I think that is a great idea. The expo's really help one to get extra ideas that will suit your budget and room size.

I am busy sorting out baby clothes this weekend. Brings back fond memories to go through the tiny little clothes.....

Hi Ladies

Cant believe its Friday again, the time is flying .

Thanks for all the advise Jooste. I think I will get the compactum and a chair for the room and leave the single bed for now. I will also look out for a nice lamp. We are having the baby expo in PE at the end of this month, so will look out for some ideas there.

have a nice weekend ladies

I do not think there is any easy answers to that.

Our main bedroom is not too big and my DH do not do very well with lack of sleep (as we found out after the the birth of Lee in 2013!). So, to have a baby with us rooming-in for the first few weeks (which we have done with Lee) was not the best of decisions for us. So, with Mr. M we immediately moved him into his own room and we have a very good baby monitor with screen and movement monitor attached to him and it was a lot better for us. So - I will be having baby M-M in her own room from the very first night at home. Then at least DH can sleep undisturbed and I am use to getting up and helping out the children.

A compactum is very handy. We had one with Lee and got another with when Mr. M arrived. Apart from changing nappies, it works very well during those early weeks after the birth when you are still rather fragile and bending over too much over a low bed is not ideal. It makes dressing them easier and the compactum doubles as a drawer for socks and other clothes as the get older. So, we are using both compactums still. Now I have a small night lamp on it and a little CD-player and the drawers are easy for Lee to open up to get her own panties and vests and stuff like that. I did not get compactums with bathtubs inside them. I figured that will be a waste of money and that I will probably not use them after the babies are turning into toddlers.

Yes, I think a feeding chair is wonderful. Again, we have 2 (one for each child's room at this stage). Whether you will be breastfeeding or bottle feeding, you need good back support and a place to rest your arm and chairs work wonderfully. Afterwards...they double up as reading-chairs for bedtime stories (as we are using them now). Also, when a child is sick - I tend to end up sleeping in the chair next to the cot / bed. We made sure to get big bulky rocking type chairs with small footstools and that really helped me a lot. I do not have space for a small single bed. So,....I suppose you can swap the chair for a single bed if you like.

I also have a night light and dimmer switches on the main light in the room. It is great during night feeds and when checking up on babies / children without needing to switch on the main light or the light in the passage. Our passage light is too bright and I needed to close the bedroom door a little to not wake the baby - but then ended up bumping into everything as the little bit of light shining in through the half open door was not enough to see my way around or check for dirty nappies.

It is a pity that the next Mama Magic show is only in Nov in Jhb. I got a lot of ideas from going to those shows with my first two pregnancies. I would love to go again to bulk up on some nappies, but I am not sure if that will be a good idea travelling (we are about 300km away from Jhb) that late in the pg.

Hi Ladies

Jooste- yes, it does seem that the time is flying now. I have not planned the nursery yet, I cant decide what to do.
Are you going to have baby in your bedroom for first while or in different room. I dont want to do the entire nursery thing and end up having baby in our room for the first few months. Im a little confused . What do you normally have in baby room? I have a cot and the built-in cupboard will have hanging space and lots of drawers. so do I still need a compactum? where will a change baby? on a single bed? Do I need chair for feeding?Night light?

Hi everyone
Is it just me....or is this pregnancy flying by too fast!! The first trimester was going buy so slow...ly.....
but after hitting the 20-week mark, it goes way to quickly.

Have you planned a nursery yet? I will start sorting out baby clothes over this weekend and plan to move my little boy in with his sister around month-end so that I can use his room as the nursery. I hope he takes it well!?

Hi Ladies

Thuriey, How are you and baby doing?

Jooste, I had heart palpitations in the beginning of pregnancy but is seems to have gone away over time.I can also see that my heart rate is up with my watch.I got the bath salts yesterday , hope its going to help for the cramps.

We went to Addo elephant park for the weekend, was awesome and relaxing.Bought the lil guy a lion teddy , so cute, he is going to love it.

Awww...so precious to cuddle with him. Rather amazing that he is off CPAP and doing so great - while being born so early and being so tiny! How much have he gained now?

Make sure to check out the swelling.
Glad you are enjoying your break and doing as little as possible. I am with you on the weak bladder situation. I did not battle with the issue during any of my other pregnancies, but this time around I am struggling a lot. I've started doing kegel exercises now. I do not want for it to be a ever lasting problem after delivering...:S

So glad your little man is moving a lot. So special, hey?

I have not been feeling too great yesterday and the day before. Was not sure what exactly was bothering me...but was extremely tired at 8pm, and felt kind of anxious....heart palpitations of some sorts. Out of breath as well. When I woke up this morning, I felt fine, but just about an hour later, I started feeling tired and dizzy and again out of breath. Quickly went to our local GP for a checkup. Urine is 100% okay - blood pressure on the low side though and it seems like I am battling a little bit with "gastritis". I do have heartburn, not too much, but I do take Gaviscon from time to time. The constant flow of acid into the esophagus is apparently irritating to all the organs around it...and as my tummy is now pressing against my diaphragm and that is causing the heart to beat faster. Adding that to the low blood pressure and it explains why I am not feeling so great.

So....smaller meals and some extra stuff to take for the heartburn.
We did have a quick peak at our little nunu ...just to make sure. She is a whopping 780 grams and was lying head down and legs kicking me in the ribs during the scan.
