I belong to the sep 2010 thread, but there is no one to chat to there

is it okay to be on here ? i know my baby was born end of september and your LO are prob way more in advance than Kiara...

still nice to see what they older babies are doing

Janine - Oh too familiar... and our little darling screams if you flip her back on to her back... si i gave in now and just let her stand... so very much easier. and Quieter!

Charnenay... sorry i am not sure what little K weighs... she just went through a massive growth spurt over the weekend and i have been meaning to weigh her but just havent yet... but i am pretty sure its about what Emily weighs... but seriously don't sweat what other people say... i have come to realise that you can't raise a child without the whole village knowing better and judging you... just let it be! I know it hurts but thats just the way it is. I have my MIL secong guessing every choice i make... it really sucks...

anyways onwards

Kaelyns meal schedule (its flexible but something like this)

Breastfeed at 5am before leaving for work (I think 250mls... not sure)
breakfast cereal at 7:30 - about 100mls milk and cereal to thicken
Bottle at 10am - 250mls (usually finishes it)
Lunch at 1pm - about 100 - 120mls puree'd fruit sometimes with yoghurt
Bottle at 3pm - 200mls but starting to drop this one off... so could make it smaller but sometimes she finishes it
Dinner at 6pm - use lumpier foods, meat + veggy, mac and cheese sometimes... just mashed. about 150mls
and then her last feed before bed... bottle for hubby to give... its a 250ml bottle but lately with dropping the 3pm amount she's upping this one and wanting boob after the 250mls. Not much though i don't think

and then we have been doing a 2am dummy run for monthls and this week seem to have started an 11pm dummy run too... but its all good just pop it in and shes off to sleepyland.

and thats our schedule... some mornings brekkie is only at 8, a few afternoons she has only had the 3pm bottle at 4pm.... and then others she has only had 40mls or so... but thats small change i recon

Willem was 3.89kg at birth, and on my baby scale he was around 8.1 - 8.2kg yesterday (he bounces on the scale, so can't get 100% accurate )

He is going for his 9 month injections on 21 May.

Um, Willem still gets more that 500ml a day - I leave between 400ml and 450ml for him with MIL, and then he still drinks from me twice!

Also still need to get around to giving him protein... Been too lazy to cook, and still have plnety veggies in the freezer

Quick question - what yogurt do you give your LO's?
I've heard that they are supposed to get full cream? But Pick&Pay doesn't have any except the plain!
MIL started giving him the low fat strawberry ones, so if I move to plain now, I might get a food strike

Our news: Willem’s 2nd Toothie is out!! Came out over the weekend.
Think that either that one is still bothering him, or more could be on the way. The last few days he has been miserable, crying a lot, off his veggies – but LOVES cold stuff.
He went completely off his dummy the last 2 days – I had to let him suck on me for an HOUR to get him to sleep 2 nights ago...
And then it also doesn't help that his 2nd dummy (one for us, one for MIL) fell out of the car (unnoticed), and the @$%#$ mutt (read: my dear SIL's absolutely LOVELY dog, that I just ADORE (And kick whenever she comes too close to me)) got hold of it, and chewed it.
Generally I love dogs - but this mutt chews EVERYTHING, and she climbs up our stairs and terrorizes my cat! (and we live on the first floor...) And then even worse, she follows you around and nips at your heels when you walk or climb the stairs!!

Willem has now discovered how to crawl properly on his hands and knees. And he still stands against EVERYTHING. He can reach to top of MIL’s sowing table, and loves pulling her material down onto the floor .
He is also starting moving sideways along the furniture, but apparently only in one direction for now.
He walks all around MIL’s table, and when he can’t go any further, she has to move him back to the other side

Then we had some drama over the weekend. My parents were visiting friends for a few days and she misjudged the staircase. Thought she was on the bottom step, and stepped two steps in one. Slipped, and sat down on top of her ankle!!! Ended up in the hospital with a really bad break and they had to operate to put in steel plates and pins to keep it together.
She was released yesterday, but is not allowed to put any weight on her foot for at least 6 weeks now.

long time i have not been able to log in. glad everyone is doing okay.

my daugther turned 9 months on the 28th. i took her for the vaccine on saturday. she was given measles and because there is an out break of chicken pox in my extented family, the nurse decided to give her one and said she will have the prevenar at 12 months.

i take her to this chemist in Bromhof because they charge govenment rates but this time i was charged almost R400 and said the government does not provide for that (confused though)

my LO weigthed 3.44kg at birth and is now 10.7kg

Girly - Really LOVE the hair - it looks great!

We were also at Delta park! We went on the Wednesday .

Kerry, I hear you on the walking/crawling. I dispair having to change his nappy nowadays - although I haven't tried the standing up one yet
DH have to help me, to keep him distracted, and then it still takes about 4 times longer than before...
Put nappy ready, put cream on, pull nappy out of his hands, straighten nappy. Flip baba back on his back, straighten nappy. Get one side on , flip baba back again, straighten nappy, redo side that has now shifted, get cream off his hands..... sounds familiar?

Kerry, that's really funny about the nappy changing - my sister does that with her 18 month as well as he also refuses to lay quietly. As for the sleeping, it is getting better but I don't want to jinx it. She is still not sleeping right through, but she only wakes up twice most nights - at about 2:30AM and then it's about 15 - 20 minutes to get her back to sleep and then she wakes up between 5 and 6 again and Dh puts her in bed with me and gets done for work then, but at least she is staying in her bed for most of the night now. fingers crossed that it gets better and not worse.

Anyone had the 9 month vacs yet? We went yesterday Just wanted to get it over and done with. My poor baby was sooooo upset not cool at all!! She got measles and prevenar vaccine. At 12 months, we will do Chicken pox and 1 other (can't remember now). The prevenar apparently burns really bad, so she was not at all impressed with that one. I was a little less than impressed with the nurse though - went to panorama breastfeeding clinic and they are usually LOVELY there. Anyway, I am very anti-sweets or chips or any other junk treats for babies, so Emily does not get any, not even flings or juice. She did get a tiny easter egg on easter and I allow her to have some flings at parties, but I believe that treats are treats and should not be given regularly as snacks. Anyway, so I took 1 of my white easter eggs with me yesterday (you know the one that looks like a real egg, candy coated white with hollow chocolate underneath). I took it with because I knew that she was going to scream, so wanted to give it to her just to calm her down. So we do the whole injection business, Emily screams blue murder and I give her to my mom while I pay and tell my mom to give the egg to her. She is obviously not used to this, so she is immediately quiet and enjoying the egg - her whole face is white. So, the siter that helped me comes out and says: "I am looking at her weight gain and it's not great, tell me a bit about her diet" and 1 of the other nurses who are standing there says in a very arrogant tone: "Well, just take a look at what she's eating, sweets are obviously her diet!!" I was soooo p'd off!!!!!

But, getting over that, it appears that Emily is not eating enough I was told to cut out 2 of her bottles!!!!! She should apparently not be drinking more than 500mls of milk over a 24 hour period She is currently getting 750ml's. And, she should be getting protein for lunch and supper. So, we are now changing her diet completely.

I would like to compare - can you please let me know what your LO's weighed at birth and what they are weighing now. Emily weighed 3.16KG's at birth and she is now weighing 8.35KG's I really thought she was weighing more than that already
