Oct/Nov 2008 mommies!

My goodness what an eventful evening and night. From 5pm feed Jonathan was a real pain! He took the breast for 10min then stopped to burp and wouldn't latch again so eventually after ages of trying he fell asleep so I layed him down, then Alex woke, then Jono woke then Alex woke then Jono woke and that is how the evening went in 2hr rotations so we weren't without a child at any point. Then the bloody nneighbours decided 7:30 was a nice time to pich up at my door to see Jono, they wouldn't leave even though Alex was screaming for a feed. Finally at 8:30 they left so I was able to bath and feed the boys. Only then at 10pm did I even begin to sort out the one million things I needed to do. They woke at 12:30 again so DH and I each fed one preNan from the bottle and put them back just after 1. Wow we were Knackered and to top it off Jonathan has started being restless unless he's being held so now I am fighting against that because he just won't relax in his cot. I think because suddenly he has been held properly for the first time ever now he doesn't want it to stop. I'm suddenly struggling with him and the breast, He is refusing it more and more each feed til basically I am at breaking point trying to get him to latch. Now he's just screaming and won't even shut his mouth around the breast to try. I'm really irritated because I know he can latch so well but now he's being fussy. It's impossible to feed 2 babies at the same time when one is bottle fed because you need both hands to bottle feed. If he can just take properly to the boob my life will become 100 times easier.

I need to go express now because I am horribly engorged.

Vix hectic times for you. Just wanted to let you know that our clinic sister said don't spend 20 min trying to burp the baby. If after 5 min nothing leave it don't stress it comes out eventually. It may be really important for very small babies so I am not sure about your situation but just wanted to pass the tip on.

Dylan lost weight when he went onto the bottle so not sure buy yes breastfeeing really exhausts them. I know dylan used to use me as a dummy though mostly. When he was older he would take 10 minutes max to feed.

Oh I am so envious. I loved breastfeeding.

okay so I am a bit miffed. Skyped Neil tonight and he is not in a great mood. Dylan is acting up which is to be expected as he has had a change of school and now I am gone and neil decided to take the dummy away apart from sleeping so what do you expect. He wasn't in a great mood and I haven't chatted to him or Dylan much so it was the last thing I needed. I am actually really pissed off now that I write this. Anyway he apologised.

I keep on trying to explain to Neil that dylan needs a break. Neil is a busy body and kind of expects others to keep up and I know Dylan , he needs quite time out at home to function and I don't think he is getting it. Anyway lets hope they don't kill each other this weekend.

We went shopping today.got all the kiddies gifts. I went super cheap this year...cant afford to be paying til next xmas like I did for last year's gifts!

Jerk next door playing loud freakin music all day...and for good measure they rev a motor bike every 15min! F*** man!

Gerard and I went for coffee this afternoon...was nice to have some alone time.left Addy with my mom and kaylin.

Vixs so pleased 2 hear both boys are doing so well! How was C reaction 2 Jono? We have had a lovely day in the sun and K ate so well today,lots of fruit and veg-finally! We are have a braai this eve. Shame my dad gave us money 4 wedding gift and xmas 4rm his bonus,felt bad but he insisted,the r3000 will help though as we didnt get a bonus. Hope everyone has a lovely eve.

Jess- No No you can have them, I'm just looking for someone who will use them or they'll just sit in my cupboard for 5 years before I throw them away. I have decided this time around as I am finiahed with anything baby related I'm getting rid of it because I don't have space to keep things I'll never use again. Shame your baba will probably be bigger than my 2 even in March when he is just born and they are a few month old otherwise you could have their clothes.

Lisha- Interestingly iris was BF for a long time too and she is also really petite, I wonder how big Ethan is ARA? I'm sure it must be something to do with the energy used to suckle.

Wow, I am really going to get no time for anything other than babies, it takes 30min to feed each baby plus winding time so well over an hour to feed them and they feed 3hrly so I have about 1:30 in between, I'm going to be a walking Zombie! Oh well, I'm happy just to have them home and at least this time I know that it will get better one day.

I need chocolate but I can't eat it because of the cramps, maybe I must get some milkybar, oh well vanilla ice cream will have to do for now.

So we're home, we arrived in time for the 11am feed. Both babies woke at the same time but Jonathan wasn't interested in the breast so I fed Alex and put him to bed so I could continue in peace with Jono. He got highly upset with me trying to give him the breast so I gave him a bottle which he gulped down and I sent Elwyn to go buy nipple sheilds to see if that will help. My pead did say that sometimes with premmies the nipple can just be a bit big or it could be too soft to touch compared to the bottle he's been fed. Also he has to get used to having a huge chunck of flesh behind the teat compared to the open ness of the bottle. We'll see what happens. They slept between feeds and have just gone back down after the next feed so far so good. We'll see how the night duty goes.

Lisha- I hope your lunch function was nice.

Nicole- I also love board games, especially at christmas time, just seems wrong not to play games at christmas.
