YoungT- that actually sounds completely normal! When you see a midwife and head for a natural birth they really don't need to scan you every 4 weeks. There are certain milestones that they need to check hence 6w to confirm baby is in the uterus not the tubes, 12w to check for likelyhood of downs and 24 should be to check all organs are functioning fully and with no abnormalities. Your 36w will be to check position and lay of the baby and 38 again to just confirm baby is doing well and still in a cephalic (head down) position. OB/GYN's do seem to over do it a bit with the monthly appointments, they're not all essential.

hi Young!

i see my gynae less with this preg than the last one. probably every 5 weeks or so. and from now every 3-4 weeks until right up to the time. i am pretty clued up with my body and i am comfortable working like this, but i do know that i can see him at any time i need if feel thta i need to.

your plan with themidwives is perfect. i saw mine like that last year (yes, i had a baby in aug last year!) but i also saw my gyane inbetween.

i haven;t had many scans either. so donlt stress about that. the nigher risk moms generally have more scans anyway.

hope everyone else is ok.

had a quote for airconditioning today. slightly prciey!

Afternoon Mommies,

Hope you all hanging in there and that BH not getting the better of you. Thanks for the welcome.

Silly question......How often do you all see your gyn/obs?

I went for a 6week scan, 12 week and 24 week and then only again at 36 weeks (I think it is) and think again at 38 weeks for the last one.

I see you all have lots of visits is this because you request it or is it what is suggested? I understand the multiples mums having more visits but for the rest?

I saw my midwife, Xoli and her partner Ntombi, for the first time at 24 weeks and will see her once a month for the next 2 months and every 2nd week for the last month.

I will hopefully be birthing at Genisis with Dr Mia as my backup gynie and Xoli or Ntombi to get me through the birth.

Does this sound normal?

MommyN - hope you feel better after the rest.
Chan - sorry your back is taking strain - good luck with your appointment next week.
Chris - sh lives in Scotland - so only see her FB updates. She is almost 21 weeks, she had protein in her urine at 19 weeks and a bladder infection, but all's well now. She already has 2 little boys and really wanted a girl - they did gender selection for the IVF.

Hi Mommies

Wow, Chris, thats a lot of BH. Try not to stress, remember you set goals, and your Dr will know best! You are doing great. I also think for you being home, you are thinking about everything! Just try to take it one day at a time, and I just know everything is going to be fine! You are great!

Vix, it was so good to see you yesterday! Wow, I really think you are going to make 38 weeks. You are really having a great pregnancy!

MarykeD - I think if we dont get a post from you for a day or 2 we'll all starting wondering! Hope the injections put your mind at peace, and that you can just last as long as possible. Thinking of you!

ChanM - I think we also feel larger than what we are because everything has "shifted" so to speak, hips, pelvis, and it sometimes feels like I have a ball under my ribs, so its just tight and I am finding I get fuller quicker.

Welcome YoungT - welcome - I am a Pretoria Mommy. 2nd pregnancy, 35 years old. I have a 14 month old little girl and am due Mid-January. Doing so so, just running my feet off with a toddler who is always busy and doesnt sleep well. Now I feel like a moaning Mommy!

I cant remember any other personals.... oh dear. Going for a lie down now, the tabs the Gynae put me on for my moods/feelings are really making me feel wishy washy. Has anyone been on Aterax? I have googled it, and it is quite common but is also an anti-hestimine and that makes you drowsy. Getting up 2 or 3 times with a toddler also doesnt help.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Chat again later

BTW, Vix, my next Gynae appointments are 24 Nov and 15 Dec. ;)
