palesa, I was very lucky indeed.

I just had massive problems with my med aid. They didn't want to auth my admission. They said I didn't enclose that I had kidney problems before, which was absolute bull.
I had everybody trying to get the damn auth no from the med aid, at the end of the day my broker that deals with my med aid managed to sort it out after so many hours of being there.

I went in for the op after 8 that night, take note, I was there from the morning!!!!! I thought it was going to be an easy op as he was going to use a laser to break the stone into pieces but I woke up with freakin massive pain in my abdomen. The kidney stone was to big so he had to surgically remove it & because he is an old doc & uses old school methods, he didn't go through my c-section scar, he made a long vertical cut on the left side of my stomach. I just wanted to cry because now my hospital stay went from an overnight stay, to 4 days in hospital. I had a damn drain hanging from my stomach & struggled to walk.

I had to worry about my daughter as I was a stay at home mom at the time & didn't have anybody to look after her. I didn't have a domestic so who was going to clean the house, iron, do the washing etc but my sisters were absolutely wonderful & helped my husband.

Now, I have a horrible scar on my tummy, but I went to a plastic surgeon about 8 months ago & he cut the old scar out so that we can treat it right from the start. The scar is not so thick anymore & I have to treat it with a certain cream twice a day & need to give it a year for it to be almost invisible ai ai ai.................the drama!

and so the saga continues

momtoc like i said tv series stuff right there.lol. you were very lucky hey that doc in durban was just hopeless.

does this mean no natural birth for you then momtoc? i hear c-section is the worst kind of pain. i had a natural birth no stitches so after the babies birth i was just normal(crossing my fingers for the same to happen).

The saga continues.

So let me continue with my story :-)

palesa, you asked me if I was working at the time, yes I was. I was working in the bank. I was the treasury custodian :woohoo: I sat in the back office with the bulk teller, which helped me tremendously & he could just take over when I couldn't function. It was major pressure on me cause I had to help the tellers when they needed money or when they had to sent money back to me, I had to help forex with the same thing & I had to sent money away when we had too much etc. I was in hospital for a week when I was admitted & the day I went to my gynae I left everything just like that as I thought I was going back to work so my husband(who was working in the same branch & also had all the teller experience) had to cash up my safe & do all the necessary things.....

So before they did the c-section, the urologist quickly came in & removed the stents like in 30 secs........amazing I tell you! My kidneys were fine after that but a year later I experienced that pain all over again  We were in Durbs at the time, my lg was about 13 months old & it was day 5 of our holiday when I woke up with terrible pain on the sides of my back & it quickly moved to the front but I just knew what it was..........the pain escalates soooooo quickly, it's not even funny. Had to rush to Margate Hospital where they 1st had to do a few scans before they could give me any meds. I really felt like dying cause they had to do the one scan in intervals. That is where they inject you with iodine so that they can see how your urine passes through the urinary tract & it also magnifies your organs on the xrays. So at the end of the day they could pick up that there was indeed a kidney stone but they wanted to keep me in hospital but I told them I couldn't as we were on holiday & had to leave in 2 days so the doc gave me meds to try & open up the pipes for the stone to pass through. We went home & I told my husband that we had to pack up now & go home as I need to get to my urologist asap. I was basically in pain for almost a week as my urologist was so busy they couldn't fit me in sooner but in any case I managed to get to him, showed him the xray & he was furious with the doc in durban because the kidney stone was lodged just above my bladder & there was no way any meds with get it out there. He wanted to admit me asap as he said if he doesn't get that stone out today, I would lose my kidney. He was so concerned about me & couldn't believe that I was walking with that pain for so long but the drama didn't end there...........

note: tummy pic when i actually have a preggy tummy.

Hello hello hello

Marijke, come now, don't be shy in posting that bump. We are all friends here :)
Very glad the scan went well. I'm just trying to picture that face pic of baby now he he
Sorry about your gynae not giving you the option of going the vbac route. Hopefully you WILL come right with the other docs.

Magz, I'm also eating way too much with this pregnancy & starting to worry about excess weight gain :pinch: I won't say that I'm just snacking & eating unhealthy stuff but I'm eating large portions of food. I'm eating fruits & yogurt but definitely not getting enough water in but it's really hard with this icey cold weather.

An appendix op is just as hectic & a very dangerous thing when you leave the problem too long & it burst. Luckily you are fine!

Let me tell you, having a c-section done & it's not even to have a baby is definitely 10 times worse pain wise. That little baby definitely does take your mind off the pain. So I've had the honour have experiencing 2 different types of c-sections!!!

I understand your frustration with not feeling movements & thinking that you are not in tune with your body. I sometimes feel the same but try & relax at night & just lie still & put your hands on different places, you might feel something but you still have time up until 22 weeks. Some women just start feeling it a little later. You will feel those kicks, don't worry (hugs)

palesa, reading my post like a novel ha ha ha. I will continue with my life story just for you :-) see post to follow........

Hey everyone,

Spent quite a while catching up! You have been busy, or I am just very behind on posting and reading!

Love all the bump pics, I still haven't taken one and after seeing all the tiny bodies I'm not so sure I'll be willing to share!

Magz, don't worry about not feeling anything yet, your placenta could just be in the way or baby could be kicking to the back and first time round when you actually do start feeling it and knowing what it is you will realize that you actually felt it before.

Just an update from my side. We went for our 20/21 week scan this morning, everything is looking great with baby, couldn't see face because baby was laying nose to placenta so we have a face pic with no nose which is kinda freaky!

Saw the gynea afterwards, she told me that she booked me for a c-sec on the 6th of November, my mouth must have fell open because she gave me a strange look and I said that I'm not sure yet that that's the way I want to go and she said if I'm considering natural then I have to find a new doctor and she doesn't know of any doctor in the area (paarl) that would support my decision. So midwife and dr dumbrill, Vincent Pallotti here we come (a 40min drive if there is no other traffic, but N7 and N1 for us in rush hour, hmmm but not going to stress about that yet)

Baby is not enjoying the laptop on my tummy, so I'm going to call it a night. Hope you all have a great Tuesday
