BabyK - yikes, really glad John wasnt in the car!! Hope the insurance fix the car.
hehe for the pram in the getz. I used to have a Getz (LOVED it), and some $%@# with a hugh bullbar decided to re-decorate my boot. Insurance scraped it...
Now I drive an Hyundai I10 - with a boot half the size of the getz... You should see me fit my pram in

Cols, the last few time we drove past Veldskoen the 'forthcoming attractions' weren't on the board - I actually wondered if they were still open. We've been talking about going, just never got around to it.
The last time I went to a drive in was the one at Hillfox (must have been about 6-7 years ago, they've closed since), and before that I think I was still in primary school!!!!

Sher, hobbies... back when I used to have LOADS of time I did a bit of fabric painting. More recently I decided to do a bit of sowing - soft toys. Well, the paint is dried out long time ago, and my kitchen table has been covered in material for the last few weeks and I just don't get round to it.
Who knew looking after a baby is such hard work.

My boy is 9 months old today!!!!!

Was going to take him for his vacs tommorrow, but with him still feeling a bit off, and still coughing, I've decided to wait a week at least.

I'm still lazy with the food. Willem still gets mostly purees. Luckily he doesn't mind being fed for now . He LOVES biscuits though, so no problem with feeding himself when he gets the chance.

I've downloaded a LOT of annabel Karmel's recipes, and will try at least one this weekend.
I've formatted nicely in word, if anybody else wants it too?

They also have nice fish ones (something I don't like, and thus can't cook) that I want to try. But they mostly have salmon, and MIL suggested I rather use hake (easier to get and cheaper). Any idea if the flavours are at elast similar enough that the recipe won't flop completely?
(did I mention I REALLY don't like fish)

BabyK, that is such sucky timing I'm glad you're ok and John wasnt in the car. It really is shocking how badly people drive!

I hope everything works out. I got taken out by a woman jumping a stop street. The damage to my car was almost the full value of my car and the insurance repaired it. Just be ruthless with the panel beaters, check everything. If things stop working make them fix it. Take it to the AA to check they have fixed everything. I had to do that, they didnt fix half the things they were meant to. It would have cost me an extra R10k to fix it myself.

Kerry, we're going to Velskoen drive in on Malibongwe Drive. I think there is one in Menlyn as well. I am not sure if there are any others around.

Sher - Hmm i also seem to have found that all my hobbies went out the window, but i am slowly finding time for them again... been making crochet baby hats lately... they are so sweet! I am working on a blue and white striped one at the moment, then i am keen to figure out something for the baby boys. but yes... there are things i have had to give up on more or less indefinatey, hubby and i used to go scuba diving, but thats not gonna happen again, at least not till i am done breast feeding... and then its pretty much gonna be time for number 2 anyhow also managed to squeese in beading a necklace for my niece.

Pink - Shame man theres nothing worse than when they are sick, you just want to do something to help them and there is nothing! Though i might add with ear infections perhaps try keep a beanie on over the ears, especially if outside as the wind can make the ears feel 10 times worse!

John often tugs on his ear but I check his temp and everything else seems fine so I put it down to teething. Apparently they pull their ears when they teethe cos they think the teeth are there. At least I really hope its just teething.

Hmm Cols, the drive-in sounds like a fab idea. I must chat to DH and we really must do that sometime. We also used to go to movies alot. Now we just sit like potatoes and watch series and dvds all the time or are on our laptops. Really romantic hey?

Also don't have any hobbies or doing any exercise since J was born. I tried to go back to gym and went a couple of time (actually went to yoga every week for ages, which was awesome) and John joined the V-max kids club and played with the caregivers. But he was sick a few months ago so we didn't go for ages and then we went away and then DH changed jobs and we changed medical aids so I lost my vitality gym membership. So I've taken John for a walk twice around the neighbourhood! Been meaning to do it more

Hobbies, well I always loved reading and I still manage to fit in quite a bit, especially since John is a bit older and I am over the need to read every baby magazine/ bit of information out there. Now I am reading for fun again. I've done mosaicing once and really enjoyed it - I made a tray. Always wanted to do that again too but never got around to it

We take John out quite a bit - we have been to friends for dinner a couple of times and to my parents and he has been absolutely fine. As long as he gets his dinner, bath and bottle, he falls alseep anywhere (well hopefully on someone's bed). We have not gone out to restaurants much at all though, am keen to start doing a few Spur trips or something. I used to love going out to dinner.

I had a car accident on Tuesday Thank GOD John was not with me. I was turning right - the arrow was green for me to turn and a car went through the robots on the other side, straight into my left hand side. The car is stuffed. Its gone to the panel beaters today. Its really old so we are praying that the insurance agrees to fix it and doesn't right it off. Its such bad timing (well its never good timing I suppose) because DH is buying a new car (2nd hand) and wants to get it next week and he is trading in his car. So he might not trade in his car as I might have to use it. But we can't say until we know if my car is going to be scrapped or not.
So at least I have car hire on my insurance so I have a little red getz, its very cute and nippy, I quite like it. But the pram doesn't fit in the boot, although for 2 weeks I can make a plan.

Anyways, better run, Mister has been amazing and slept very well today but will be up soon so need to prepare...

PM, strength to you hun! Just keep an eye on her, if she seems worse go back but like I said, it sounds like they have the bases covered... Give her some pain meds to take the edge off. It really helps. I am like you with hobbies. I think they're great ideas but I dont go any further. I have learnt I seldom actually finish them so I have given up
