Momtoc, it was very hard in the beginning (last week), but we did half-days for the 4 days. I took two afternoons off and hubby took one off and on Friday I had a friend pick her up. Isla has always been very easy in the mornings, I made a habit of going out with her and had a "Fitmommy" group 3 mornings a week, where she got to interact with other babies. So I knew she would be ok at the creche in the mornings.
afternoons were what I worried about, so when she started doing full days this week (7:00 - 16:00) it was pretty tough on me. But it seems she's not bothered at all, she loves her caretakers and at the moment there are only 3 babies in the afternoons with two caretakers, so she gets lots of attention. every afternoon I've picked her up she is either napping or being entertained by the two ladies there. They say she laughs all the time, so that really put my mind at ease.
Thats great that you can go on breastfeeding so long! I decided against expressing at work since my office is not very private, but hoping that the morning/evening feeds will still do the trick now she's at creche. She will be 6 months on the 22nd, so I feel comfortable with that.
I have read about Baby Led Weaning, and it sounds very interesting. Isla feeds herself half of the time, we only started solids after she started taking food out of my hands when I eat (and trying to get to my coffee when I drink). So I give her pieces of food to suck on, which she loves, but we also spoonfeed her, since that is what they do at creche. Even then she'lll grasp the spoon and try to feed herself (it mostly ends up on her face

I do think the fact that we let her experience feeding herself helped a lot in her being so happy with her food.
You were also considering a creche, if I remember correctly? Or are you going to get a nanny?
