Good morning ladies

Thanks Charnenay, Emily is gorgeous too!
And Girly, Kaylee is looking so cute. I love her facial expression in the Pooh bear outfit.
Wow are her eyes brown already? We are very curious to see if John's eyes stay blue. Mine are brown and hubby is blue so we really thought brown would win (although I always secretly hoped for blue). DH has a very strong blue gene in his family from his Gran and my Dad's eyes are also blue so you never know...

John is going through a similar kind of growth spurt/ feeding frenzy to Kaylee! Sometimes switching to 2 hourly feeds and hungry like its been much longer than that. And lots of cramps and loud farts and poos! My milk is also increasing and looks more and more like milk. I haven't started expressing yet, we will buy an expresser in the next week or so. Shame, I know your pain re: the swollen boobs but you are doing the exact right thing by putting hot and cold on it and hand expressing a little and massaging. I hope it goes back to "normal" soon.
Shame a pinched nerve in the stitch must have been super painful!

The nurse told me yesterday that John is not sleeping as much because he is more alert now and is becoming bored so I can pull out the play gym mat and start playing games with him. I've already been playing a few games though, I think its natural instinct. One thing he really likes - my sister is a montesorri teacher and she made him a black and white kaleidoscope of sorts - very simple - a circle with 8 quadrants of black and white. I put it up next to his changing mat and he stares at it while I'm changing him. They like black and white when they are young because of the contrast apparently :)

We've got our first vacs in 4 weeks time when he is 8 weeks old. It is going to cost me R680 for the 6-in-1, which are given over 3 sessions, at 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 16 weeks. This is alot cheaper than it used to be, we are so lucky we had him now and not last year. Some of my friends paid well over 2k for the same injections. I'm sure I could get them for free at a government clinic but I am really happy with the sister at Fourways Intercare so for now I will stick with her.

Are you ladies having naps during the day to compensate for the night shifts? I haven't had one in a couple of days and I am absolutely finished! I must have one today because we have a busy weekend, le sigh.

Happy Friday everybody!

AFM - 2 hours after starting my original post :)

We've had the most hectic week so far. K had her 6-8 week growth spurt since Sunday, feeding 2hourly sometimes, very seldomly does she go 3hrs without a feed. As a result, too much food, and cramps (as per sister at the clinic). So she would go down for a sleep during the day, and wake up 20minutes later crying from cramps, and then not sleep again for 2 hours. Each time she gets more tired and by evening she is so overtired she cries non stop. To add to this that DH was out both Tuesday & Wednesday night so very long days for me, but typically when MIL came to visit tuesday night she was well behaved. Trying to get an overtired baby to sleep is no easy task. Then feeding 3 hourly at night instead of her usual 4 and wide awake anywhere between 5 & 7am means no sleep for mom.

So I am exhausted!
Yesterday I had the start of mastitis. My breast was very sore and constantly felt full. So I used hot & cold relief, and expressed in the shower, took ponado's etc and thankfully it feels better today. My milk supply has increased greatly after the growth spurt, expressing 100ml at a time quite easily (when I need to express).

I took K for her immunizations today. She was such a brave girl, but really cried while getting the injections, felt so bad for her. Gave her food straight after and she calmed down luckily. She slept most of the afternoon but at around 5pm she started getting niggly and really cried a whole lot non stop - I might be going deaf after that! Gave her more ponado as could feel she has a temp (the braun ear thermometre doesnt seem to work properly?) and she settled down but is still very niggly.
Going to need DH to help take care of her tonight as I am pooped and need a break as I cannot go on like this.

Hopefully the spurt is now over, and things can go back to normal, as looking back the weeks before this one were a breeze!

I had a pedicure today. My aunt who owns a salon made a house call. Feel so much better for it. Now just bikini wax in a couple weeks and some shopping and I'll feel much better.

Here are some pics of Kaylee the last couple weeks. Please post some pictures for us to see :)

Enjoying her new swing!

Hello ladies. Long time!

Hope everyone is doing okay. I cant believe how quickly the time is going :(

BabyKsmom that is so sweet of them! Enjoy your birthday party and take lots of pics :)

Charnenay you are very lucky! They definitely go through stages though, so she might become very clingy next :) Ooh that sounds exciting! I'm looking for ideas for our photoshoot in a few weeks time. Please share! Where did you go?

BabyK - the throwing head back 'tantrums' - K does that when she's overtired, almost fights her food even though its right there. We just have to persevere unfortunately. Are you demand feeding him?
You are VERY lucky with the support base! I wish my mom lived closer. She's not that far, 40kms, but too far for my liking.
Such a cute photo! His eyes look like they'll stay blue? K's are definitely brown.
Re ceaser recovery - I had a nerve caught in the stitch so the first 10 days were very bad until the stitch was removed, but after that Ive had no issues at all.

Judes mom just reading your post makes me tired lol! How is Scarlett today?

Mina glad to hear youre doing good! Always nice to see the FB updates too.
I feel the same re leaving her, would love to find a nanny that comes each day - no space for a live in one. Also dont have grandparents who can help as they work.
Hopefully DH finds the perfect job soon and then you can relook staying at home! Wow cant believe we're going into October now!

Cape town ladies we need to get together already! I think someones house might be easier with our LO's. Any ideas? I stay a bit far out for most I think otherwise Id offer our place.

My little boy is one month old today! My folks have come over and we're going to have a piece of Swiss roll, my mom even bought a candle
Then tonight DH and I will have a nice dinner together, that is if John lets us ;)
