Morning ladies,
Here is my birth story - typing as I remember - hope its not too long
I started getting back pains on Wednesday night (2010-08-18) - not BH, but consistent pain, in one spot on my lower back.
Woke up on Thursday to pure agony, could barley move. Managed to get through the day with LOTS of hot baths and hot water bottles.
Went in to the clinic on Thursday night around 8pm, to have see if baba is still fine, and not in distress.
Midwife examined me, and after long phone chat with gynea, they decided to keep me overnight for observation.
They thought it was either baba pinching a nerve, or possibly a kidney infection - (lots of blood/urine tests later, seems it was nerve).
Gynea came to see me Friday morning, did internal, and gave me the "not so good" news. My pelvic bones were narrowed at the top, and with me carrying such a big baby... If he came at the correct angle, he could make it, but if he turned, he would get stuck.
Since I REALLY wanted my natural birth, they decided to allow me a trial of labour. Got induced at 3pm, with c-sec booked for 8pm, if not progressing well.
At about 17:30-18:00 the midwife did another internal, and my water broke. After that the contractions started - I think. The pain in my back got so bad, I couldn't feel anything else. And they could only offers gas for pain relief...
The put me in the bath to help with the pain, and by then I could feel the contractions, starting in front, and then shooting straight through to my poor back.
Lets just say, about 20 minutes of this, and I begged for the c-sec. (and there I always thought I had a good pain threshold

)
Result is they phoned everybody, and moved the c-sec up to 7pm.
When the spinal went in, its was pure bliss (the doula actually said she saw me smiling

), I was able to relax, with no pain for the first time in 2 days.
DH came to sit by me, and they began. So, on 2010-08-20 at 19:22, my beautiful baby boy was born.
Weight: 3.89kg, Length 53.5cm, and head 37cm.
Agpar 6, then 8
Turns out his head was way to big to get through, and he was already stuck when they pulled him out. Poor baby was exhausted, and struggled to breath at first.
Daddy got to cut the cord, and they brought him to me to put on my chest while they finished up.
Then he got taken to the nursery for further monitoring, and as soon as they were done with me, they took me there as well, for some skin-to-skin, and his first attempt at feeding.
Got to spend 4 days at Genesis, under the excellent care of their staff.
Came home on Monday morning, and been attempting to catch up on sleep ever since then
