heart YOUR BABY(S) NAME AND THE INSPIRATION BEHIND

Well when we were pregnant with Em we didnt know the sex, so we chose 2 names.
Emily Alison which we had chosen before we even fell pregnant
And then David Matthew
However suddenly DH didn't want David, he wanted Daniel. I wanted David because it was my grandfathers and my fathers name. I was meant to be Daniel, which is my dads second name.
Anyways we fought for about 5 months and then decided seeing we couldn't agree we would choose an entirely different name and chose Conner.

Well we had a girl, so the fighting was for nothing.
Emily means Admiring, and Alison (my moms name) means ray of light.
I wanted my families names in my childrens name because they get DH's family surname.

This time once again we didn't know the sex so chose 2 names.
However neither of us had thought of names before so went through babies names and chose our top 10 for both and then every 2 weeks would go yes/no/maybe for each of the names untill we were left with Kate Elizabeth or Samuel Matthew

Kate, meaning Pure/virginal
Elizabeth (DH's maternal grans name and my maternal great grans name) which means Consecrated to God

With the potenial boys names, Samuel was my great grandfathers second name and Matthew of course is DH's name.

Oh, and my baby's second name is Louise - that's my mom's name. She died when I was a little girl, and my whole like I knew I'd like to keep her name alive, but I didn't want my little girl to be weighed down by a name that would make some people sad everytime they heard it.

ahhh lekker thread!

When we decide to have kids hubby always said if it's a boy it will be the family name Diederik Arnoldus Dahms I wasn't very impressed and told him ok but we wal call him Aiden for short....he was fine with that. But so we ended up having a little girl and I thought, seeing that we doing the family name I will use my moms she is Barbara Jane and I called my daughter Frances-Jane......so after a year we started planning the second baby and still hubby said if it's a boy it will be the family name and blah blah blah......and if it will be a girl I would name her after his sister Mari but also desided on a double barrel so she would have been called Mishcke-Mari.

When we found out we where pregnant hubby got so excited and said it's a boy... well......did we get a suprise when the scan showed two little bodies I thought o my gosh here comes Aiden and Mischke, then I thought what if it's two girls or two boys, my first choice for the first born girl would be Mischke-Mari and the second will be Llewellyn-Jade shame she wouldn't have had a family name, the boys would have obviously been Diederik first born and second born would still be Llewellyn Leon, Leon being my dads name.

We had two boys so all three my kiddies got family names

If I remember correct these where there meanings

Frances-Jane means Gift from God
Aiden - Sore like an Eagle
Llewellyn - Lion

I was lucky I picked all our kids names well except for Aiden but I still got to pick his nickname

Bubbles I like Lwandile very nice

My little girl's name is Ruby. We didn't find out her sex, and everyone was sure we were having a boy. We knew what we would call a boy, but really battled to find a girl's name. I wanted a short strong name that wasn't likely to be shortened. But every time we found a name we liked we'd meet someone who's dog or cat was named that name!! I stumbled upon the name Ruby and really liked it. Turned out it's her great grandmothers name - which I didn't know. Of course I let my mother in law believe that's why we chose the name - major brownie points ;) The shortness of the name didn't help - most of our friend and her father call her Rubz :S
