Ok, got my keys and am at work :) Ripped off a bit, I think, but hey at least I have 2 functioning keys again :)

Glad it's not just me with a ma vas baby, thought I was doing something wrong? :D

I've taken next friday and monday off. I am still sending Evan to school though. I have to get the last items finished for the weekend and on the Saturday I have another 1st birthday to attend. SIL's nephew - he was born a few minutes after Evan on the same day. :) I will be going to school though to take him and his class mates a party pack and cup cakes. Going to make a practice batch this weekend to make sure they come out ok :) On the monday I have a gynae check up to make sure my plumbing is ok ;) and Evan's 1yr vaccinations. I didnt want to take him on his birthday, that would just suck.

Addo, I think most of us are doing something. Evan's birthday's next friday so there'll be a little cupcake session at school and the Sunday is his Christening / Birthday cake and tea afterwards :)

I think the kids would love the zoo. Evan goes crazy over animals and love watching birds.

Addo - T Is beautiful, and congrats on her big big day :-)

Cols - Oh my word is K Ma vas you wouldn't believe it, at the moment everything i do i have her in one arm... she won't go to granny and grampy if i am there... but whats worse even if she is cozy and content cuddling on my lap, if DH leaves the room she has a fit too! I honestly just thought it was a little of a delayed reaction to the creche, but if you gals say your babies are going through the same then i am guessing its more a development stage huh?

babyK - Glad i could help, even if it wasn't intentional :-) and there is nothing at all wrong with using the ready mixed stuff... really :-) Its still far more personal than the rest of us... lol

We have decided to take Kaelyns actual birthday off (Friday the 26th) and take her on an outing, just the three of us... :silly: Considering either JHB Zoo or maybe goldreef city... somthing fun.... Don't really know how much she will appreciate it at this age... but i am sure she will still enjoy spending the day with us

Hey Cols, maybe you're pregnant (wink wink). They say babies and cats can pick it up early on ;)
But John has also been a bit more ma-vas lately too. Every time I leave the room he makes this donkey noise/ cry until I come back. Its very irritating actually (the noise I mean).

Shame don't stress, sounds like you have everything planned nicely and it will all come together perfectly on the day. His cake sounds divine, carrot cake is yummy :)

Sorry re: your keys, that kind of stuff happens to me too, never just one little issue but they all have to rain down together. Hope Citroen can sort your keys out quickly B)

Addo - happy happy birthday to your little girl!! She is gorgeous - i love her little ponies :)

BabyK, you know what, I can bake and I still like to use the cake in the box mixes. I think they come out yummy and moist. My Afrikaans teacher told us to always preheat the oven 10 degrees warmer than what is needed and then turn it to the correct temperature when you are ready to put the cake in. That way your oven doesnt cool down when you put the tin in. Also I always check the cake with a skewer 10 minutes before the finish time because all ovens are different and the cake cooks faster / slower depending. I also love the #1 idea. Very cute :) I ordered Evan's cake - having a 2tier carrot cake with an iced lion figurine on top. The girl is charging me R 450 including delivery.

I am getting really anxious about Evan's birthday and Christening next week. I think combined with my lack of sleep and flu meds I actually feel like I am having a panic attack :) Oh and I am very late for work today. Sitting at Citroen waiting for them to recode and replace my car key. Yup both my keys have died / in the process of dying. The 1 just stoped working and my spare literally fell to pieces in DHs hands when he put it in the ignition on sunday. I have dropped my spare key so many times, I'm not surprised. I am always doing too many things at once.

Evan is getting cuter by the minute, he is pulling up on everything and trying to climb into / onto everything. Obviously he is still too short so he spends 10 minutes lifting his leg before he gives up. He keeps trying to let go of things to stand on his own but his balance isnt so great yet. He is ok with letting go of 1 object and transfering to another while standing - so the other night he was going between the bean bag and the TV cabinet. Or his favourite letting go of whatever is supporting him to grab onto me.

Have any of your babies become a bit ma vas lately? If I am in the room Evan has to be all over me. Climbing on me, kissing me, holding me etc. It's crazy, if I sit on the couch in the lounge, he will leave his toys to come climb on me. While I am cooking in the kitchen he will come stand and hold onto my legs. And if I put him down or move him away he cries. Wierd. He has never be ma vas, doesnt even like cuddling, he normally wriggles out of my arms after a minute or 2. I dont mind, I am not picking him up, i just let him hang around. I dont like him being by me when I am cooking though because I am terrified of burning him.

Congrats Addo! Happy birthday Pumpkin, ;) What's her name again Addo? I have pumpkin brain and can't remember further back than last week sometimes.

PM, stunning outfit, love the fishnets! And DH looked so smart too. Hope you found a party venue yesterday.

Gosh Cols, so soon hey, I still have a month til John's birthday so am definitely dragging my feet, need to get cracking...
Kerry, thanks for the loaf tin number 1 idea, I think I'm gonna use that! You are so creative!
Robyn, I hear you, when I told family I wanted to make John's cakes, my mother-in-law immediately told me she would give me her recipe which is GUARANTEED NOT TO FLOP! Like I would automatically make a cake that flops cos I'm so bad at it
To be honest I think I'm going to use an Ina Paarmans or Pillsbury pre-mix anyway. I have all these wonderful ideas about baking from scratch but never seem to have the time.

Anyways, hope you moms all have a great Thursday!
