DebbieF, my mom is the same, she lives for these two babies in the making . Good luck with your daughter, mine is only 6 so it's a complete different ball game. Re the baby expo, that sucks... there is one in Cape Town end of October, hope it's not the same

Pokkeltjie, glad to hear you are feeling better. Haha about the shopping, I haven't done any shopping in a while now (except buying maternity clothes online), but I think it's time to get a few things again. Nice bump as well!

Hallo everyone else.

AFM: I went for my anatomy scan yesterday. Baby A weighs 360g and Baby B 320g - it's a 15% difference which is fine - over 25% is a problem. Baby A is getting more of the placenta and has more amniotic fluid, but the doctor isn't too concerned about it at this stage. Baby B however has a small hole in his heart. He will most likely outgrow it while still in the womb. Luckily it doesn't effect his growth or well-being while in the womb because he gets all his oxygen from the placenta. If born with this hole, it may cause some breathing difficulties. They can then medicate or do a small operation to insert a small type of balloon to fix the problem, or they can do big open heart surgery.
I was fine about it yesterday, because at least it's not about life or death (like the 12 week scare), but this morning I'm feeling a bit emotional - poor baby. We're seeing the sonographer again on 30 October together with a pediatric cardiologist to explain everything to us should the hole still be there.

My next scan date is 13 September with my gynae

Thanks SimmyBunz, I think that is the reason she is unsure of what is going to happen to "us" have tried to assure her that it will be OK, don't want to make promises I can't keep as to time but also have my hubby that can help with the baby so I can spend quality time with her, I think a boy would also be easier, but that is already been decided. I also don't like the idea of the built in baby sitter also it's our baby not hers.

DebbieF - Oh Debbie, I can so relate to this. My mom remarried when I was 18 and they briefly considered having another baby. I was very upset because I'm so close to my mom and didn't want her loving somebody more than she loved me, or for our special relationship to change. I told her in no uncertain terms that I didn't want her to have another baby, especially not a girl... I'm sure she will come round, but I think that she she needs reassurance that your relationship won't change and that you won't love the baby more than you love her. Maybe not verbally, but by your actions. So if you carry on doing special things with her that you always have done, I'm sure she will start to feel more secure. She could also be unsure about her role in the babies life. The age gap is too big for a conventional sibling relationship, so maybe talk to her a bit about the types of things she wants to do with/for her sibling, and the things she doesn't want to be expected to do. My cousin has a sibling 26 years her junior and has had to become chief babysitter- I think that is unfair unless that is the role she wants. I know she will love the baby fiercely once he/she is here!

Was disappointed in the baby fair it was mainly clothes (like designer) which is difficult when you don't know the gender.
and budget wise I am not paying that for an everyday outfit that is going to have to be the grannies treat, hehe

Told my mom on Friday about the LO , she is over the moon , and has told everyone she can possibly think of about it,
think my sisiter's nose is a little out of joint as she used to have the youngest grandchild (who is already 9) so now her baby wont be the baby of the family but I am not to concerned about that.

We also told my daughter , who is 22 , she is not happy at all , doesn't want to share her mama with anyone, hoping she will will come round by the time the baby is born.

AF - feeling much better after I was off sick Thursday and Friday with a cold....must admit rest does wonders for the mind & body! Went shopping for some baby clothes over the weekend and oh dear...I lost all control!! Ended up going home with 3 full bags of baby clothes/goodies!

It's been so quiet on here!!

lethuwam - I'm on Discovery coastal saver - was on core but upgraded. I don't know how much savings I have left, but when it runs out I will just pay out of pocket at least the birth is covered... I just did a search on the Discovery website and can't find any doctors that are fully covered at Kingsbury on our plan So it looks like you will have to make be making co-payments.

NnitaN - I'm so sorry bout your cousin! I hope that the joy of feeling the little one inside your tummy helps with your grief a bit. I am thinking of you and your family!

Pokkeltjie - I'm sure you do look radiant, and whoever told you your ass is getting big deserves a smack! I'm so happy you had such a positive scan! I find scans really fun, it's sooo interesting to get a little glimpse in there and see what baby is up to! Thank you for keeping us up to date with cute colour coded scan dates!

Bea - It's so confusing, that's why I asked! Many people say dressing twins the same is bad but surely not when they are babies? Then again, maybe you buy 2 of everything but they don't have to wear them on the same day? Since they are identical, maybe it would be best to dress them differently for the first few days! Your bump is so cute! I'm sure your scan will go great tomorrow and that big sister will thoroughly enjoy it! See if you can get some pics of the 2 of them together? I would love to see!

Spirited Mama - I'm so sorry that your gran seems to be deteriorating! Life can be so cruel. I hope for the best outcome nd for peace for you and your family.

AFM I have been going away for a few days at a time for my PhD project where I only have internet on my phone, so It's difficult for me to post!
I don't really have much to report though! I am feeling great, the same as I did pre-pregnancy I would say.
I think I'm finally showing! I feel like I "popped" twice about a week apart - I went from nothing at all to small bump during my 15th week, and then during this week I went from small bump to bigger bump... Haha.

I think I have felt baby move only about 3 times - it felt like 1 popcorn kernel popping. Although it's my first and I have an anterior placenta, so I don't expect to be feeling much at this point, I still wish I could feel him everyday just to reassure me!

I've attached a pic of baby with open mouth (swallowing fluid) from my scan at 15 weeks, he looks so silly!
Then there is a bonus pic of my 16 week belly! I will take a new 1 tomorrow again (17 weeks) but it's bigger!

Hi ladies

I am so sorry i have not been able to reply before, I have been so busy! My scan last week wednesday went really well. I lost more weight but baby is growing well and at 15w4 days baby weighed 145 grams. My next scan date is the 19th Sep. Then i think I will have the anatomy scan and hopefully find out the gender.

I haven't been sick lately and I am feeling normal again. Energy levels have picked up and even did some shopping this weekend.
