Good morning ladies,

ctelly, that will definately depend on yourself.

for me we only got a cot and really never felt that we needed a camping cot as well. for the first 8 months if we traveled G just slept in his pram. then he learned to pull himself up so i felt its not safe for him in the pram and he will fall out if he stands up in the pram and i don't get to him soon enough. so now he just sleep on the floor on a pillow if we travel.

a lot of my friends just got the camping cot instead of a wooden cot and then have it if the need to travel.

we stay over at my parents place quite often, and when he started to pull himself up, they got a comping cot for him there.

so i would say you only need one or the other, not neccessary to have both.

for me, a carry cot was completely unnecessary. money wasted. baby will outgrow it within 3 months. i didn't buy one, but then friends borrowed us theirs and i really only used it once. we are going to have summer babies, so i thing they are going to get to warm in a carry cot.

i am very pro baby wearing, so for the occasions when i need to put him down, i'll just put him in the pram.

but i also have friends that felt their carrycot was a must have item and really used theirs. but they also put baba in the carrycot and then the carrycot in the pram (which doesnt really make sense to me )

for me a carrycot might make more sense for a winter baby
(G was essentially a winter baby and i never felt i needed a carrycot)

Ctelly, we just got the Chelino 6in1 cot. It comes with a carry cot, which can be attached via straps inside the cot so that it rocks, has 2 mattress levels for when baby gets a bit bigger and starts standing up, mosquito net, wheel base and changing mattress.
My mum bought us a pram... No idea what make it is at the moment. I've gone totally blank! I know it's one of the jogger prams (the ones with 1 wheel at the front) and has a detachable car seat.
Nice thing is, now I can use my Discovery Vitality voucher on a bigger seat for when baba is older.

I had no real preferance, but my fiance insisted that they show him exactly how everything is set up and dismantled... I think he spent an hour in the shop with the sales people making them unbox the cot he wanted, and set it up, then take it apart and put it back in the box! (and I'd just sent him in to find out if it came in pink, as the one we'd seen was blue! )

Thanks Stella - we will have a look at them at the expo. Looking forward to the expo so far the nursery is painted.. and empty..

Is a camping cot really necessary, and also a carry cot ?

Ctelly, the joie range is also very good.
we got the Joie stages car seat which is the only one my hubby deemed sturdy enough and really safe enough.
my hubby is also very obsessed about how things are built and what materials are used.

happyface, big hug to you with all those cramps. its not nice if they are so low so early. i know the feeling.

we got the PregPerego P3 traveling system. i'm very happy with it and i use it alot. i can definately recomend it.
we only used the car chair till he was 5 months as he just got to hot in it, but it would have been the same issue with any other small car chair.
he did much better in the bigger seat as their is much better airflow.
G is a very warm blooded boy so we had lots of challenges over the summer with him getting to warm

Hallo Happyface - I normally burst out in laughter when I can't walk, I've had the hip twist feeling.. haha. a warm bath / shower tends to help me.

Hats off to the ladies that get unpaid maternity leave..its so unfair how one company treats people nice and others don't?

Regarding the pram.. my husband is a tech-freak and I love him for that. whenever we need to buy stuff, whether its a washing machine or now baby stuff - he googles and reads forums before making decisions. His conclusion so far is that the Joei pram set isn't bad, he is also keen on the Graco prams. We'll buy one of the travel sets (pram with detachable car seat) and then a 2nd car seat. This is only his opinion gathered from other people.. we don't have "hand-on" experience.. haha

Ctelly, i am very pro-creche. in my opinion if you do not know someone personally i will not leave my baby with them. with a nanny, you have no idea what they do at your house or if they invite friends over. or what do you do when a nanny just doesn't pitch.
unfortunately some very close friends of ours had very bad experiences with nannies and highly paid Aupairs.
at a creche the are always more than 1 adult, the have a set program the follow to stimulate the babies and the have inspections by governing bodies. if a teacher is sick, their are others that stand in.
well this is my personal opinion anyway. i know there are some moms that are very happy with their nannies, but for me the risk was just to big to get someone i do not know personally.

my lb school is R2600 and it includes 4 meals a day, also includes kindermusiek. they do so much activities with them and really focus on each baby individually regarding their development.

hehehe, Dearhel, that is the irony o life hey. i can only see that he will really start to have good night more regularly now that i get up more and more at night.
