hi ladies,

sorry havent been on a while. been hectic at work and home. I am now sick, but really sick. DH said he's never seen me like this before. I'm just broken

PM - I am thinking of you all today. I can only imagine how hard this is hitting you all. Especially at the time when there would have been such amazing happiness... BIG HUGS! LOL about Iz's walking ring! Evan is the same, blimmin speedy gonzales! loves to chasing me and grabbing everything. Yay on the leopard crawl! That's the way Evan's not there yet.

Sher, I want to try squeeze in some time this weekend. Heavens knows when. Evan's Christening is 2 days after his 1st b-day so it will be a combined thing. I was only planning on doing a family lunch / tea because I think they dont really understand. My niece definitely enjoyed her 2nd b-day more and it was much more fun and relaxed. Your LO sounds so advanced! She is growing so well.

On solids etc, Evan doesnt want soft food. I gave him 2 pealed fish fingers, rice and peas the other night. It was a glorious mess but he loved it. I just need some suggestions on some healthy, easy to handle finger snacks for when we are out and about. Things he can feed himself. We are always on the go. I give him yoghurt, purity fruit, rice cakes and flings. Obviously yoghurt and fruit I have to feed him. He doesnt like the fresh food mesh. I read you can give them dry Oaties as a snack, do any of you do that?

I have been trying to keep my spending within a limit for Evan, needless to say I am not succeeding. I need to cut and dye my hair. I have serious regrowth. I dye my hair dark so it's becoming obvious. Its so bad I actually went and bought dye to do it myself. That was over a month ago an it is still sitting on my shelf in the bathroom...

So have we decided a date for the get together? Do you guys want to have a potjie or something if the guys are coming with?

yeah def no oils, sugar and salt. so will see when she gets to 8 mnths, she had the chewing motion at 2 mnths. will do it anyway and when she started solids. she just chews, there is nothing to chew,they all pureed but she will chew. i think she will do well.

lets see when we get to that month

i start fruit tomorrow, great cause i love fruit, and its a waste for me to finish all bymyself, DH is not a fan, certain things appeal to him. so now K and I can eat. starting banana tomorrow.

yoghurt too i need to start. there is too many things for them to eat

We are having a 1 year birthday bash for the family in our garden... the god mom is making a rubber duck cake (she makes awesome cakes) but thats about as far as i have gotten. i should definately get my but in gear though coz it isn't so far away anymore

I don't see why you have to wait a year, i mean really its about what your baby is ready to eat. By 8 months she will be eating your meal, just mashed or puree'd and without salt, so if you are ready to change your food to be salt free you can start making that saving much much sooner.

If i make mac & cheese / Spagetti bolognaise/ pretty much anything i cook an extra serving put it aside and mash or puree it for her meals over the next few days...

Believe me it helps... unfortunately hubby and i arent huge fruit eaters so her lunch i must confess has to be specifically bought for her, but fruit doesn't cost too much.

thats cool Kerry. I guess we will save alot when the babies start eating proper adult food. i have to wait a year according to paed. so september it is.

I will give her more textured foods from 8mnths, make pureed but just a little lumpier. then will give some peices of chicken in tiny bits on her tray... hope that goes well.

today is friday the 13th... people can be really superstitious..

any of you having 1 year parties, if so where ? i just feel they dont know anything yet. a nice one at 2 years but maybe something small for 1 year, so the adult can socialise - ha ha

Thanks for reminding me i keep forgetting to make a hairdresser appointment.

I must say i am blessed... see my grandmother and my mom always used to go to the hairdresser together and grandmom would pay so now i think my mom is paying it forward... i always have to make us an appointment... we go together... she pays Happiness it! So were going on the 21st at 10am

I was thinking about trying the cloth nappy thing, but... MIL looks after K during the day and after being shown at least three time how to put on a disposable nappy she still managed to put it on backwards the first time... so i am thinking that may just end badly... what we have going works... for the most part

and today being friday mom and dad fetch K from MIL so i don't have to go through that today it makes my friday... and then we go to MIMO's for supper.


Also... being friday i guess i may as well chat...

Did i tell you K had a half a fish finger, and some butternut and sweet potato cubes on wednesday night... oh she loved it... feeding herself was such a hit... and then she came to my plate and ate half my veggies too...

So then on thursday (Last night) i made spagetti bolognaise... but knowing she would rather eat that then her puree'd food i used small pasta shells instead of spagetti... and again she loved it...

She just loves chewable food...

Tonight if we go to the restaurant i guess i will order her some plain pasta and just use her puree as a sauce on the pasta.

Sher I know - I haven't had my hair done since before John was born - that's almost 9 months now! I feel like an amish woman, long thick hair with no style whatsoever. And I'm dying for some highlights! ('scuse the pun). I just haven't had the extra money to spend on myself, its like you say, everything has been John John John.

Oh wow, R109 for premiums is very good. Toys r us had them at a good deal for a while too but that's over now. I haven't been to Dischem in ages so don't know if that special is still on.

There were some awesome cloth nappies at the expo - I don't know how much they were but they were like pull ups and you put an inner inside. You wash them and the inners in the machine. So much better for the environment and of course all the money saved over the long run.
