Good morning mommies

Cannot sleep so I thought to reply to some of the toppics.

@- Clueless happy to hear your doc is keeping an close eye on you. I remember last week monday my docter told me that I will have to wait untill the 27th for my c-sec but 24 hours later Stephan was born. I hardly had time to process the info. Doctors no best and If your doc is not worried then you can relax. After my songram last monday I could see the worry in my docs eyes. He even said that he was worried. So if the doc is happy then you can be happy.

On the subject of the dummy. I was worried that it would cause confusion but in the neonatal ward they ask for one. We had to buy a special prem dummy. But I have to add that the dummy is doing wonders. He sucks on it everyday and it helped with his sucking reflex. When I indroduced the breast he had no problem latching. So I will continue using the dummy after we bring him home. He falls asleep with his dummy as well.

@PP & @HVDB - just want to ask if any of you have had headaches after your c-sections? I have been having a horrible headache and my doc said its due to the spinal. He told me to take in caffeine, but I can't. I really do not want to spoil my milk. Also how is your recovery? I'm not that mobile yet and it's been a week. Maby it's in my head but I catch myself slouching. I also hate looking at my incision makes me feel a little light headed. Lol it's silly really because its not that bad at all. My doc did a great job.

lastly I have to agree with something HVDB said a while back. The moment baby was born that horrible uncomfyness is gone. No more heartburn, feeling out of breath, swelling, blood pressure ( in my case) and so on. Their is a couple of days to recover from the c sec butbI had my incision lazered in the hospital whiched helped. The fisio at kloof is amazing. She even sorted out my back which has been bothering me since my car accident. She did some ultrasound massage thing on my breast as well the day after delivery to stimulate milk flow. But the wound lazer was great I would strongly recommend it.

I am breastfeeding twice a day now and hopefully they will increase is gradually untill baby comes home. I think I will have to lodge at the hospital the days before he is sent home to complete the 24 hour trail run.

So thats it from me. Hope everyone has a great day
Lots of love

Hello Ladies

Just a quick update. Stephan is doing very well. I breastfed him today and we did not struggle at all. I was so overjoyed. He has been taken off of all tubes except the one they are feeding breast milk trough. So they feed him and twice a day I breastfeed. But they will up the breasfeeds every day. He is absolutely wonderful with the breast. As for me I am doing much better. It was incredibly hard to leave him at the hospital that first day but we visit him alot which helps. He has also lost his post bith weight and started to gain again. Hi is now at 2.17 kg's.

Just want to thank everyone for the support and advise. I think I wasn't emotionally prepared for the birth yet and everything happened so fast. My husband is my rock and he has pulled me trough the pregnancy and birth and without him I would not have been able to cope.

lots of love to everyone

attached is a picture of Stephan taken today

Hi all,

Clueless glad your dr picked it up early and is keeping a close eye on you both! Sounds like your ml will be starting just in time!! Good to hear your lg party was a hit, must be a relief to know that is over and done with now?

Zandri, how are you and lb?? Any idea when he'll be coming home?? How you feeling?? Don't like that you so quiet :(

Lauz im feeling ok thanx. Had a nice first day of ml, had a long nap which did the world of good. Leandi been counting the sleeps till her sussie is coming out so she has the whole house excited!! She's also been worrying about the strangest things, asking me what daddy will make to eat while im in hospital, and if daddy knows how to change sussies nappy and bath her. Ai she's just 5 and wondering about all these things, poor angel!!

Happy 4week birthday Cara!! Can't believe how quick time went!!!

Clueless, she was scheduled for c-sec @ 39 weeks due to small pelvis.

@ 37 weeks my water broke in my sleep and within an hour I went into active labour.

When I arrived at hospital I was already 5cm dilated and in excruciating pain!!!! Was immediately rolled into theatre for emergency c-sec.

Dr noticed the white marks on my placenta and it had to be sent to lab. Results came back calcification and she said to me it's fine, it just means that baby excreted the necessary hormones to take over from the placenta (lungs etc).

So even though she was born 2 weeks early, she was ready to be born.

So I wouldn't worry about the calcifying - I however would be concerned going into natural birth

Thanks LM. All of a sudden I can't seem to recall, did you go into labour with Elmarise or was she a c-sect birth? She was born at 37 weeks, I think you said?

I'm curious, cause with my eldest, my placenta also calcified, dr picked it up at 38 week checkup and did a non-stress test. The tests showed signs of distress, so he did the c-sect that afternoon..,. By that time she had not even dropped and I didn't even have Braxton-Hicks
