Lastly...(THe scan showed that my placenta is lying very low which is or may be placenta previa (??). She just told me incase I have any light or heavy bleeding so I am aware of the cause and when to get to doc or hospital. She hopes at 20w foetal assessment scan the placenta will have moved. So fx that it won't cause problems!

Kimmymom flu should not affect baby, but if u have a high temperature then u need to see doc and let them check baby. I had pneumonia at 24w and thought it was just bad flu. Did hot toddy's and thank goodness I had a gynae visit that day. I was booked into hospital immediately as my lg's heartbeat was over 200bpm (can't remember exact number). My temp was 41 degrees! U had to see on monitor how uncomfortable she was:( they needed to get my temp down pronto...I had no idea and thought I could not take meds, so no point going to doc. Spent 5 days in hospital!!So please go to doc especially if u have fever, even if u just get paracetemol...u know a professional has checked u out!

Hi ladies

Maryka how are u feeling today? I agree with Mandy...don't not take meds if it can help!

Nelia how did scan go?

Karatemum then I'm glad u don't drive hey?? Hubby used to suffer from seizures...I used to be so nervous of him driving, but usually he could feel an attack coming on and never had problem while driving. Just the month before we conceived Addison he had his very last seizute! I was so glad. Is your blackouts pregnancy related only?

The downs scan was great. Baby was so active:) everything looked good. Size was spot on for weeks I am...12w2d today. Have normal check up next week with gynae on 30th...so that's great to see baby again:)baby weighing 54gm, almost 6cm...apparently a bar one weighs about 55gms.

Ms...eish...no relief yet. Luckily no nausea...I eat, I get sick and its over. Downside is I'm very cold all the time as I haven't been eating this week really. I'm not sure how its linked, but I'm sure it is.

Ashleigh...did u have scan today?

Hi soon to be mom's,

I haven't told family and friends yet, so i need some advice.

I'm 11 weeks pregnant will my baby be affected if I've got the flu?
Its not a bad flu, but I'm worried its going to get worse, because I can't take the usual medicines like flusin and med lemon.

Any advice for the first timer would be great

Enjoy your evening!

Hello everyone,

Ashley, holding thumbs, glad your blood test is so +.

Maryke, Thinking of you, I also get real bad days, whenI just feel like crying all day, feel like a bad mom and bad wife and bad 'huisvrou' and just bad.
The feel good days are a lot less at these times. Hopeyou get everything sorted out.

So, we had our scan this morning. Peanut is 5.2cm long. Heartbeat is 170. (I read that heartbeat 140-160 is normally a boy and above 160 normally girl. It will be interesting to see if there is any truth in that) Peanut was asleep when the dr started the scan, but woke up halfway. What an energetic little baby! It was too cute! we saw fingers and feet, all thw way! Everything else also seems fine.

We talked about having down tests and dedided not to do it. We also made that decision with previous pregnancies. were not going to do an amnio, so decided to leave the rest also.

So, so far so good. Just wish the MS would end now. Simone, I feel for you :S

xx

Simone - I don't drive, we don't even have a car so that's fine, but still scary none the less. Good luck for your scan - let us know how it goes.

Ashleigh - yeah for the bloods looking so good, and good luck for your scan. Yup it's not nice having the blackouts, but oh well!

Maryka - Glad the scan went well. This "new" flu is actually swine flu that is back, I was warned by my dr and even the lady in the office here with me had it! I don't think there is such a thing as a sparkling mum, I think we all have our times when we don't enjoy it! I know I sure do, don't be so hard on yourself, and with the preggie hormones it makes it worse!

I only have a scan again on the 9th July! It seems so far away, but life is a waiting game :)

Another blackout this morning, I need to monitor them and see what's happening although so far no pattern or anything and sometimes even after I have eaten so no idea what's up. GP thinks I may have to go back into hospital if it continues, so not looking forward to that. but need to report all the findings of my monitoring to the gynae when I see him.

Hi Maryke

Glad you feel you can share with us, allow yourself to feel and well done for recognising and deciding that you dont want to go down the same road. It is a HUGE physical and emotional change in your life and I think I am a strong and well balanced emotional woman, but I reallllly battled for the first YEAR with my new child. I wasnt depressed, I just felt that I was in SHOCK that I was responsible for this new life and so was sleep deprived and felt quite alone.. actually the gynae that checked all of us out of the maternity ward on the same day prescribed a months worth of Eglonyl - which is a mood enhancer and helps with breast milk and I took it, and i think it did help me a bit.. I think anything homepathic is a great idea, but dont say no to meds if it helped you last time. I also really think that the more support you have and the more you can express how you feel and find ways to feel better as you go along will help!
I must say, I have been trying more, but i dont cry often and I am enjoying being more in touch with my sensitive side! My son bashed his head on my nose this morning and I burst into tears and I dont think ive cried infront of him for a lonnnnnnnggg time, and we were alone, so he said, its okay mommy, daddys coming and hugged me! tooo precious!!

anyhoo - fight for yourself like you are Maryke! Sorry you are feeling down :(

okay gals - the rest of you, have a good day...

Chat soon! and lets hear about all those scans today!!!! :) :)
