderm (SPF40) one for babies (dischem or baby city) that i really like, i will stick to that one.

pads - i used the pack of hospital pads, then 2 packs of the cariwell maternity pads then only started using the always night ones.
i am one of the unfortunate souls that really had a crap load of bleeding afterwards and the always night ones would not have worked for me straight away. but yes they are great after about 4-5 days
so its difficult for me to say, as you are not going to know beforehand how much you are going to bleed. maybe go by you normal period, if you usually have a heavy period, be ready with some maternity pads and show hubby how they looks if he needs to go buy some more. if you usually have a very light period, maybe you can skip the maternity pads.
bleeding after birth is like your usual period times 10.

bottles - if you are going to be bottle feeding exclusively you are going to need 8-10 bottles to be comfortable and not worry about washing and sterilizing after every feed.
if you are going to be breast feeding then i would say 2 or 3 would be perfect, for the odd occasion that you will want to used a bottle

Sounds like everyone had an awesome weekend.

We didn't go to the expo. I've been to a few other expos, and they're usually much too crowded for my liking. I'm really not fond of big crowds, add in a preggy belly... Nope Nope Nope. Not going there!

We did go shopping with my sister. Finally found some beautiful cot linen that wasn't too pricey! Got a nice bouncy chair, cot mobile and so on.
All that's left is nappies, toiletries and vests/babygrows.
Think I'll wait till after the baby showers, then buy whatever I'm still short.
Ohhh also still need bottles, but was really not sure what to buy or how many, as I'd really rather breastfeed as much as possible.

Any advice on bottles? How many will I need or any specific make you ladies recommend?

Our 4D is next week Friday, and I'm more excited about that than the gynae visit.
Congrats on your little man's first steps. Such a precious moment!

I missed my older daughters' very first steps, as they both decided to start walking at the daycare centre. I remember being so very upset when the daycare mother told me that I started crying.

I was actually also wondering what pads to get. If I remember right I used Always Ultra Night right through with the older girls, and they worked pretty well. At least I wasn't changing every hour!
Was thinking of getting the same, but then I wasn't sure if there wasn't something better on the market by now.. I mean 11 years is a long time!!
(and for those who've seen them, don't even bother with DR White's... personally I had to change every 15 minutes with them and it was awful!)

I weighed myself over the weekend...... and was shocked... I've put on 12kg's already.
I read somewhere that on average women pick up around 500g a week in the last 3 months...
So I'll be on around 18kgs by the end (if not more)...
Eish! is all I can say!

Ohh yeah.. nearly forgot. I found the Huggies New Born nappies with the umbilical cord gap this weekend (been searching everywhere!).
Had to smile at DF. He opened up the pack when we got home, took one out and stared at it. He was all like "are you sure a baby is this small? It looks like it should be on a doll?" Bless him!

Yup, Ctelly, I was also at the expo, though also went on Friday when it was a little less hectic. I bought loads of Huggies nappies (I know, I should have waited, but they were pretty much half price! Just couldn't resist it - the thought of going shopping the first few weeks after baby is born was too much!) Also bought bepanthan and lansinoh and a dummy, carriwell bra (Woolies doesn't stock my size), Angelcare bin refills and some toiletries (thermometer, nasal aspirator, etc) - I think in the end I spent a small fortune! Hopefully anything I get duplicates of at baby shower is exchangeable!

Hmm, I can't say I'm excited about the maternity pads - would the Always Ultra Night sanitary towels not work just as well? They lock in more moisture and leave you less sticky, no?

Aww, Stella, that's so special! That's a big milestone he's just reached Gosh, and he's already keeping you so busy - you're going to get some major workouts now

Does anyone know what sunscreen is recommended for babies?

unfortunately not. it came so suddenly and so unexpected i didnt even had a camera close.
it was just so cute.

don't worry, alot of that will be gone after his birth. hehe, enjoy the excuse to just let go a little bit while still pregnant.
i have now gained 10kg's so already doing much better than with G, but then again, he is keeping me so busy that i cannot just sit or ly down and snack on everything.

aaawh!! that's so great Stella, were you able to capture the moment on video? one of these days you'll have to keep a close eye on him being mobile

I'm wearing the Woolies one today and must say its really comfy.. it also has a clip infront for easy access. just wasn't a good mental exercise buying them.. I cant believe how big I've gotten My treadmill awaits..
I've tried to post photos in the past but I'm doing something wrong.. I keep getting an error message.

o and yes, the woolies bra's is much more comfy for me as well
