I always wanted a little girl with the name of Kayla... but by the time we found out that we were expecting a girl 3 of our friends named their daughters Kayla so dh said no way... its too confusing. I was mouning to a lady at work about the fact that my poor baby still doesnt have a name (I was about 8 months preggers at the time) and she said what about Micheala... So I changed the spelling a bit to Mikayla :P and hubby loved it too! As far as I know it means "Who is like God?"

Wian is the name Mikayla chose for her brother the day I told her she was going to be a big sister. I was about 8 weeks pregnant and we didn't even know if it was a boy yet.. She just kept on talking about her brother Wian in mommy's tummy.. I guess it growed on us and we never even considered another name. When the dr could finally tell us the sex, he said to Mik, congrats, its a baby brother.... she look at him like he was being completely daft and said, I know!! LOL I have no idea what Wian means though...

Blessed with a beautiful daughter and an awesome baby boy!

A few months before I got pregnant I had a dream that I was pregnant with a boy and his name was Jayden - I told DH this...and it stayed with me.

Then we found out I was pregnant :) Everyone said it was going to be a girl...I really had a struggle with that, because it just felt to me that my dream meant something. So when I was 7months old, we finally found out it was a boy...we have decided earlier that if it was a boy he would be called Jayden, and if it was a girl she would be Kaylee.

Jayden means God has heard - and it really meant so much to me, my dream, becoming pregnant and then only finding out at 7months the gender, because I really battled and prayed and had inner battles, I wanted a boy as a 1st born so badly (issues with me being the oldest daughter and not having such a great relationship with my mom)...

My girl's name is Zhanelle (pronounced like "Juan-elle").

DH & I battled to find a girl name, one day he came home and said we should call her Chanel (I heard Zhanelle). I always wanted a name starting with a Z and immediately started announcing that her name will be Zhanelle. About a week before her birth the ad for Chanel no5 was on tv and he commented how she would be named after a perfume.

Her name was a pure misunderstanding, but I like it!!

We live in Krugersdorp
Zhanelle was born on 20 Jan 2009
Having a child is much harder than I thought it would be!!

Great topic! Lovely names ladies!
In high school I read a book by a south african author who had one of the characters named "Nyiko" that name stuck with me and it means Gift. So when we found out we were expecting I already knew my Name but his dad stumbled across "Amara" on the net and he liked it, we found out it means Eternal/Unfading beauty. So we decided on those names for us the meaning " Gods eternal/unfading gift" because he will always be an unfading and eternal gift to us.

Amara born 2 December 2009 Weight 3.30
Kwakhanya born 1 April 2015
weight 3.41kg
Mommy to 2 beautiful boys.

Again ladies gorgeous names for yo little ones, names seem to have more weight n meaning once u know the reason behind it being picked. Having said that it's not an easy job funny enaf finding the rite name, I remember growing up I picked names I liked n hoped to give to my kids. 15 years later they sound old fashioned or u meet someone with that name who u turns u off yo name coz u end up associating the name with that person .....LOL
