Good Morning Ladies,
I am finally feeling better and actually have the time to get back and respond to everyone's post properly
@Pillpusher Im so glad you finally came to a decision on your baby shower and I hope all things go smoothly! I also dont mind the whole game thing and dress up, I was dressed up as a bee lol and mine was held at a restaurant but was lots of fun! Lets hope DH gets it right with the family
@CandyPops - I totally understand what you talking about and even my weekends are jam packed with events or my daughters extra murals lol
Regarding when i went into labour I was 38 weeks due the 12 October, plug came out on the 1 October had baby 2 October, so lets hope your gynae is still around the week before but maybe confirm with him, my gynae only came back the day I went to the hospital to tell them my plug came out so confirm with him what the plan is if incase your water does happen to break or anything happens in that week, rather keep your mind at ease knowing what the plan is than get there and be frazzled.
Regarding SIDs, I knew about it and read up about it and to be honest I didnt want to go para and listen out for the alarm to go off. I had friends who had the pad and their baby was prem and was a seriously wriggler, she used to wriggle her way off of the pad which use to sound the alarm. I have a monitor that with my LG I could actually hear her breathing - Im a terribly light sleeper so I was more than happy with just that monitor - however im not too sure if its still as good as it was and with all this loadshedding im really thinking of getting one that is at least not reliant on electricity. I also saw an app that you can apparently download, and can watch your baby with a ipad in the room etc - technology is insane.
HVDB - I know exactly what you are talking about with those programs, watched 3 episodes while I was off and i didnt even know about half those issues, I too cry when the baby cries, funny I was chatting to my mom last night as we were talking about the one mom who had Cholestatis (never in my entire life have I heard of this until now) and according to all studies babies born to moms with this problem need to be born before 37 weeks or else they could die as they land up producing the meconium into the amniotic fluid and could swallow it during labour!
Watching the shows I had to be reminded how my labour was and asked my mom who said I actually was doing pretty well and went all the way to 7cm without getting the epidural, I thought I got the epi at 5cm, its insane how you forget, I kinda wish I was part of these shows just so I can remember in detail how my labour went!
Congrats LouiseM on all the good news lets hope its stays high up there!
And may all you mommies enjoy your babymoons, unfortunately we just have too much happening over the next few months to even consider a break
LouiseM regarding your daughter, watching a show is nothing compared to the real deal, (well so my husband says) maybe take her for the walk around the labour ward and that and get a feel of how she reacts when you show her the theatre and where you will be having her sister. If the gynae allows it, I cant see it being a problem if she is sitting by your head, you just have to take all scenarios into consideration and chat to your gynae
Anyway ladies, may you all have a warm weekend!
