Flowergirl... yesterday i read your post and i symapthised... believe me i did... but apparently not enough... Kaelyn did the same to me last night... twice! Flip i offered her her bottle and she threw it at me... gave her her dummy and the same... kept pointing at her bedside table (which only keeps the dummy and bottle... but everytime i offered her somethingfrom it she just cried harder and threw it further.

eventually i just lay down and slept in the bed with her... not that she really slept, but its better than nothing

Jeanine - I was looking at the events and exhibitions section So seems, they are in CPT!

Wow - what a hectic night with Em She woke up just ebfore 2Am and would NOT go back to sleep. She just wanted me to hold her and eventually at 4:45AM, I took her to my mom so that I could get some sleep! She cried a bit, but literally for less than 5 minutes and then she was fast asleep!! Woke up at 8:30AM this morning in a chipper mood!!

Ladies, 1 of you got a ride on as a baby shower gift from work - one of the ladies with a boy. I think it was BabyK'smom??? Could you please post a pic of the ride on. I really like that one and saw it at our Toys r us and now I am trying to explain to my friend which one I am referring to because she is looking for gift ideas for her 1 year old son.

Regarding the quadro, did you phone them? - I actually thought they were only in the cape?!?!
We actually had to get ours through their joburg partner, treasure kids...

And if you REALLY have to courier it - the box actually fit in the back of my car - so not huge at all (did weigh 16kg though)

JB - I know most companies have a clause in their contracts that stipulates that you need to work for the company for a certain period first before they will pay maternity benefits. But perhaps UIF would cover you if you were permanently employed by then?? But legally, they have to give you at least 3 months leave without pay (that is the minimum legal requirement).

I am so sad today have class tonight directly after work and by the time I get home, Em will be sleeping I spent some time with her this morning reading stories and playing dollhouse (her favourite past time!) So I only left home at 10AM, and she kept saying: "mommy, come now-now" Sooooo sad

My manager gets my assessment results tomorrow afternoon - very nervous

WRT that quadro systems, it seems they are only available in JHB?? I think shipping costs would probably be horrendous, but will call next week to find out.

Oh, and lastly - not sure how the heck this has happened, but I seem to be losing weight! My pants which were super tight on me the last time I wore them (probably about 4-6 weeks ago) are all of a sudden loose - very loose!!! I have not been dieting or exercising, so maybe just some stress with the studies?? I am not complaining at all though!!

Flowergirl - looks like you had a blast on holiday! Em's hair is super cute! I could onlt wish K had such pretty hair! I wouldn't cut it yet either!

Joybaby - i forgot to add testing day is friday but i think i will wait till saturday morning just for extra safety

I would be super excited for your scan but don't stress at this age in the pregnancy i am sure you would know if something was awry... don't stress! You are past the high risk portion anyways!

And with the nightmares, Kaelyn also had a few a while back but they seemed more like night terrors... what helped us was leaving the light on in her room for a week and... hmm cant remember just the light seemed to make all the difference.

good luck... i must be honest if K keeps me awake that long at night i suffer at work the next day... i don't know how you manage to go on...

I forgot to add the most important part!!!

Kaylee has started getting really bad nightmares. Happened twice since Saturday.
She wakes up screaming. She's definitely awake so I dont think its a night terror. But she is inconsolable. She cries for me and 'daddy' but doesnt calm with either of us. Then she'll calm for a few minutes and suddenly start crying again. She seems extremely traumatised and we cant calm her down!
We switch the light on, try give her a bottle, and her doll and try and distract her and get her properly awake.
Eventually (30 mins later) she'll calm down and start to fall asleep in our arms or on our bed again but the minute one of us gets up (to lock the house or get more milk or get into pj's) she will wake up frantic again!
Last night it happened at 10:30pm, then she was finally asleep again by 12:30. She niggled and moaned a lot in the night, and woke again at 5:45 quite miserable.
She was quite happy before bed time, although she did have that fall at the daymom but that wouldn't explain Saturday night's drama.

I'm going to repost this in the general forum to get opinions, but have any of you been through this yet? I know nightmares are a 'normal' occurrence but its really overwhelming when you cant console your child and she is too young to tell us whats wrong.
