ok cool, send me the details when you can. It's worth looking into.

My next appt is only on 16 April, will be 18 weeks then. Last time she was 95% sure that we're having a boy, looking forward to having the official confirmation :woohoo:

I will send you links/details once i find out.
My cuz is an Opthamologist so he is going to send me details which i will forward on to you... :)

i also thought that the placenta just gets destroyed after birth. No use for it but if it can save a few pairs of eyes or help in any way, why not donate it.. its free to donate. They just runs tests on it then extract the tissue they need. Its actually pretty amazing. I googled and found some uses for it as well.

when is your next appointment? Mine is next week on the 8th. i cannot wait!!

That's so stressful!

My best friend works in the manufacturing industry and they are also battling to survive. But even in a corporate environment, where I am, there are constantly cut-backs that makes you wonder if you'll be laid off eventually.

I never knew that you could donate your placenta, I wouldn't mind donating mine if I knew where it was going. Where do we find more info?

Thanks DieSwartKat...

I work in the construction industry and am qualified etc. i was with the best construction company in the country when i was head hunted and made an offer that was pretty much life changing in so many ways. i decided to take it and now this company is struggling. i am beating myself up about it because i should of just stuck with my previous very secure firm. i feel sooo stupid and angry with myself for doing this!

i cannot wait for this year to just end and then next year it will be back to normal..

tell me, would you consider donating your placenta for medical use? eg they use tissue from the placenta in eye surgeries etc. it can save up to 60 peoples eyes...?

Hi TCS84,

I'm sorry about your work-situation, that is so stressful. In our household I contribute 45% to the income, so if I lost my job we wouldn't survive. UIF is a drop in the bucket!

I found with my daughter that she didn't cost too much money in the first few months, basically nappies and formula milk. She was on formula very early on and that was an unexpected expense because I had planned to breastfeed. They only really start costing money once mommy has to go to work and daycare becomes a reality. All in all, I'd say we spent about R1000 on baby expenses for the first 4 months, we didn't buy too much clothes because she grew so quickly. And people give you lots of stuff too. That's excluding Paed visits and vaccinations, which were covered mostly by the medical aid.

Stem cell storage was never an option for us, just too costly. It's a very nice idea and I agree with it 100%, but not something that is within our means.

Hi Die swart Kat

Im sorry you are still feeling ill. So unpleasant but try visualizing ur baby boy in ur arms and im sure it will make it better to bare.
Morning sickness has got to be the worst thing ever huh?!
I am still on asic for the last 2 weeks as a preventative so once it stops i HOPE and PRAY nothing shows its face..
My appetite has been good. im eating and i havent checked weight gain but it is what it is...

i have been somewhat stressed as my company will probably be liquidating and finding a new job is not easy as i am pregnant. i dont know wat to do really.. surving the rest of the year with only one salary is going to be tough and especially since there is a new mouth to feed. i had dreams and visions of doing my best for my child and it seems like the first few months will be hard until i find a job next year...

How is everyone doing? its very quiet here compared to other due date months... :/

question: is anyone considering stem cell storage?

Morning all,

Happy Monday to all!

Nothing new on my side, felt very sick & dizzy at work again, I had a really good week last week and only threw up twice. This week is starting badly, I hope this is an isolated incident because I was starting to feel positive last week.

My colleague had a baby boy last week, she's been sending me pics every day and he is the cutest thing ever! I've forgotten how cute and cuddly newborns are, when I look at his photos I just want to squish him, he's so adorable. Seeing him has made me feel a little bit better about my sick-days, it really gives you something concrete to look forward to.

How are you all doing? A short week, at least
