Oh Kiara,

That's Horrible.. she should really stop! You should maybe tell her in a kind nice way that its scaring you and you would like her to stop? I dont know her but she really should give it some more thought...

Earth child has such beautiful stuff!!!

is the baby expo in JHB only or coming to DBN?

Kiara everything is going to be perfect with your baby so dont stress out over her thoughts and fears.... just take it as it comes. one day at a time. if you feel the urge to buy another blanket then go for it...

I agree. A friend of mine is also going full on cloth, but I can't see myself doing it. Disposable all the way.

TCS84, I get it. I guess I would feel the same way too.

I bought 2 baby grows and a blanket from Earth Child, and socks plus a blanket from Woolies. I couldn't help myself.

I'm also going to the Baby Expo in May and made hubby promise that I could buy (within reason) stuff I would need. I'll be over 20 weeks, so hopefully I'll be good.

A lady here at work lost her baby at 17 week last year and she keeps reminding me of what happened to her, so it's really freaking me out, that's why I'm needing these kicks. She keeps saying" You're at exactly the point where I lost my baby." I empathise with her, but I wish she would stop...

I think after 20 weeks it should be okay..
after i see the fetal specialist and the paed cardiologist , im sure all will be okay...

i just hope nothing else can creep in after 20 weeks ...
i think i will buy a babygrow. ur right... i mean its not a trainsmash to shop before the baby is born.
I have the cot because i bought that for the first pregnancy and i was 18 weeks when my mum bought it and at 20 weeks all hell broke lose. so its still in its box all sealed up...

my sis in law was buying stuff before even trying for a baby and not its 4 years of trying and no luck at all..

TCS84, I can understand why you'd be scared to start buying, given your history. But I'm sure once you reach 20 weeks things will be ok?

I'd go and buy a little baby grow now, it'll be good for your soul. It's less than R100.

And I would so NOT allow anyone else to do the baby shopping! It's part of the excitement, it's a privilege that belongs to you, they've had their turn.

Haven't felt any movement yet, can't wait! I think then I'll really be excited. I have a slight baby bump already, but other than feeling sick I haven't felt pregnant. Some movement from him would really help

I'm not in the cloth-nappy camp. I have 2 preggie friends that are doing it, the first one is fiercely obsessive about it, the second is doing it as a cost-saving measure. A starter pack with about 20 nappies goes for about R4500, and apparently lasts until your baby goes off nappies.

I don't know, I'm just not into that. I love the environment and all, but I can't be bothered to wash and sterilize dirty nappies. I love my pampers nappies and AngelCare bin, I'm doing the same again. My perspective is that it makes sense if that's your personality, but I'm a working mom and I want things as easy as possible. Also, I think the disposables absorb much better and your baby is less likely to get a rash?

Soo exciting!
We confirmed a boy at the 16 week scan but i will ask them to check again next week and then again at the Fetal specialist at 20 weeks. Just to 100% certain!!

Ive had a few movements since last week Friday. Its such an amazing feeling. To be honest, i only know its the baby because of the prev pregnancy else i would not even think it was movement...

Can you all believe that it is already April!!! Gosh, time is really flying by.

Kiara: i wouldnt mind shopping but given my past i am a little scared and hubby wont hear anything of it!! he wants to wait right till the end and says we can draw up a list of everything we need and want with details and when its time, he will email it to my mum and his mum and they will take care of the shopping! LOL i dont blame him for being scared as well.. its beem nerve wrecking to say the least but i am so tempted to at least buy my first baby grow but hold back each and every time!!!
Cloth nappieS: i havent given it thought.. i dont think i will. not that there is anything wrong with it but i think im just all for disposable...

Hi ladies,

Yep. It's been very quiet on here. I was tempted to join the August thread because they are quite active.

TCS84, so sorry for what you're going through. That is very stressful. I also found that the first few months aren't too expensive. I found out (a little too late) that Dischem has an awesome baby clinic at the fraction of the cost that most pediatricians cost. I also breastfed for the first 4 months, and that was a huge saving on formula. I also want to start ASAP with buying nappies. Checkers tends to have really awesome specials, as does Baby City. They don't go off and Baby City is always happy to do exchanges, so it's never too early in my view. All the best though.

DieSwartKat, I'm glad to hear that the nausea is getting better. Nothing worse really. Mine is still lurking and ASIC doesn't help me much.

I didn't know about the placenta donation. It sounds awesome and I definitely wouldn't mind donating it.

I won't be doing the stem cells storage. Too costly, but a great idea.

My next app is next Tuesday and I can't wait. I could feel baby's movements ever so slightly, and that has driven me insane because I whenever I feel like it's been too long without movement, I go into a frenzy!

Question: anyone considering cloth nappies?
