Oh Meags! I'm so sorry Matt is giving you a hard time! Some babies get 'sore' very quickly from being held too much so maybe that's why he's not enjoying being on the chest for Kangaroo care. Did you manage to try a heat pack for his tummy cramps? As for him not latching I can honestly say I feel your emotional battle with this. I was really determined to BF for 6m with the boys but Jono just wan't cutting it, he latched a few times but generally he would hold his mouth open around my breast and scream constantly, I tried everything including sheilds but nothing worked, In the end I just gave up and expressed for him, the fighting over the breast was just taking too much of a toll on me emotionally and physically. In the end Jono became so demanding that while I was BF Alex I would have to get up to see to Jono and eventually Alex too started to reject the breast so I just expressed for both and bottle fed. Made me sad at the time because I had my heart set on BF but I'll be honest the emotional toll is half the problem. I hope either he starts to latch properly soon or you can just express and bottle feed and allow yourself a little emotional freedom. Don't beat yourself up over any of this, every child is different, little Matt had a difficult start to his life on this crazy planet earth. From a mommy who has had 3 boys 2 of which were horribly awkward babies all I can truely say is good luck and I hope it improves soon. I kow it's really tough to have an awkward bab and anyone who had a blissful begining will never really understand. I had trouble bonding with C but from 6 month we developed a good strong bond so just know that a bond is not always instant for everyone. I used to get very sad when I heard mom's talk about how happy and in love with their child they were, how everything is so perfect when my first experience of motherhood was pretty close to hell for me, I hated it, don't get me wrong I loved my boy I just really struggled to enjoy it like most other moms because C was so diffiicult. If you want to jjust off load and chat you're welcome to BBM me anytime of the day or night. Xxxxxx
Maryke- Happy 4m to your boys!!!!!! Glad you're enjoying work again!
Ster- your mini vacation sounds wonderful and so pleased for you getting Inge to fall asleep in her cot, it makes the world of difference to their quality of sleep.
MommyN- one thing I've learnt from a good friend of mine who's 2 year old boy still only weighs 10kg, don't stress over weight, some kids are just small. Nathan I honestly tthink is only small because he was prem, If I look at his build he's actually going to be a srocky boy one day. My paed said everything including weight can be behind up to the age of 2. But anyways I promise yu when you see the difference between Alex and Jono on thursday you'll instantly stop stressing, they look like they are months apart in age.
Suhaila- so pleased Aquil took is solids so well, some of these kids find it instinctual but others need more time and prectice, I have one of each LOL
MiksMom- Wian is looking so big! And looks like he just loves his veggies.
Mandz- when you start the porridge you'll see for yourself if Jordyn is ready after a few days of once a day you might suddenly see he's ready for twice a day, don't force him to wait 2 more weeks for it because the paed so, motherly instict is usually right and if you think he wants more he probably does. I've got Alex on porridge twice a day now for a week or 10 days, from the weekend I'm going to start with veggies now so I'll give porrige breakfast and dinner and veggies at lunch, then slowly I'll swap the dinner porridge for veggies too.
O.k sorry gals need to go back to sleep as tweenies ae settled! Yay happy 4m to my boys today too.
