Nienke was going to be a Nika or Mika or Isabella. While I LOVED all those names, it just didn't feel right.

Before she was born, I told my husband, she will come once she has her name. My dad then suggested Nienke but co-incidently I also came across the name in my many google searches. It means "Pure" in Greek.

That evening, I suggested the name to my husband and we both fell in love with it. The next morning at 7 am, my water broke. She was born 10 hours later. :-)

Lovely topic and so nice to hear all the stories!!!

I also always had names chosen but now they are so old fashioned. I wanted Nathan and Natasha Lee.

After I got married I used to watch the credits run after movies and read all the names to get to see what names I liked / didnt like - also with characters in stories.
We watched Firefly a few years back and the one girl is Kaylee (Actually a longer name but shortened to this) - well the name simply stuck. DH always wanted a girl named Rei (Japanese spelling) also a name he heard on an anime series Evangelion but Kaylee just seemed more right for me at the time. No second names, however if I could I'd give her "Joy" as a second name as she has a prophetic word of Joy over her life and that's already evident!

So if we have another girl she will be Rei.
And if we have a boy we will have to decide between Eli and Kai.
I like both equally, but will probably let DH have his Kai since he didnt get Rei.

I also love Leah but now that we have Kaylee we cant have another 'lee'.

Maybe I must just have 5 kids :D

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

I have always liked certain Bible names... Matthew, Luke, Mark, Noah, James and John..

While preggies and deciding on a name for our LB, I like Matthew but his father did not like it that much, then we thought about using John but it was used to often, we decided to then use Luke, we both liked the name very much especially when speaking to my belly...

Luke's 2nd name is Christian..

My dad's 2nd name is Christiaan, so I decided to give Luke the English version - Christian (I wanted him to have a name that was in the family even if it was my dad's 2nd name as his 2nd name).

My dad was very happy about this and also happy that Luke has his surname - which is Rheeder.

Luke's father and I split up when I was 6 months preggies and a few people suggested I change his 1st name seeing that his father wanted nothing to do with him - but I just felt it was wrong.

So my LB is named: LUKE CHRISTIAN RHEEDER.

Everyone calls him Lukie boy tho.... hehe

Wow what a beautiful topic!

I have 2 childern: NURIYA and MOGAMMAD IHSAAN both chosen by my hubby and I.

NURIYA: means Fire of God in hebrew and Radiance, Light of God in Arabic

She has truly been a guiding light in our lives from the time she was conceived:) and a reminder of our Lord's blessings upon us, and how we should honour that blessing by being an example to our kids.

MOGAMMAD IHSAAN: 1st name Mogammad - means the one who is praised and the name of our beloved prophet. It is tradition to name 1st born boy with this 1st name, and whats wonderful is my hubby name is Mogammad.

2nd name Ihsaan- Excellence/ Good, but its greater meaning is To worship God as though you see him and even though you do not see Him, He indeed sees you.

Hope to have more kids some day Inshallah (God Willing).
