I missed out on the chat yesterday sorry.
I am okay but Liwa has some issues, cant wait till we go to the
Paed next week for the 6weeks check. The whole day yday she
wouldnt sleep, she was eating eating. Atleast now she is sleeping hope what ever it was is gone. Still not sleeping well at night I think
she woke up 3 times last night and she poed twice.

With Liwa she doesnt care whether its the boob or the bottle as long as its food she takes.

Glad all is well with you ladies. Oh Kerry I really envy you, I cant wait for the day when I can sleep for 7hrs straight at night.

Sonay - yes thats exactly it - Their bodies may be having trouble digesting the lactose in your milk... and so it sits in their tummys undigested causing gas...


ooh she's grumpy today! Just want to cry and cry... i think its her growth spurt... but going to thepaed tomorrow for a follow up

I think she may have gotten the flu... daddy gave it to me and i gues... i gave it to her... her nose is all blocked

The drops you using, is it something that basically help baby to break down lactase? My cousin, a "maternity/pediatric" nurse, said I should get that just to assist baby's enzymes.
ATM I feel that I'm experimenting with too much things, so will stick to it for the next week or so before trying anything else.

Must say, after a very trying evening last night, cried form about 20h30 till 23h30, didn't want to breastfeed, then I realise I don't have milk, dad eventually made her some weak rooibos tea, of which she had about 10 ml, she slept till 04h30. I then breastfed and she went back to sleep till 6. Feed and change nappy, then she was just laying here, very content. I left her with my SIL to take our son to school, and when I got back she was sleeping. Still sleeping now.

Holding thumbs that things will get better from now.

Hey Sonay... Kaelyn also has her crying session every night, but when i went to paed and we told her that both my hubby and my brother had lactose trouble when they were babies she recommended lactaze enzyme and and gave me these drops to give her with every feed... they ran out and i sent my mom to get more and she back with a different brand but the worked better

Go to dischem or a baby shop and ask for colief drops... they are in a small yellow/orange box with green writing... you give baby 4 drops in the mouth before each feed... i tell you what a difference... they cost R160ish a bottle so it's not the cheapest... but i swear i would pay three times that for the difference they make for my little one... honest i would!

KerryA, I AM SOOOOO JEALOUS!!!!! Enjoy it though.

As for us, we're sleep deprived but doing fine otherwise. Took little madam to the pead again on Friday and she is growing nicely. 5 cm taller and picked up average 200g per week since birth. Up till Friday I exclusively breastfed. She seemd to be suffering from colic, yes we have regular crying sessions in the afternoons. Doc suggest I add a top up feed of formula and that she can get water or rooibos tea, especially in this hot weather we're experiencing at the moment. He also said I should give her some Reuteri drops and try the Bennets Colic mixture. Gave her the drops since Friday. Didn't try the bennet's since I got the Sr Lilian Colicare tabs. Still waiting to see if it all works.
We however had a very bad night on Friday, didn't sleep a wink, so Sat morning I let Dad take over and because he just wanted me to get some snooze, he gave her a bottle of formula. I was not to happy, especially when she didn't want to drink from me for the whole of Sat. I had to pump out twice, since my boobs started forming lumps. Last night I had her back on my breast and after playing a bit, she's now again drinking fine.

Don't know about you ladies, but I am still very emotional. Had a good crying and venting session with DH last night. At least now he knows how I feel about everything and he is still fully supporting my choice to want to BF.

Will pop in again when our princess allows me.

Now I'm off to get our girl her ONE MONTH CAKE.

look who's up and bored at 5 am... well from 2... watched a movie before coming here

Gonna make you go green now.... baby K Slept for 7 hours last night... and i got at least 7 and a half of that sleeping too... then she fed and fell asleep on the boob... and slept three more so i slept ... and then three more and when she woke hubby took her to play... and i slept... practically from 8:30pm to 9am... with two 30min feed times...

tonight though, shes gone back to 5 hours... and i cant sleep...

anyways... shes doing soo good... can hold her head up unassisted.... can push up with her arms already... follows musical toys with her eyes from side to side... even turns her head some times...

but during the day likes to spend about an hour awake after eah feed... just looking about...

oh and did i mention likes to hold the collar of my top while sleepin on my chest... or daddys chain... it's oh so sweet

I mean tying your tummy with a belt to help it get back to its normal self. My tummy didnt go down on its own unfortunaltely. I have managed to loose about 10kgs but I know I have to assist my body to loose the rest or else I will remain big.

You were lucky to have stopped bleeding early girl, I wasnt that lucky. I n any case there is really no time for us to be intimate, with 2kids and hubbys studies plus work I doubt it.

I live in Midrand but I gave birth at Fourways Life. Wow thats nice coz Sher also live close to Fourways.
