Hi Guys

Have not been on much but have reading the post, sorry if that feels like cheating.

Went for my final checkup today. Baby was originally due 11 Feb but we will be doing a C-section on the 26th ( NEXT WEEK!!!!). Baby today weighed in at 3.335kg and doc is happy with progress.

As for the Twin Pram, got mine today, bought it on Gumtree at a bargain. The only reason why I want one is because we almost daily go for walks and my son ( 18 months) likes to ride in the pram until we get to the dam, then he runs around like a hooligan, chasing his dad and the dog. Definitely will not be using it for shopping as my son won’t sit still in a shop and luckily I also have a single Graco pram for such outings with the new baby. And the twin does not fit into the boot of my car...ooops

Bennets is the best!!! Would never have surfived without it.

So Nathan had his vaccinations done today, I was so impressed! Thanks so much Vix! And the Sr checked Sarah's card and realised her booster wasnt done at 12 months and did that too! And it just cost me 2 x consultations of R75 each! At the endof the day, I am happy with the Govt stock, Sarah had it and right now it would cost me a lot to do the private way even though medical aid pays a portion but there are dispensing fees, consulations are more, Storks Nest is a mission to get to, etc etc. I was super impressed, thanks again Vix!

And Nathan weighs..... 2,8kg! We weighed him on my kitchen scale yesterday and it said the same, so it is accurate! But the scale only goes to 3kg, so I guess I'll be visiting the baby clinic everyweek to weigh him there! I am so happy, and sometimes you think what is the point of weighing every week, but its so reassuring when they are picking up!

Ster, no, it wasnt me talking about hiccups yesterday - but I'm interested to find out what you can do. Although I was told it doesnt really hurt them. Nathan doesnt really have a lot of wind, I actually forget to wind him. But I do find if he has hiccups, then there is no ways he has a wind. His hiccups never last longer than half a minute or so. So Maryke, it sounds right what the NICU Sr says!

Maryke, I am so glad you have a good maid now! Thats so nice if she can sit in the car - thats all I sometimes wish I had!

I can run i with one child, but two is a major mission! Guys, I dont know how I am going to do shopping with 2! Sarah in the trolley and Nathan in a sling/wrap? And if I need the loo? I just cant justify buying a twin pram. Hopefully Sarah will soon be big enough to listen to me - ie - in the parking lot - thats my biggest fear! I really think I am going to get some reins, I always said I wouldnt, but I have learnt NEVER TO SAY NEVER... LOL!

Its so funny how we were once talking about scans, tests, then water retention, back ache, then babies came and now we are talking about winds, colic and feeding! You know soon we will be talking about sitting, crawling, walking, eating, talking... no stop! It goes too fast!

Chris, thinking of you everyday and cant wait to see updated pics! No pressure, I know you are probably so busy! Really hope you are coping and enjoying your babas!

I phoned Pals baby clinic this morning (thanks Chris) and they doing the private shots for me or lets call it the 8 week shots for R570-00 including consultation per baby, Dis-chem clinics charge R 1560-00 per baby so I made an appointment with pals for next week tuesday for there jabs and they do have stock yippee. For there next 2 shots 12 weeks and 16 weeks I have to do the private shots but there after I can go over to gov stock.

Yesterday at the chiro they only charged me for one baby wasn't that nice!

ChanM hope you find away that suits you and Kade best it's all about trail and error...Is there no one you can ask to look after Kade for you one day just to get a good shut eye? You must get some rest for you own and hubbies sanity...Kade is such a gorgeous bub nice pics...

Our nicu sister said if the bubs have hiccups all there wind is out...

I have started putting the bennets in there milk and it also still seems to help

Chirs Vix I prop up Aiden on a normal pillow he likes drinking side ways so I put him on his side put a spoeg doek under his bottle and under his chin and viola unfortunately Llewellyn can't drink on a pillow other wise he doesn't drink a drop even tho you think he is drinking he can only drink in my arms, he doesn't drink by hubby nor my mom or anyone who tries bummer for me.

Ster Vix I was always a NAN mom but I must say I like the lactogen it disolves alot easier it seems more settling for there tummies there pooh are a lot better and not as smelly as the NAN and alot cheaper I payed for a 900g tin of NAN R 157-00 and for the 1.8kg Lactogen I pay R 152-00 and that is at the Spar so if you think about it the NAN is double the price of lactogen and it last me longer a tin of NAN lasted me about 5 days and I think I will get 10 days on the lactogen so that is one saving! Next I am going to try the Pn'P brand nappies I have heard some good reviews on them so I am going to try a pack when my pampers is finished

I got a new domestic and I think she might just be the one, she is eager to learn she wants me to teach her how to cook hands on with bubs if Aiden moan and I am busy with Llewellyn she will pick him up and sooth him and talk to him so it helps alot I could even do a site visit today I took her with and she stayed in the car with the babies, it would also be nice now if I need to quickly pop in to the shop she can stay with them in the car for a few minutes so hubby can actually have a decent meal soon I think for the first time in years I can say there is nothing in my fridge to eat all I have in there is sauces and butter I should actually take a pic and upload of my bare fridge

Finding the right formula for each individual child is really proving to be very important hey?

My boys drink same as if not more than most of your babies and they don't go more than 3hrs, I think they're just doing it out of habbit now....... They seem quite happy on the lactogen though, decent poo and not much cramps so can't complain.

Ster- I think it was MommyN who said about wrapping baby for hiccups but I am so pleased it's working. Wow Inge has a lovely sleep pattern, you must be really pleased!

Chan- the pics of Kade are adorable! You look so good not like you just gave birth at all!

Chan, Inge was similar - cramps,moaning and feeding every 3 hours on NAN. Changed her on Friday to Lactogen and started Sunday night with Bennets Colic Mixture. She changed from 3 hours to 4 hours. She drank at 17:00 last night and fell asleep at 18:00. Slept until 22:30. Drank again at 23:00 and slept until just before 05:00 this morning. She doesn't finish a 100ml bottle. I also put 8 drops of telemin in each bottle - but not in the 15:00 / 17:00 (what ever drinking time we are on) bottle as then I give her Bennets.

Chan I was thinking about you yesterday and last night, suddenly realised we haven't heard from you in a long time. Glad to hear you're o.k, well just LOL I'm sorry Kade isn't settling, I'm gonna ask you a ton of really stupid questions before I offer advoce so I don't suggest something you know doesn't work so please bear with me:

What time does he bath?
Does he sleep on a lift wedge?
Does he roll around the cot a lot?
Does he suffer reflux or sick up a lot once laying in the cot?
Does his nose seem stuffy?
How does he sleep during the day?
Does he want to be in the arms all the time?
Do you give the bennetts 5-10min before a feed?
Does he burp well?

Sorry, I know a lot of them are stupid questions but I just want to see where I can help.

Chris- so pleased you're home, you sound really chirpy considering you're probably not getting much sleep or rest! Big up to you for coping so damn well! You're so right about prem babies taking ages to drink but I pronise you irt does get faster, jono now drinks as fast as Alex. I was feeding them one after the other but it was taking me an hour and a half to feed and burp which just doesn't work on a 3hr schedule so I now prop feed them at the same time. Do you remember on that dvd in the womb multiples toward the end they showed the quads being bottle fed on little stool/poof type things? I made 2 bean bag poofs and I prop them each on one, place a spoek doek under their chins and rest the bottle on a blanket. Now they both drink at the same time, I have hands free to burp whichever one half way through and they actually seem to be drinking faster like that than in my arms. I'm sure you can buy a couple of bean bag poofs or stools, I always see them by the side of the road but I have no idea what they cost. Otherwise try to find some soft continental pillows maybe that would work? The bean bags are nice because it moulds to the shape of their bodies so they don't slip off or roll over. I would make you some but I can't get them to you...... But if you're really stuck then I'm sure we can make a plan.

Binks- so pleased Vanya is feeding well, I also used to get that spraying boob, poor Alex was covered a good few times. Not to mention my sofa was a mess.

Maryke- so pleased Aiden was a bit better after the meds. We decided to just do govt vaccines this time because we really can't afford 2 sets of private.

I took the tweenies for their 6w vacs yesterday (chris- check with your Paed at the 6w check up because mine said he wanted them vaccinated even though they were under 3kg because they are strong and healthy but still just as at risk of catching those virus' so rather vaccinate on schedule, he wrote me a letter for the clinic sister to say he wanted them vaccinated at their small weights) we decided to just go with the govt vaccines this time because with 2 we really can't afford the private 6in1 or 10in1 whatever it is now and my clinic sister says the govt vaccines are perfectly adequate. So we also got the prevenar and rotovirus on the govt schedule so all I paid for their jabs was R75 per baby for a consultation fee and I will gladly pay that not to have to sit at the govt clinic. The babies got a little bit of a fever, well 37.3 which is not very high, just slightly elevated so I gave 1ml panado and this morning they are on top form again.

Ladies, please phone your clinics first and ask if they have govt stock of prevenar and rotovirus, you'll save yourselves thousands of rands for exactly the same thing as the private prevenar and rotovirus. I'm usung a clicks clinic so maybe check those if your local storks nest doesn't hav stock.
