Oh Cols shame man I'm so sorry to hear John has turned the corner and is sleeping better now.

Are you giving Evan panado or neurofen or something along those lines too? I give John panado 3 times a day and maybe neurofen once a day if needed as well (normally in between 2 panado doses). Then from Saturday I started using the nosefrida aspirator to 'blow' his nose to try get some of the gunk out. I put nose drops in and then use it. I find it much better than any of the bulb-type aspirators.
I was also giving John FlusinC - 2.5ml 3 times a day. But I stopped yesterday because it has pseudoephedrine in it and I think it was making him feel nauseaus, he fought me so hectically whenever I gave it to him that it made me wonder if it was making him feel worse so I stopped.
And then at night after his bath I rub a little carvel/ vicks on his chest and his back and his shoulders and I squeeze a carvel tube/ inhalation cap over his sheet/ pillow area where his head will lie.
All this seems to be making him better, he is still sick but so much better than friday and he doesn't seem to have had a fever since Friday. And the night sleeping is much better.

I feel awful drugging my baby so much but the nurses/ docs/ paeds all assure me that it is fine.

Girly, sorry to hear you are so sick, what a hectic time for you, I hope the meds work fast and you feel better soon so you can put your mind to your work. Also hope Kaylee settles in nicely again with the day mom and recovers fast too

Ok gotto run, John is at my folks for a few hours and I have to finish this project otherwise they are going to take it away from me because I am so behind from looking after J last week

PS: Yes Si got his deposit back - it was a bank cheque - but it didn't clear until today so that is another thing I'm putting in my Hello Peter complaint!

What can I give him for this @#$% cold? He has Illiadin and other special drops but it's not doing ANYTHING

I need sleep. He has post nasal drip which is making him cough too Giving him prospan for the cough.

Finally i am feeling better... wow its a super flu this year huh? Anyhow i am back!

Joybaby - So glad to hear K is feeling better! and Hope you are too? So its your first day flying solo today... GOOD LUCK! you will do fine!

I use an earbud but only to clean the outer ear, i don't actually put it into her ear, i just find it easier to clean in the little folds of her ears

For K's we have a total of 38 adults and 6 kiddies we are inviting... how many actually come is a different story... as usual, we are still up in the air regarding just having the buffet at a local coffe shop (R49pp) or organising a spit at home.

But will price the spit and decorations and such!

Pinkmommy - Oh wow it never ends for you does it? I think its time for to almost be selfish and arrange some you time where DH has to fly solo so you get a break... it is only fair after all

Cols so glad its just a cold. Even so its a real pain though Is he at a creche / day mom?
Cols & everyone else, as a matter of interest how do you clean your baby's ears out? Ear buds? How far in do you go? I just use a facecloth and clean the entrance out, I'm scared of earbuds.

Sher so sorry about your friend's baba!!! Seems a little odd to me that they can run such hot water for a baby's bath? I'd also run cool first if I couldnt do both together. But rather scary what 5 seconds alone can do, we have to be so cautious with our little ones, they are so reliant on us.

Charnenay I see you landed up with a 3am wake up again? When K does this, if she refuses to sleep but is happy awake I just ma let her stay awake, sometimes it lasts 1,5hrs and if I've had a bad night till then then DH must wake up with her, otherwise I'll do so. But since I wake up for feeds etc I need his help when she's not acting in her normal routine.

Robyn how is it being back at work? How is it going with your new colleague, hope she isnt trying to override you at work?
I was thinking about you the other day, as I am currently in a temp position for a maternity contract. Hopefully I"m making an impression, and hoping to find a permanent position within the company by proving my skills - but by no means do I intend on taking over that position.

K'scold is much better now. No more fevers etc, but she's been very moany this afternoon and I have a feeling her chest is getting iffy again so just watching that too.
I went to doc on Friday, said I have Trachialitis apparently its kind of like baby croup except adults seem to get it really badly. I've never felt so sick before its been awful. Today I'm mostly just weak / drowsy and chest is still tight but not coughing nearly as much thankfully. I'm meant to go back to work tomorrow as its my first day solo now but I feel so drowsy its rather hard to concentrate. Think it must be the meds. I'm on antibiotics for 5 days, and cortisone, and pain killers for the swollen glands and fevers.
K is back at daymom from tomorrw, hopefully she'll get settled in again this week without any interruptions as every time we keep her home she struggles to go back again.
It's so sweet how the daymom sms's and phones to hear how she's doing.

How is the progress of your baby's 1st bday's coming along? What are you all doing? How many people are you inviting?
Our extended family/friend list makes it a total of 75 people!!!
Our reduced / limited list makes it 35. There's just no ways it could be less but I'd really love to invite moomie friends and other friends too but just dont think its proper to spend that much money.
And then we still have to find a venue...
The party packs / decor can be done more last minute.

Okay DH is asking when I'm gonna finish on the pc...
I gotta clean kitchen, heat up food etc etc and hopefully get an early night tonight

On the plus side it seems K is sleeping much better at night, generally only waking up around 10/11pm and then once more in the night.

Tomorrow she is 10months old and I really am enjoying her personality and age now.
She points to my nose / mouth when asked, also the strawberry & banana on her walking ring, she plays games with us and she listens to 'come here' and 'no' etc. No clapping yet but is learning to put her hands togher so not long. Also discovered her tongue, and pushes it in and out and around her mouth.

Anyway must run.
Really hope its a good week for everyone, me included. Rather exhausted and drained and a big month ahead being alone at work now.
Looking forward to semi long weekend in GBay at least

Iz is better, thank goodness. She is soo cute. Actually stunned us yesterday, I was teaching her to say Abby, but then realised that it would be too difficult to say Grace so I stopped, then just being silly we said to her call Gracie....then out of the blue she started shouting "Gagga"!!!!!!!!! It is just to cute the way she calls her, and then when Grace appears, the joy on her face shouting "Gagga". Needless to say Abby is not happy . But I'll teach Iz tomorrow to say Abby, cause she started to say it when I stopped, so she should catch on to it quickly. She now has 6 words in her vocab (mamma, pappa, ouma, oupa, bye, gagga). She is touching on saying 'hallo' and 'woef'. When you say call something or someone she clicks her tongue as if she's calling the dogs. Hehehehe.

The shut is over, but now it is 'Pinkster week' at church...... Not sure I want to open that can of worms. 1 word.....GATVOL......

Abby is dancing exam on thursday, so it's going to be a week of dance hell, but then it's over, till next time.

Somedays I miss being pregnant. We've been talking in the week bout the idea of having another baby. Right now this is a big NO for me. I am running my butt of after 3 kids, half the time flying solo.

Girly, I miss you my friend. Hope you and K are doing much better.

Also goodluck car hunting! So terrible what investment cars did to you i would be LIVID. I really hope they at least had the decency to give you your deposit back?

With the cackes i have a friend who can do that kind of thing. I just go on the Net and find a picture of something i like and give it to her and she works her magic. I also pay her by taking her to the local cake supply shop... LOL

Anyhow point is she is reasonable and loves to bake! Let me know if you are interested and i will PM you her number and you can get a cake made up from her... let me see if i can find some pics of her work for you and post them

Oh and last Charnenay i don't think it was the formula helping her sleep, as last night i gave her breastmilk and she slept though regardless, but i think i would still recoomend you buy a small tin of it and give it a try? it was only R68 at babycity

Oh my word I spoke too soon (seems to be happening alot to me lately)- the last 2 nights have been hellish with Johnny crying and not sleeping - he has a head cold and has been very unhappy and I feel like a basketcase today. I think he is better though and has broken the back of it, either that or its the meds making him feel better. Poor little guy, the way they look at you when they cry in pain makes me feel so heartsore.

I haven't been able to do a stitch of work for 2 days.

Cols, shame that Evan is sick too but great that it is not an infection! Yay for grommets I wanted to reply to your 'pity party' post the other day but I couldn't get into moomies. So just to say that I felt for you at the time

Charne I think I'm also going to put J on cows milk from a year. Well we will test it and see - I'm not sure if the problem he has with full cream yogurt will carry through with full cream milk or not. Can't believe our babies are almost a year old! Does anyone even remember being pregnant?

Sher that is so sad, I can't imagine what the mother is going through. I think I would never be the same. Ja girls, we can never be too careful or complacent. I never really thought about the toilet thing before but will make sure they are always closed now. Ah man, so very sad

We "lost" the most awesome bakkie yesterday - Simon found it and testdrove it on Monday and put in an offer to purchase. He paid the deposit yesterday and we arranged to fetch it at 5pm then at 3pm he got an email saying that another person had signed an offer to purchase on Monday too and they had paid for the car in full via eft on wednesday so this guy got the car instead. This is at Investment Cars ladies - can you believe it? I thought they had a better reputation than that. We are so angry we could spit. Now the search is on again but I am carless so its really stressful, especially with a sick baby.
