True Mandy. I see absolutely no point in even contemplating downs until after the tests. For now you just need to trust that your little bean is perfect in every way.

Someone just had their bank card cloned. Shame, not nice at all. Other than that nothing much happening.

This trip has flown by. Amazing really. My sinusitus is back so not feeling great but it isn't too bad. Left my cortisone at home. Clever!

We are going to the markets tomorrow and then out to dinner tomorrow night and again on sat night and then Monday we will just do last minute things before we had to airport at midnight for our early morning flight home on tuesday. I am going to take Dylan out of school on wed so that we can spend the day together. Maybe take him to the aquarium.

Hi Simone, Yes the day I had my bloods the Gynae did a scan and checked what he thought of the downs measurements etc and he confirmed very good results so when he called about the scan his opinion was although not a great figure, based on the scan he is not too worried about it actually being downs but now i need to know.

Julz - you are right, i do know of loads of people who have had amnios, ( i dont know of one who miscarried as a result) and I dont know ONE who got a downs result, but as we know, it is still a possiblity for me.. so the test alone is just not conclusive at all, even the foetal assessment is not conclusive, so I cant count on that now that i have doubts.. sorry, Im sorry little bean to put you at risk thought the amnio but I need to do it..

So when i called the specialists office, they said that the put me on the waiting list for the week of the 10th and the week of the 18th July and THEY WILL SQUEEZE me in at some point then. so I can expect a call next week or the week after. They did ask me to prepare mentally for the amnio which i said, I am doing..

of course all the stories are coming out of the woodwork now of people in similar situations and my dad encouraged me to call a friend of his whos baby was confirmed downs and who terminated and i said NO, I dont want to live the negative stories for the next few weeks, only positive. if and when i need to know about the bad, because that is confirmed our situation then i will have plenty of time to find out the facts...

Sorry to bring this up again, but it is alllll that i can think of !! trying to work and focus on OTHER things -

this week end I am SURE i will be able to unwind with some friends though! I am feeling fab besides this though and Im feeling protective about my bean, like, I know he or she is fine, and I just need to wait to confirm this and push away the doubt!!

Nicole glad K ate well:) I have given up on supper. Offered Addison soup, pasta, pizza, wors and mash last night. Really what more could a kid want??? (dont ask why we had so much food....lol). She wanted none of it and went to bed having eaten nothing. But she eats a good breakfast and well during the day so really not a worry to me. She's a healthy 14kgs!! lol. So no need for me to worry.

AFM....doing well....no complaints...just very cold everyday. Addison's new thing is she refers to G as 'your husband'. 'See mummy I am tramping on your husband's bag! I am going to tickle your husband!' lol. Its very cute. And to G she refers to me as 'your wife' at times.

Girls I will catch up but Mandy I just wanted to chat to you about Downs.

Firstly I am totally with you on the choice to terminate. Neil and felt the same way. I know many do not feel that way but each to their own so no judgement from my side.

Here is the thing. Those tests give an indication, but are FAR from accurate. My friend's friend was told she had a 1 in 2 of downs from her blood test and she did an amnio and all was fine. Even their specialist fetal assessment said it looked like downes as the neck was abnormal!!!!!

The bloods and scan together are only an indication and will not give you a absolute answer. The only way to really make sure is through an amnio which carries a 1% chance of miscarriage.

I had my scan done at 14 weeks so if you are concerned book your scan now and do what it takes to have peace of mind. Take it one step at a time.

I just feel that that blood test isn't idea, but it really isn't anywhere near accurate.

Oh Mandy...sorry I woke you up!! I just had to send you a hug right then my friend:) Please try and book the foetal scan...here in PE we do the scan and bloods on the exact same day. They say the scan is about 90% (I could be out with my figures) conclusive and the bloods add that other 10%.

Its amazing how things get put into perpective for a person....I was worrying about getting pee'd on by a baby boy...and here you got this news:( We are ALL PRAYING that once you have scan (if you have it) it will perhaps just bring those odds right down to 1 in 1000 or something like that!

hello gals, thanks for all the bits of support and advice offered! I have told my boss since she needs to know whats going on when I take leave etc and told family but besides that I dont want a negative cloud over my happy pregnancy thus far, so I wont be telling anyone else besides you gals ! I actually slept quite well even though when i am awake i am trying to get rid of that pit in the bottom of my tummy! I tried to call the specialist but they didnt answer, so will have to try again.

Vix - I saw on facebook that you had a tough sleepless night due to teething! sorry hon! really really really the worst. hope it passes sooner rather than later!
