Hey ladies.

Welcome back Blessed!!!! :)

Girly, K has grown so much since the last photo I saw of her!!! too cute :)

Love the hello kitty outfit Kerry.

Girly, re: photoshoot - I went to Annelie (the lady who took the photo's at Panorama hospital. She showed me her portfolio and her pics are really good and she is VERY reasonable compared to the other quotes we got!!!! Only cost me R450 for half an hour shoot. Will see how those turn out and if good, then I will book with her again for an hour shoot when Emily is a bit bigger - she showed us a few pics before we left and I am really excited - they looked really cute. As for ideas, she had a picnic basket type thing that she put Emily in and I LOVE the way that pic turned out. Also had dh lay down and hide behind 2 ottomans while he held her up above it and it made her look as if she was staying up all by herself :) When is your shoot and who did you book with?

CPT get together - Girly, you are right. Probably better at someones house for diaper changers, crying, niggly babies, etc. We can have it at my place - it's a bit tiny, but I'm sure we'll be ok. Very easy to get here from the N7 or N1 - I am a 5 minute drive from Panorama hospital. Anyone interested, let me know and we can set a date.

Hallo ladies..

I feel like a new comer to this thread :)

Sorry for being MIA!!! It’s been 2 months now!!! I really missed all you ladies! Hope you all are doing great and enjoying your LO’s!!!

Sjo, where do I start???

To those I did not congratulate yet, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

Armand is 9 weeks tomorrow! Can not believe how quickly time is going past!! It feels like yesterday when I still had my BIG belly!! He is such an angel! Went for his 6 wk check-up and all is perfect! PRAISE GOD! He also went for his injection last week! He was so good! Did not cry a lot, but later that afternoon he cried a bit and I gave him panado and after that, no more problems!! He weighs 5.7kg and is 57cm! He has grown so much!! I enjoy every moment of being a mommy!!
I also got mastitis 2 weeks ago. It was horrible!!! I never had such pain in my life!! Thanks to good friends like Girly and Mommy2Monster who gave me advise!! Went to the gynea the third day and she admitted me to hospital. She said she never seen such bad mastitis! Stayed for one night and had to go for 4 days for a drip to get antibiotics. After that, my milk is less. I’m not breastfeeding, I’m expressing because Armand does not want to latch! She says the expressing does not get all the milk out and that is why I got it. Still expressing and praying I don’t get it again!!
Armand also has a very little reflux. So because my milk is not enough due to mastitis, I have to give him NAN AR with breast milk.

Enough about me, how is all your ladies doing??????? What did I miss?

Charmenay - Yes, but what hurt more was not knowing... once i knew she was hurting i could tell her its x long till she gets her meds... and try sooth her but before... she was screaming and screaming and nothing helped! Turns out shes also battling to digest the lactose in her milk... so dr has given me drops with lactaze enyme which has turned her back into a little angel again! :-)

Girly - so sorry to hear i wish there was something to do that could help... i know its expensive but it helped with Kaelyn... she is an angel now... go to the baby shop - or dischen and get Colief drops... ite the best R160 i ever spent... i just pop 4 drops in her mouth before every feed and viola she's 100% better... the milk goes down, no cramps after... sweet sweet heaven!

JanineK - I got the madela mini electric and it has a lille wheel to turn up or down the pressure... does your pump not maybe have the same and you can turn it down? I use mine on full and it doesn't hurt at all.. but i also read that it helps to express a little by hand then wet the nipple with the milk before you put the pump on

Well as for me i think i am overslept.... last night Kaelyn had her bath as 8 and fed and settled right after... and then proceeded to sleep all the way to 3am... i fed her literally for 5 minutes and she was fast asleep again... burped her in her sleep and put her in her crib... She woke ahain at 6 and i fed her and hubby took her to the lounge with him... i went back to bed and slept again till 9.... Kaelyns asleep now and i truly can not... i tried!
:-) not that i am complaining huh?

Also Shes 6 weeks only next thursday... and i have her clinic appointment on the 12th for her vaccinations. Not too sure i am looking forward to it after reading all your experiences, but we will be fine

Hi girls

Last night we had our first night out with friends. Went quite well, she was well behaved. (As always around people)
My friend who has a 20month old boy put her to sleep and really seemed to enjoy it, made them broody! But seriously I cannot imagine a 18month-2yr gap between children - they are so very active and attention needing at that age!

Jeanine its like I'm reading my own vaccination story. K was also fairly calm for a few hours after, and then cried so badly for about 4 hours, only ponado worked. This was Thursday. Yesterday she had a fever in the morning, and seemed to have one again last night. And between that she was very lathargic, so if yours is anything like mine, Willem will do lots of sleeping today. Apparently can be like this for 24-48hrs. Just watch his temperature. Anything above 38 after vacs is not normal. And can give 0.5ml ponado every 4-6 hrs when required.

BabyKsmom those are such cute photos! Wish there were more cute newborn clothes out there. The cute stuff only seems to start properly from 3 months on.
Love the little toes!

Re naps during the day - not a chance. She sleeps best on her tummy during the day which means either on me or in her moses basket, but I wont sleep if she's on her tummy in the basket as I need to keep an eye on her for possible suffocation. Also the last week or so she's had growth spurt which means regular feeding, and lots of cramps, so she will sleep for 30mins at a time if I'm lucky. No time for me to sleep there. Must say, I am feeling rather exhausted after this '6-8week' growth spurt. Evening feeds of 3 hourly are not fun.
Last night we had one long stretch of 5hrs between 2 feeds, thereafter 3hrs, and since 7am its 2hourly it seems. Today is approx day 7 of her hectic feeding, so I'm really hoping we can see the end to this soon and get back to our routine.

Anyway, if she has another 2hr stretch it means she'll be hungry in 20minutes again, so I better hop in the shower before she wakes up!

Hi Ladies

Well, I tried expressing some milk for Willem - got an electric pump - but WOW did it hurt!!!
Could only stand it for a few seconds at a time. Needless to say, didn't get much out, and haven't tried again yet.
Tried expressing by hand today, and very slow, but not painfull, so better for now (Not sure what to do when I go back to work though :S )

DH gave him the little I expressed from a bottle (NUK teat), and he drank it down, no problems.

Took him for his 6 week injections today (Goverment, but at pharmacy clinic - so R40 'consulting' fee - and almost no ques ;) )
He cried so much right after - but was quite by the time I left the pharmacy
Was fine first few hours afterwards, then started crying inconsolably, and would only quite down and sleep if I held him tight - couldn't even shift my arm :(
Gave him some panado, and he's been much better since then (8 hours later), so hope he will have a good night.
