PM, what antibiotics is Iz on? It sounds like they are giving her everything they can to clear the infection. The cortizone is to help reduce the swelling in the ear. Basically they try with the nose drops / spray to help get the gunk behind the ear drums to drain through the nose. That is what is causing the pain. Evan takes about 2 weeks to clear up. 1 week on antibiotics and 1 week after. If she still has congestion keep on giving nose spray after the antibiotics are over as long as it is something the Dr is happy with prolonged use eg. Flixonaze (can be used twice daily for 2 weeks) / Nazonex (Dr said I can use once daily up to 1 month) (SP). Illiadin can only be used for 5 days because thereafter it causes a resistance.

The ENT also told me to give Evan Nuerofen paed 6 hourly with his ear infection. You can imagine how sore they must be. What I would do is give him pain meds when he was niggly - early morning and bed time especially. I continued doing that until yesterday. It was the 1st day without painful crying and ear tugging.

He is only now starting to feel a bit better from his ear infection and it was 2 weeks yesterday that it was diagnosed.

Also, he was not eating well at all. I think that makes them even more miserable. I actually gave him whatever I could get him to eat. So for a while he was living on toast, flings, yoghurt mixed with fruit and rice cakes...

I dont know how severe Iz's infection is though so I think just watch your baby girl. If you pull her ear and look inside does it still look reddish? Evan's ear canal was very red but it's now looking more normal colour - 2 weeks later. If she starts spiking temperatures or gets more miserable I would take her back to the paed.

Evan hasnt had his 9month injections yet. The nurse said he has to be well for 1 week before they will do his jabs. So probably next week friday.

Sorry for the essay... I hope it helps?

Hobbies.....does having 3 kids count????????

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I am kind of a 10 second Tom.....I will get a crazy idea in my head and if the project isn't finished in 3 days it gets chucked!

Short attention span.....or let's just say I only have 3 days allocated to each project.....thereafter it gets filed in the computer room for future projects' spare parts!

Me and my best friend decided at age 27 to start doing Ballet....ja you read right! We had a deprived childhood, and always wanted to do ballet. We got a private tuitor, tights and leotards and off we went. Sadly we both fell pregnant. However as soon as we lost the correct amount of weight we wil resume our ballet. As none of us want to be known as the Hippo's in tights!

Right now I'm am doing some Zumba. Kinda growing on me.

I also had a photography phase :woohoo: sadly there's lotsa phases! Did some weddings, functions just for fun.

Then there was the gel nails phase....bought all the stuff and tought myself to do nails.....

Scrapbooking and cardmaking was also thrown in along the lines.

Luckily for my DH these 'phases' have died down some now...having 3 kids being a ballet, hockey and baby mom is just way too hectic to sit and think about my next phase!

I stopped gyming, will be 17 months. since i was pregnant, i had some complications and one of them was initial bleeding, so i decided not worth it... i tried to to back when i got back to work, went 3 times and missed my little K so much, i cant bring myself to go back.... there is just not enough time in the day. most i miss her.

i used to be very active in school, played every sport under the sun, even guys sports, basket ball, athletic, entered for my Natal colors. I did martial arts till about 24 I think. got my black belt... did some Judo....

now absolutlely NOTHING - ha ha.... my baby comes first.

i just or used to love being active. now we do baby sport ;)

Cols, you've been through the ears thing and got the t-shirt! HELP

I took Iz for her injections, but the nurse said to come back once Iz is off the atibiotics. So I asked her to check her ears cause my baby still seems very niggly.

The nurse said her ears are still very red. Iz has been on meds now for 4 days. Antibiotics, cortizone eardrops, Demazyne syrup and nasal spray. How long did Evan's usually take to clear?

Anything else I can do to make things better for Iz?
