heart Jan/Feb 2011 Mommies (Nov & Dec 2010 early babes)

Hi gals,

I haven't had chance to read the previouis page yet so please excuse me if I forget anything.

The boys have slept on their tummies since about 8w I think, maybe earlier. Even after food, as long as they have burped well then they're fine. I'm sure tge tummy sleeping is all part of the reason they sleep through til 5am before their 1st feed. They sleep on their tummies during the day too and can I just say they still sleep up to 2hrs sometimes after each feed! I put epsom salts in the bath last night and I'm only having to feed them now at 6am!

Corgan"s mom- you can try emla cream on the area of the jab about an hour before, it would avoid the pain from the needle going in and then he'll just get the burning sensation with the liquid. Sounds like he's doing really well, well done mommy!

Chris- trust me it's hard enough leaving the house with 2 never mind 3. O.k I'm a stubborn Brit and I NEED my independance so if I want to see what's in the shops I will take all 3 kiddies if I have to. But I assure you it's not easy and it makes you very uncomfortable when people stare and come chat to you while you're out. I actually don't take the babies many places anymore but now my Mum lives down the road she can babysit for me.

I think it's time I can stop steralizing the bottles, I haven't steralized dummies since the boys were a few weeks old and now they're on solids their bowls and feeding spoons aren't steralized, plus those dirty hands are in their mouths permanently anyway. Then I suppose it's time I packed up all the 'baby' stuff and sell it, don't need it cluttering up the house anymore. I can't believe my babies are no longer newborns needing so much stuff, not that I'm sad, I'm actually very happy about moving on, I much prefer the toddler stage.

Mandz- it doesn't matter if Jordyn only has 4 bottles a day, those guidelines on the bacl of the tin really are just guidelines. My boys don't drink nearly as much as the tin says but I leave them, I just have one rule that they must always have enough milk each feed to have 10ml min left over when they are done drinking, that way I know they've had enough.

Chris- wanted to say...... Maybe give the babies their bottles first and solids after. That"s how we were told to do it when I had C because the milk is still very important, the solids are like a booster, then you can still offer water or more milk after the solids if you think they're still hungry.

Oh who asked about how I know how much solids to give? I honestly don't I just go with the flow, I gave them an amount when they started eating and as soon as they started eating it all up I started to make the feeds bigger and so on and so on. I always try to make sure there's enough that when they're full I still have a spoon or 2 left over, like the milk, so I know they have eaten til they feel full and not cos they ran out of food. The boys eat 2 muffin pan portions of veggies between them in one sitting so quite a lot. The porridge I just pour into the bowl but I usually add 80ml milk for Alex and about 50ml milk for Jono although Jono is starting to eat more, he's just a little behind because he only started solids close on 5m.

mind is blank now........

Oh Mandz- If I were you I would take every single bottle along with an email from avent telling you to return them, to the shop and ask for a refund and buy a different brand, I would be so pissed. If you don't have recipts start phoning Avent head office and tell them you will be contacting a consumer standards agenncy because this is just not acceptable. I am the queen of complaints, I once received R180 in vouchers for 2 boxes of PnP no name rice krispies I just didn't like the taste of LOL

You and your sister look gorgeous and so so happy!

Checkers have a special on purity cereal 2nd and 3rds for R10 a box on til sunday, purity aqueous crams R15 didn't see nappies sorry cos I wasn't looking.

Mandibles:D I love it when you send such long replies:) my internet connection is down, hence my shorty replies:)

You look gorgeous Chickiebird, and that's not silly at all - Mrs Howard sounds fantastic. Random fact did you know Muslim women are not required to change their maiden surnames and most don't. Dh had to persuade me to let go of Latif. I still practice under Latif though:)

Yes sleeping angels mustnt:)

Sterr has inge always slept on her tummy? Even after a feed?

Hi Everyone

Shew everyone has a lot to say today :-) Don't you just love it :P

Tomorrow Jordyn is 6 months old, and WOW all I have been doing in thinking of everything from the birth until now and smiling! I can;t believe that this mom thing has worked out quite well ;)

When (more or less) do babes sit? I have seen some LO on here have sat at 4 months  Jordyn isn't sitting yet

He is loving his food....From cereal to all the first veg and fruits.

Man I need to vent as well...Chris think you egged me on :silly: - These friggin AVENT bottles!!!!!! If I prepare a bottle again and at the "shake" step- it sprays everywhere- I will personally find the production line and blow it up!!!!! I mean I went and bought 2 new bottles today to just make things a little easier, and of course you sort of stick to what bubs is used to(so they really have you at the short and curly's). I came home and washed and prepared all bottles. At bed time Jordyn was so tired. So baby in hand, and mixing bottle in another- and it sprays everywhere! Then i quickly decant into another(so now I have dirtied two bottles) AND as I shake that one it does the same!!!! now thats 3 dirty bottles to feed a fourth one that went ok! I mean really. We invest a lot in bottles and teats, its unacceptable. Do any of you have the same issue. This is the avent bottle with the blue ring. I have complained and they say I must return it to the store I bought it from. no1-I dont have slips, gosh I dont even know where I bought each one no2-how do you figure out the problem bottles with a mountain of bottles! So I dont know what to do.

Chris- You have every right to just want to stay home. I will admit I hate going away-no matter where as packing for one baby is crazy. You need everything including the kitchen sink in this case. For day trips, Ill admit I am quite outgoing, but like to the shops nearby etc. I have had days where I have unloaded and loaded J into the car like ten times. Its really tiring. You have to juggle feeds, carry stuff, and my goodness Chris-How on earth do you do it with 3 on your own! I think at baby stage it must be impossible. You should just do what makes you feel comfortable. Dont worry about what ignorant people say! Hope Alessandro gets better soon, and the girls steer clear of the infection. Hope the sleeping in own cots works out tonight :-) J has also giggled in his sleep, amazing hey? Tonight he sobbed while sleeping, broke my heart-apparently this is dreaming???

Maryke- Sleeping through! Lucky you. J did it a couple times when he was younger, now he likes to wake up at 4 am and kick and shriek with excitement....not cute at all!!!!

Suriya- Glad the LO's are well, you been quiet. Sorry about your loss.

Corgansmom- I never gave J panado before jabs, but it wouldnt hurt. My advice is see how he takes this one and then you know for future. Just keep a check on temp and if it elevates I give the panado to play safe :-( I am a little scared of them fevers :-( I hope C doesnt cry, cos I almost cried with J! I cant remember which one of the million they give, but there is one that is very painful and my paed even said it really hurts them. Shame.

Suhaila- Sounds like teething :-( I really hope poor sausage gets better soon :-( There is nothing wrong with going to Paed for a check up, peace of mind is a must. Let us know :(

Vix- How are you doing? I agree but I think with nan the guideline is 5 bottles a day and if he skips that 2 am feed he will be down to four. BUT We go onto the NAN 2 in the next few days, I am wondering will there be a difference? I know its up to 225ml and 4 feeds. Also how do you know how much cereal and veg/fruit to feed bubs? I guess they wont over eat?

If I missed anyone I am sorry, but you know Dyl claims he has spotted a few grey hairs and I'll blame those for my loss of memory :silly:

Oh and Chris---- About that wedding pressure for Dyl, he has had it in doses shame. But really for me I just want something simple. I just really want us to be official and this might sound dumb-but I dont like being an outsider, Dyl and Jordyn share a surname. I dont feel that a marriage will alter out relationship its just a formality :-)

Okie dokie I am now going to have a relaxing bath, and hope J doesnt wake up(well he doesnt actually wake up) screaming again. Cos I think Dyl and I lost ten years earlier. Sleeping angels mustnt get so upset :(

Hi Ladies

Hope you are all well?

Maryke - the 12th sounds like a great day full of fun!!!

Chris - Inge prefers to sleep on her tummy and sleeps throughout the night on her tummy. During the day we will let her sleep on her sides. I use a normal baby pillow for her when she sleeps on her tummy and a normal pillow when she sleeps on her sides. We have the Angelcare and I'm sure by now nothing would happen (I'm also so dependent on the Angelcare ticking). She turns her head left and right during the night

to all the other wonderful ladies, I will do personals tomorrow - I'm so tired tonight - work is hectic and it feels like I've never been on 4 months ML

enjoy your evening
