Hi Ladies

Sorry I've been so MIA - was very spoiled with internet at work, now I have to get out with only 80mb a month...

Willem is starting to sleep better at night - still no routine, since I've decided to do demand feeding (which ends up roughly every 3 hrs in any case ;) ) - and he managed a 4.5 - 5 hr sleep 2 nights in a row now :woohoo:

Whenever he doesn't want to nap during the day, or I need a break, I just take him for a visit with MIL next door - she just loves rocking him to sleep - and then I get to relax as well.

Still breast feeding, want to attempt to express a feed now and again, so I can leave him for longer with MIL, or DH can take one feed a day - have some NUK teats to try...
Just not sure when to express as to not starve poor Willem at his next feed :S - also how much would be a full feed?

Had a hectic weekend - 3 birthdays!! Lets just say that I might have had a bit too much sweets and cake - poor Willem has had cramps ever since - so no more sweets for me from now on.

As for the deed - kinda told DH we HAVE to wait for 6 weeks check-up  - He is also counting the days...

Those planes are really loud especially where I am which is close to the base. Poor kid is almost used to it but gets a fright every now and again.

Charnenay -I'm going to get the swing just now, hopefully they have what I want and more importantly that Peyton likes it. I had a hard difficult day with her today. Refuses to sleep no matter what I did, darkened room, white noise, etc. And when she did it was for only 20min in my arms, gets up everytime I put her down. Becomes very frustrating as I couldn't do anything today.
You are really lucky to have such a good routine with Emily.

Girly, when I do give her a bottle, I use NUK. Going to get the honey dummy today as well.

JudesMom - I've had the tumble dryer and the fan heater on all day because of the cold, but mostly because that way, Emily can nap and not be disturbed by the noise from the planes. So, put on something noisy in the house so that she can fall asleep to a constant noise and not hear the planes so much - hope it helps :) Emily also started sleeping longer once I put her on her stomach with the angel care monitor on for mom's peace of mind. As for the bath, try to soap her up in the bath, not before hand. That way, she doesn't get that cold. I was also washing Emily on her changing mat and then putting her in the bath and she didn't like that much. Now I put her straight into the water and wash her once she is in the bath and she loves that. Also, make sure that the bath is nice and full so that most of her body is covered in water because it reminds them of being in the womb.

Hi Moms, Darn its cold in Cape Town today ....

So thanx everyone for teh advice re poo.... i started laying Scarlett on her tummy which helps as she sleeps longer i put on the Angel Care Monitor for peece of mind.

MomtoJ seems like our girls are going to be good singers one day, I started to let Scarlett cry for a bit before i just run and pick her up but this morning she screamed so bad that she turned blue in the face and i promise i left her for about 3 mins. Also when i bath her she hates getting cold so i practically dip her in the water just to get all the body wash off and dry her quickly.

Still no luck with the dummy, maybe going to try out the honey dummy ... I dont get to express any milk as Scarlett drinks on demand and they dont even fill up and get hard any more. she is looking kinda fatty hope im not over feeding her.

As for the pill Dr gave me a script said that i shoudl start taking it 4 weeks after birth which is round about now. As for the deed i really cant wait to be honest, i think when i had jude we done it after 5 weeks felt weird so we waited another 2 weeks. Hubby is marking down the days on the calender already.LOL

As for the injections i take Scarlett to Bonita's Baby Well Clinic at Cape Town Medi Clinic, she is really awesome. For the first weighing and check she charged R50. And for all the 6 week injections is about R230 i think. I wanna also phone the clinic at Dischem and find out what they charge.

Anyways, i very irratated now cos i just layed Scarlett down for a nap and this flippen planes are practising for the airshow next week, it's so loud and scarlett wakes up everytime one flies by. So she is sleeping on my chest.

Date night tomorrow night :) My mom is coming around to babysit and dh and I are going for dinner and then to watch the Marc Lottering show at on Broadway. I am a little nervous about leaving her for the first time, but my mom will be looking after her when I go back to work in January, so I want them to be super comfortable with each other by then, so that means a few babysitting hours before then. Wish me luck, hope it goes well.

Girly, I don't express anymore, but when I did, I just used boiling water as well, but yes, it does take a while and then cools down pretty quickly, but as long as it is room temperature and not fridge cold, it's fine. Emily is on formula now and her bottles are all room temperature, I don't heat any of her bottles - I fill them all with boiled water at night and use those bottles the next day without reheating. What bottles are you using?? I have a bottle warmer that I couldn't use because the tommee tippee bottles are too wide to fit in there, so if you are using a different bottle, you can have my bottle warmers if you want?? I have the snookums plug in one as well as one that gets plugged into your car lighter for when you on the road. You are welcome to have it if you are using narrower bottles.

Nikki - I hate going to babies r us in canal walk - the staff are REALLY pathetic and soooooo unhelpful. Hope you come right with the swing purchase - I have the portable bright starts one. Girly, I am soooo glad that Kaylee is happy with the swing and that you are getting a bit more shut eye - YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the nookie, my suggestion is to get it over and done with as soon as you get the go ahead from your doctor. It was really unpleasant the first time and the gynae told me that it would be and she advised to do it as soon as possible, because the longer you wait, the worse it's going to be!!! She did a pap smear at my 6 week appt and I literally screamed - quite embarassing actually!! DH could hear me in the other room :) So, use lots of lube and get it over and done with. The second time was back to normal again - yeah ;)

Nikki - I am JEALOUS about the weight!!!! Can't believe you picked up so little - you are very lucky. I REALLY need to hit the gym soon!!

Went to Babys R us at Canal Walk - gosh those assistants are downright useless-one was so busy on his cell that it looked at if we were interrupting him and the other lady was just as bad that we eventually just walked out. There was one I liked, a Fischer but they did not have batteries foer the demo - go figure! So couldn't really see the features and the demo was the last one. It was too late to go to Baby city, so unfortunately we didn't get one.

@ Girly - I'm short 1.52m and was carrying extra weight before I fell pregnant - was 64kg and went up to 68.5kg just before I gave birth. Now weigh 58kg.
I use a bottle warmer to heat up feeds, its easy and quick because you just plug in and in minutes its the right temp
For all It does cool down quiet quickly though. I'm also a sucker for sweets and chocolates and cakes and know I shouldn't but can't help myself. My biggest weakness are those chocolate cupcakes from woolies, simply divine!!!
BTW the paed quoted us over 2K for the 6 week vaccines. The government clinics were free but wasn't giving Prevenar. We got Peyton's at the Baby Wellness clinic at Cape Town Medi clinic and paid only R180

Booked her 10 week shots as well there.
