No! No! No! She spoke to docs sister, and she says there is something wrong with baba, and something about only one vein in umbilical cord. Please ladies. Pray!

Looks like i am not the only one with hubby working away, DH travels overseas every month or every six weeks , i am now 32 weeks and he is off again next week for 3 weeks to US which means he will be back 4 weeks before due date ( praying bubba doesnt come early) and after that i have banned him from traveling for couple of months. Our next scan is on 5th May and he wont be here :( (final one to establish how plump she is going th be) so might take a friend with me for bit of support.

Are any of you mommies in Durban North area?

Good Morning

AHA? I'm with Esmari on this one. Do your own research. SOunds like your doctor maybe exagerating a bit there. But on the other hand if there is any risk of brain damage as he said, no matter how small, i'd also not take the chance.

I've been feeling a bit depressed, with hubby not around. Spent the whole weekend in doors. On the bright side he's trying to cut his trip short. Hoping he'll be home by the end of the week. Just glad he'll be back in time for our next appt next week Tuesday. I hate feeling so needy!! :(

Hope everyone had a good weekend. :silly:

MsDee men have absolutely NO idea of what it's like to be pregnant. The raging hormones, aching body, worries AND feeling like a beached whale - all at the same time. Being told that you are big does not go down well at all. In fact it hits a nerve that really hurts. As you say, we aren't Hollywood actresses. Mind you - imagine the pressure they feel not to get big and very unglamorous! Yikes!! :) At least we only have our men to comment on our bodies - imagine it being discussed all over the tabloids! hehe. Pregnancy is NOT easy and I also know the pain of many years of negative pregnancy tests. When I have a bad day, when I feel I can't cope with being pregnant (or single and pregnant) I go to the TTC threads and read there for a bit. I am reminded of the TTC pain. Suddenly I feel very blessed and grounded. It helps me :)

I've been thinking about the DHs that are worried about wives giving birth naturally etc and then I got all p'd off. My BF really wants me to have a natural. Doesn't he worry about my body and my pain? Or does he just want to have the authentic birth experience - at any cost? Hmmmm

Thamu I don't know how it feels to be pregnant and 27, but I tell you that my 42 year old body is very tired and achy! I tell you that pregnancy was definitely meant for the younger body :)

This being said..I am very glad that I am pregnant through all the aches and pains! :) God has blessed me :)

Thamu & Solo, you are both so right. If these men understood the strain of being pregnant & also not to sound ungrateful cause i know the pain of a negative preg test. But this is not a walk in the park & we are not hollywood actresses with personal trainers dieticians and 100 nannies. So excuse us for looking and feeling less than glamourous!

But i do agree that there is the other side of not knowing their fears and them not having a place to express all of that. So i guess we'll never understand what goes on in their heads.

Hi Moomies

My heart goes to your SIL Esmari and i do hope all is well and she manages these two weeks. I do hope MsDee you realise as you mentioned how blessed you are to be going through this and you shouldnt let the insensitivity of your DH get to you there is nothing you can do about your weight gain as long as the baby will be healthy thats all that matters otherwise its not worth it going through this pregnancy. I agree with Solo that i guess men dont knwo how to cope about this and dont have anywhere to go. Here we are getting emotional support from Moomies and talking to our moms but they dont have anywhere else to go . When we went fot that scan i didnt know my DH was depressed as i was the only one ranting about how i saw a boy yet he couldnt rant but almost went into some depression. i was sad because i couldnt be of much help as i also didnt know he also needed support.

@MsDee oon the Birth option for my 1st baby i had Normal Birth but no-one had prepared me for the pain that comes with the stitches and taking care of your new born the painful tuthes and all. For my second baby i had an unplanned Emergency Ceaser as i the waters just broke no sign of labour at all..... and i have never regretted worrying about the pain of the stitches i had done 5 years earlier as i found the CS more difficult and tough to deal with than the first. I guess what i am saying is as you have said a very personal experience you will have to go through and no one else will experience for you. I do hope whatever option it gives you a chance to be with your baby once born.

I went to day to see the hospital and see the SR in charge of the Birth Unit and am in deed praying that i have a natural Birth there, i havent seen such niceness in someone for a very long time. This is at Constantiaberg. I am at ease now with the hospital choice.

Besides that am just struggling with the issue that when i had my 2nd baby at 27, i was way more energetic and didnt get as tired as i am now. Did anyone ever experience this. I just cant believe the change and tiredness.

Tanasha, her blood tests showed a 5% chance of this, but they refused amnio and further testing. I am just so hoping that what she saw was nothing, and that in 2w all will be fine! Guess there is gonna be a lot of praying in the next 2w. She is staying with us while her dh is gone.

Sory if I dont do personals today.

Esmari I have ready teh post about your SIL and she is so calm! Why did she have a 5% chance of trisomy 18 again? delayed growth is a marker for trisomy 18. and usually the babies have cysts on their brain, maybe this is what she was checking? I really hope everything is ok for her. 2 weeks is indeed a long time! I am sure the dr justw ants to be extra careful, but she could have handled it differently. I dont think drs always know how much we stress!

Solo pregnancy is defenitly not my thing. and i am not ungrateful at all, we wanted this baby so badly and struggled long to get here, but I do not think that iw ill do this ever again!

My stretchmarks are getting worse :-( We are going to the Garda Lake in Italy (George Clooney has a lakehouse there) in May, and now I am dreading apperaing in my bikini with all these stretch marks.

BettyF enjoy your appointment and scan!
