Vix- I agree, I hope that he will let me know what he wants/needs! Being a first timer can be daunting. I will let you know how it goes.

Meags- I also struggled with bf. Jordyn latched perfectly but he was a boob fighter, he would latch, unlatch etc and it really felt like such a fight. I eventually got it right but had to take espiride to help, cos if i didnt take it, I would be without any milk. I had to do both Nan and bf and it wasnt the end of the world. Just remember, as much as bf is the best-if it is stressing you out and you are finding it hard to cope maybe give yourself a little slack. It doesnt make you a bad mom, if things dont work out according to plan. As long as baby is healthy and you are happy-do what you have to. Hang in there.

To everyone else, I am still amazed how all of you comment and reply with such ease-I am still finding it a challenge to follow whats happening. But loving it, I will get there

Meags shame man like Suhaila said even the most content baby some women don't feel the bond was the same with me had no problems with lg but just didn't feel like I was her mom, everyone asked me how does it feel like being a mom and I said ask me again when she can call me mom I just felt like a nanny to her, but NOW i love her to pieces!!!!! Hope thing start settling soon for you the first couple of weeks are really hard trying to find a happy medium

AFM Aiden slept from 6pm to 3am (a full 9hrs) and then from 3-6 last night and Llewellyn woke at 10 slept till 3 woke at 6 again, I still don't see any routine during the night I pacify if they have been sleeping 3hrs stretch for 4 then I give a bottle but then the little monkeys only drink 50ml really ! Llewellyn has gone down to 60ml bottles every 4-5hrs sometimes less it's really starting to worry me, Aiden drinks 130ml every 4hrs. They started solids on monday at school so I started feeding them porridge at 5 at night and then there bottle at 6 with there sleep. Llewellyn still cries but not as bad as last week I think he is getting use to the idea it's doedoe time then.

Ok need to go catch up on some work but feel so lethargic at the moment urgh!

Wian is doing much better! he was 4 months on the 26th. He is a real joy.. always a smile and a gurgle!!

suhaila - i go back 3rd may. not too long to go now. how old your LB? do you put the porridge in the milk bottle or do you feed by spoon? i tried putting prridge in a bottle with my last baby and it clogged up the teat. i eill be using tommee tippee with emily.

@Yvette yip still breastfeeding, and he has being on cereal for a day now. When are you going back to work?

@Ster does your mum want to come teach that skill to Aaqil as well?! I provide circus entertainment as I have to rock, sing and jump him to sleep:(

binks, i agree with the BF... if you are stressed or anxious, the babe will more likely be restless and not drink so well. now with emmi, its so natural, and she's done drinking in ten minutes. the oxytocin in the breastmilk is calming and relaxing for us as moms, and ofcourse for the babies.

meags - keep going my friend. he had a stressful birth and will take some time to settle. em was also stressed and VERY niggley and screamey for days and weeks. she is now only relaxed and happy. she gave me a hard time for the first 6 weeks. i love bf, and will continue with it once i go back to work.
and demand feed meags. they do not follow a 4hrly routine like most bottle babies.

@Vix: its amazing the plethora of reactions mothers can have to their newborns. for some its instantaneous, for others it can take some time. Was C a difficult baby? even some babies who are content, mums report taking time to bond. there are no rules. a colleague of mine read every attachment book, had her daughters name picked out, her lg was born a week after Aaqil and once she was born, her mum said she is a stranger to me, i keep referring to her as "it" and i keep waiting for another mum to come get her. we only named my son days after he was born, yet once placed on my chest, he felt like an old friend, with time that has just kept us apart. more sensitivity to the different reactions mothers face, a norming of these reactions and less pressure on moms as to what the "perfect reaction" should be is needed especially by health care professionals. my colleague was treated rather badly when she found her daughter at her breast an alien experience.

@Meags: hang in there, there is no right time, give yourself some space and we are all praying it will fall into space.

@Lizelle, i wanted to clean Aaqils tongue with some glycerine and gauze and mistakenly put surgical spirits on it. as i poured some fell out and i realised my error, HORROR!

@Vix and Maryke, congrats re the boys turning 4 months.
