WOW, congrats JeanineK. I'm so not ready for my baby to grow out of this stage. Want to keep her "baby" for as long as possible. But she has other plans.She's giving a couple of steps on the bed but not on the floor yet. Will take her to a park to see if she will do it on the grass.

As for sleeping. OMW, it's a battle. She has a long (1,5 to 2 hr) nap in the morning and only a 30 min one in the afternoon. Tryi to get her to sleep by 19h30 at night, but everything needs to be dark and quiet. She is such a light sleeper. She still wakes up A LOT and wants milk. I'm seriously contemplating moving her to her own room as in very soon (I am pro co-sleeping) as I think we might be disturbing her.

We're not planning anything for Missy's first birthday. Dad is working that weekend. But I am set on getting her a nice outfit and a proper cake so we can at least take some pretty pics.

Don't you all just love this stage. Shani is so adorable. Can take me out of a bad mood any time. She adores her brother and her eyes lights up when she sees him. Maybe it is bacause she knows they can be naugthy together. She is imitating everything we say and do.The latest is trying to say "Love you" which comes out as "La you" and she would give "tight" hugs. Her brother just LOOOOOVES those.

Sonay - Welcome back we missed you! yes Kaelyn also does the torrential druel thing every now and then and we get all excited that tooth no. 3 might just come and then we wake up and its all gone... its driving us insane!

Yes we are having a spit braai at our place for Kaelyn's birthday party, its a rubber duck theme. Her god mom is making a big cake for everyone and a small cake for little K. We also went shopping for a present for Kaelyn over the weekend... going to get her a little tricicle... and my mom and dad have decided on a little plastic playhouse.
Anyhow you are invited to the party, so just let me know if you are coming (the invite is a page back or so) so that i can make sure to have some food for your little one.

Janine - WOW congrats... you must be so proud! Kae takes a few steps every now and then but at the moment crawling is so much faster so if its a big distance she crawls it still, just her confidence is a bit lacking, thats all

Kaelyn has also started waking up at midnight again this week... she was sleeping so very very nicely and then this but i am sure its just a phase and will pass soon... the sooner the better

Hi Ladies

Willem is still sleeping 'not so well' some nights he makes it to 5am, but most nights he wakes up between midnight and 2am. However, he is now only getting tea at that time of the morning - no more milk! He seems happy to go back to sleep holding his bottle

The second top tooth seems to be pushing through - felt the smallest tip this morning - so hopefully completely through in a few more days - and then HOPEFULLY a bit of rest, and settling back into old sleeping habits before the next round starts

Willem is walking ALL OVER the place now! Last week I was all excited to see him give a few steps at a time, now I barely notice him walking the entire length of MIL's flat

Hi ladies

How are you all? Seems like most of the baba's are doing well. Sorry to hear about those that were sick, hope they are better now. (Yes, I just scanned through the posts)

We've been away for 3 weeks, 2 of which we spent in the Cape. One week back at home and I only now get a chance to post.

We we so lucky to be in the Cape while you guys had the lovely summer weather. Just a pity we were not prepared for it. I packed for cold, rainy weather and planned cosy evenings with red wine around fireplace. Nothing of the sorts happened.

As for m little munchkin: she loved meeting all the new people. We were actually quite suprised at how easy she was going to everyone. But come night time, she only wants mama. Got sick, with DH, the last week in CT. Took her to the pead on Monday since she had a fever the entire weekend and was super clingy. He sent us home with a script for Nurofen. According to him some viral infection. She's still not 100% but I refuse to take her back to him. Will treat her now with all the Homeopatic stuff.
NO, still no teeth!!! But I think that might be a cause of some of her irritability. She is drooling so much, doesn't want you to get close to her mouth.
She's totally off babyfoods, even cereal. Eats whatever we eat. What cereal do you give to your littlies?

Any birthday parties soon? Can't believe it is that time already.

Terrible Accident on the N1,

AM litterally shocking and crying as am writing this, there was a terrible accident on the N1 this morning 4 cars pile up.
A mother and a two kids were flung out of their car. the mother died on the scene, her 2 kids were air lifted to the hospitals. its has just been reported that her 6 months baby has also died from head injuries while her 4 year old little daugth is in critical condition.

this is really really sad.
Please pray for the little girl that she makes it.

Yep, Willem is also ma-vas at the moment, he can't see me leave the room ,and its tears.
Even getting hard to drop him off in the mornings - and he LOVES his grandparents!

And lately he is just plain miserable (that second top tooth coming, and there I thought I would have a week or two's rest). He cries to be picked up, I pick him up, and he kicked to be put down, I lower him, and he doesn't want to stand, doesn't want to sit, and ends up throwing himself on the floor!!

Willem's birthday is on the Saturday, so we are going to have his party on the same day. Planning to take the Friday off to bake and prepare though (and definitely still taking him to MIL).
I just can’t decide on the theme yet!!! I keep changing my mind.
I saw a nice (easy) cake in the June You magazine. The cake was a round cake, cut in half, and then you put the 2 halves next to one another to make a snail – with a cupcake at the front for the head. Thought to adapt that to maybe make a ladybird or something (or stick with snail)
But now I’m thinking I might just go with the number 1 cake.

Guess I have to decide by the time we do the invites (which is running horribly late as well), which is going to be once the venue is finalized.
We want to go to Delta park (playarea), but MIL mentioned that there is a number on a board somewhere to phone for ‘birthday parties’ – so now I’m not so sure f we are just allowed to pitch, or if we have to get permission, so I want to go there and check – which I only have time for on a weekend.


Oh, another idea if somebody wants to use it - very nice for smallish kids.
To bake nice small cupcakes without fuss. Get the edible cupcake cups (made from same stuff as ice-cream cones), and then you bake the cupcakes in the cups. Nice and small - perfect size for kids - no messy muffin pans to wash, and no paper sleeves to pick up afterwards
I baked about 80 in one afternoon once!!

Kerry - we are doing the same thing (D's is also Fri 26th) - taking the day off and going to the Barnyard

Have decided to go to the Baking Tin and hire things for the cake - still deciding what to do - maybe a big '1' shaped cake and decorate it for the guests and do a sep cake for D to play with (there's a gorgeous mould for a 3d bear sitting up - how cute!!)

Anyway, will def have to practice the cakes now
