Shame Kerry, hope you feel better. Nice to have the house to yourself so you can recover!
We are not going to do a huge party for John's birthday we have decided. I'm going to bake him a cake that he can put his hands and face in and rub all over the place and we'll have the family round for a braai or something. We have quite a large family between the 2 of us anyways so it will be enough people. I just thought we put in alot of effort for the baptism so we will do a relaxed 1st birthday.

Thanks for asking us! I think we will probably be doing the family braai on the same day but I will let you know closer to the time.

Shame John has a cold today, not sure if its just the weather. Runny nose and lots of sneezing. He is sleeping now. I managed to look in his mouth and it looks like the left 2nd incisor is almost through so that would explain all his teething niggles.

But if you girls wanna lynch Jeanine then you're gonna wanna burn me at the stake because John has slept through the last few nights, despite his teething. He wakes at about 5/ 5H30 when DH gets up. Its his normal routine actually, I am very blessed I know.

Aaa Jeanine enjoy the ballet, and romeo and juliet is such a romantic one. I went to the ballet a few years ago with DH and my mom and sister - to Swan Lake. It was so beautiful although DH was less impressed. But he is taking me to Jesus Christ Superstar for my birthday so I am very excited for that, I absolutely LOVE musicals
Ja, defo dress warm, its alot more casual than it used to be. I agree Cols, you can never go wrong with a pair of black pants!

shame Charne, I don't know how you cope with a full day job too. I hope you start getting some rest soon.
And same to you PM - I've had the teething niggles during the day with J, poor things, I wish they didn't have to go through it. But wow, you are such a wonder woman caring for your 3 girls like you do. I hope the shut is over soon so you can have a break and get to spend some time with your man

Shame Girly, sorry that K is still unwell. Are you staying home with her or going to work? Such a dilemma that you have to be at the office to finish the training. I really hope she comes right soon and that you feel better soon too and get some rest.

Hello Ginah! good to hear from you again! How are things going and how is your little baba?

Kerry, John now has 4 teeth and as you saw on sunday is crawling backwards (don't think that qualifies yet though hey).
Aaargh I feel your pain about the bullying. Its not just about the money though, you would have to do all the cleaning up if you have it at your place. Its so tough with the grandparents sometimes. With John's baptism we had some of that, mostly from Si's mom, wanting to invite the whole world (extended family from all over) - but we put paid to that by deciding on the date only 2 weeks before it was due to happen and then just telling everyone what we wanted to do and if they wanted to help with bringing food it would be most welcome

Oh and in other news...

Over the weekend we went to the coffee shop at the local nursery ad they happened to be hosting this beautiful babyshower and we all immediately thought... wouldnt it be nice to have K's birthday party here....

So we asked the price and were astounded to hear they only want to charge R49 per head (for a full buffet)... which works out cheaper than having it at home with sandwich platters... So we all thought Yaaayyy we are gona do that

So last night DH is on the phone with his dad and he tells his dad to please not make plans for the 27th of august because we are having a party for K's birthday

Him and his dad get talking and his dad says well... he really would rather have a spit at our place, so dh explains its cheaper to go to the coffee shop... and his dad says no man don't be silly you do all the phoning, let me know what it costs and provided its reasonable ill pay.



so it looks like we might be bullied into that...

So finally i was getting an idea of who i might want o invite coz if we need to organise we need to start now and i was wondering if you gals here might like to come? I know your baba's all have birthdays in the same month and you might be busy, so i don't expect you to drop everything, but it might be nice if you come and let the baba's play?

Let me know how the formula goes tonight. I am planning on taking her off formula and moving her to cows milk in 2 months time, so don't really want to introduce another milk now.

She did actually sleep better last night, so will see how it goes tonight. Could be that I gave her panado - she was very niggly before bedtime and trying to put her fist into her mouth, so I gave her 3mls panado. I'm hoping she slept better just because and that she is going to do it again and that it has nothing to with the panado.

Uh oh... K was also going through that!

Last night my exclusively boobie baby had formula... novalac sweet dreams formula.... i was at the end of my tether with her waking up so often in the night... and i read about it somewhere so i thought... well it cant hurt to try... so she went to bed at 7:30, guzzled down 260mls and....

At half past three i woke up for a dummy run and then at half four she had her 5am (about) feed....

So very very much better.... i am trying it again tonight to see if it was a fluke or if the formula really did help, but by golly it was sooo good! I will keep you posted! Char... ummm flower girl... maybe its worth a try?

As for me, well somehow i got the sniffles... so i have a runny nose and a sore throat and a bark... so when i woke up this morning and the weather was miserable i thought that it would be better to take a benelin day.... DH took baba to MIL so its just me.... it feels sooo strange

It is awesome that you are going to the ballet. I love the ballet. Went tons as a kid. These days it really isnt as formal as it used to be. I mean, I loved it because I loved my mom being all dressed up. You can even wear jeans if you really want. I would wear black pants and a nice top under a seriously warm jacket. Take a pashmina or scarf with. It can be quite warm in the theatre. My sister and I had a tradition at the ballet, she would get pink and white candied almonds and I would get choux chouxs. It was our thing. Ah good times

Guess my post is not going to be so welcome then

I'm FINALLY getting some sleep

Willem has been sleeping better for the last 2-3 nights. put him down at 8 (or some nights only 9), wake up for a bit of rocking at 1am, and then through till 4-5am, when he wants his boobie, and then he gets in bed with us.

And I cheat with the 1am rock - I realised that he is just as happy if I rock the cot - as in take the wooden cot, lift the one side up and rock Lucky me I have a lightweight cot Some nights I'm back in bed before I'm fully awake.

Willem's 'teething symptoms' also seems to be less, eating better, sleeping better ect. Still no teeth though

This weather is horrible!! And of course JUST as I had to leave this morning the clouds opened up!! Lucky DH made it to work before the rain started (on bike).

We're going out tonight - in this cold - to the ballet. One of the suppliers at DH's work gave him tickets to see Romeo and Juliet. Looking forward to it, since it's my first time to a ballet.
However, apparently people like to dress up a bit, so no casual. And I don't HAVE anything warm that could be considered 'dressy'.
Ah well, I'll just blame it on the weather. I'm NOT freezing tonight.

Oh, and since we are coming back late, Willem is having his first ever sleepover tonight. Not sure who is looking forward to it more. MIL for having him sleep over, or me for the SLEEP!!

what is up with our baba's? Is NO-ONE getting any sleep!!?

It's crazy at my house at the moment - for the past 2-3 weeks, Emily has been awake for practically the entire night If I get 3 hours of sleep a night, I am lucky - and that is 3 VERY broken hours, like as in 15-30 mins at a time (if I am lucky)

I can't even feel tired anymore, that's how bad it is!!
