Hi there ladies

Hope all is well?

Ankia shame hun, you should be very careful! Why don't you find out from midwife what you can take - it must be so sore in this cold weather!

Tanasha let us know how the glucose test goes!

Rest of the girls - hi!!!

Just quickly popping in to say hello and I'm 34 weeks officially today and I'm in Cameron's birth month!!!!! Whooohoooo!!! I cannot wait anymore - the excitement is really starting to kick in now. 3 weeks and 6 days and my little boy is here. If I feel like this now I'll probably be an energiser bunny the morning before I go in :)

Anyway - I'm doing good. My mom and I are going to be cooking again tomorrow - the last batches we made really froze very well so now tomorrow we have to make enough food to at least last a few weeks into Cameron's birth! So I'll be knackered again tomorrow evening lol.

All you girls should have a good weekend and keep warm!

Good Morning

Just caught something here and there
TaNasha, I do not think you have to worry, I did that test with William, because doc said that baby will be big and will be aroung 4.2 kg, he was only 3.35kg
The test is gross, if I am not mistaken, you can not eat before the time.
They draw blood, then they make you drink a very very sweet drink, it was not nice, then you have to wait for and hour or 2 and then do another blood test. Mine came out fine, and I was very mcuh overweight.

So we went to Spur last night, I did something and twisted my knee and dislocated it, second time, did it the first time last year July, so it is about a year back - hehe, just think about the date now
Luckily I could get it back, but i can not drink anything, except panado, and I do not know if I can take any anti inflamitory tablets, last year I could drink nurofens, and that helped alot.

I am going for my 4d tomorrow and can not wait, will come post some photo's on Monday

Have a great day, and Cape Town mommies, have a great meet on Sunday

TaNasha - I don't think the test is actually bad....just time consuming. In SA we have our urine tested at every check-up....strange that they don't do that over there too. Then only if something is found in your urine and your baby is measuring larger than expected will they send one for the full test. I'm sure it'll be fine and will be better to know for sure whether you have gestational diabetes or not - then you can change your diet accordingly etc. And lots of people say larger babies are easier to push out than small babies so just keep that as inspiration ;)

Sunette - so glad you will be joining us on Sunday! See you then.

Candi - yup, the Karma is similar to the 'like' button on facebook.

Hi everyone else!

X

Tanasha they should be testing your urine with every scan now to pick up these things, strange that they don't but I'm sure she has her reasons.

You know what, most of the time babies are measured big in the womb and then they're actually smaller when they're born! You'll do very well and will be just fine! If anyone can do it it's you ;-)

Thanks Laliek. I had my urine checked and bloods done when I was 27 weeks and that came back clear.

I am very worried about her size, if she is measuring 38.2 weeks now, what will she measure at 40 weeks? And how on earth am I going to push that out? :pinch:

Tanasha, I think it's mainly just a precaution that she's taking and I won't be very worried if I were you. It's just that your blood sugar levels are higher in pregancy than normal and most of the time it disappears after birth. What's strange to me is normally this is diagnosed between 24-28 weeks of pregnancy and not now? Cameron is also weighing and measuring 3 weeks in advance and my doc doesn't suspect anything wrong - for his size and brain meausre he was measuring at 35w5d and I was only 32w4d. Does she do a urine test every time your there? If I'm not mistaken they would have picked up something in your urine test already if it was that. Here's a very informative link that may give you peace of mind - www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001898/

Hi ladies,

Just quickly popping in< i just had a scan and baby is measuring 38.2 weeks while I am only 35.5 weeks. Gynea is sending me for a 4 hour Glutoce test tomorrow because she thinks I might have gestational diabetes.

Im scared, is this bad? I am too scared to google. Am I going to have a huge baby?

We dont have any history of diabetes in our family and my BMI is fine for my weight and height?
