Hi!

Eve - MAURITIUS BABY! Then we can all come visit! Australia is very far. Remember to take the time difference into account - you could get very lonely there. Although there is such a big South African contingency there, you'll make friends in no time. But we'll miss you!! Also, that accent - seriously? Blurgh...

Alex is following the private route - and to be honest, I don't even know what injections he gets when. I just trust our clinic sister! She does tell me, but I'm usually so traumatised that I don't really listen.

Lucy - Sally said it's called a bed guard. She got hers off ebay, but she says Mothercare in the UK sells them. I haven't searched myself.

Alex update: wow he has become a tantrum thrower of note! Since Ouma looked after him, he cries/pretend cries/shouts if he doesn't get his way! Ouma basically carried him around EVERYWHERE. He used to be fine being left to play (I can see him from the kitchen), now all of a sudden he can't play unless you're in the same room! And he is already taunting us - like he'll sit at the plug, give me an evil stare and reach over. Then when I say no, he bursts out crying! And oh my word, the biting! I know it's a phase - I mean I'd be biting everything too if I suddenly had a mouth full of teeth, but it's flippen sore.

The little sh*t (said endearingly - obviously) has started waking up at 5.30. Then comes to our bed and 50% of the time falls asleep again, but that doesn't mean I can sleep. It's actually lovely as he falls asleep in my arms, but after 20 minutes, I have a dead arm and am petrified of moving it in case he wakes up! ha ha ha - the joys of motherhood! Little spidermonkey!

We're really enjoying him though - even with the tantrums. His little personality is growing and it's amazing to watch him develop!

Morning gorgeous mommies and babies!

I've reading but haven't had time to post.

Re the beds - I've also heard 18 months is round about the right age but I suppose it does depend on your circumstances and your child so maybe just try it out (you can even try a mattress on the floor and see if baba will stay on it, before you spend money on the bed - they can be pricey!

Vaccinations - Am I the only one using the government vaccinations? According to the Road to Health Chart that we got at the hospital when Connor was born, there are no 12 month vaccinations. Connor is only going for his 9 month measles at 12 months because he's been sick so I've had to postpone it. His paed said Hep A isn't necessary but I'm now confused because it seems that quite a few of you are giving it to you babas (I think it's only on the private schedule). Please advise :)

I'm stressed out of my head - with exams, now working in afternoons, planning his party, deciding if we should immigrate to Australia or accept a job offer in Mauritius - too much to handle right now!

I hope you're all well and will continue to read.

Lots of love
xxxx

Sal - re beds I really think it depends on the baby. They say it's best when babies know to stay in the bed... cause you dont want a fight each night to keep him there... so maybe buy the bed early and try it? Also the baby needs to learn to get out of it safely. Normally 18 months but some earlier and some later...

Sandra - love the sound of the L thing! Please can you get the name or make?! Im also broody - but Hubby is not even sure he wants a second. It did take him 10 years to even say ok to a 1st! However I am also not on contraception... so leaving it in God's hand! We were lucky all the time... was not on contraceptives for years and never fell pregnant... then when we decided it was super quick for us (despite my age of 36 at the time). So will leave it up to the man upstairs!

Hi ladies,

Just a quick pop in.

Sal - I'm not sure about moving to a cot, but friends with 2 babies close to each other have used the camp cot for the first while. Also, another friend (also called Sally) got a toddler bed, but she bought this wooden thing that's shaped like an L. The one side slides under the mattress and the other side then forms a barrier so that child can't fall out. Obviously the other side of the bed is next to the wall. That could work!

Giggles - happy humping! Hope it happens soon.

Alex is going for his next shots when he is 1. It's scheduled in my book, so I'm going.

Wow, can't believe everyone's kids are almost walking! Alex is pulling himself up and cruising along furniture, but very unsure of himself still when walking or pushing his walker/blocks trailer. He'll get there too.

Nelria - so glad you are in your house and it's all good! Your kids sound super cute!

Can't remember who said it, but yes, so sad that baby phase is passing. Perhaps that's why I'm so broody. I'm not on any contraceptive, but we are being 'careful' - whatever, a few glasses of wine and careful becomes a very loosely used relative term...ai! Shouldn't happen now, but it might. Just saying...

I'm with Lucy, didnt know the 12month Vac is optional. Shane gets all his shots at our government clinic for free and his book says he must go get one.

Giggles, I will say a little prey for you and hope it happens quickly. I still remember you and I trying desperately on the TTC'ing thread, the fertility drugs, the anxiety....oh hell it got nasty.

Tiagosmom, no I'm not dreading his 1st birthday. I love him growing up and learning new things, try focus on all the new, exciting things he's going to learn rather than the fact that he's getting big.

Ladies, the pregnancy is going well. I'm 16 weeks already. I'm hating that I'll soon have to wear my maternity wear, sniff sniff, its really not that exciting the 2nd time around. I'm also hating putting on weight...

Quick question, at what age do babies move into beds (obviously with on of those safety things fixed on the side so they dont fall out?) Shane will be 16.5 months when No.2 arrives, will I need another cot? The plan was to get Shane into a bed when No.2 comes. Is it to early?
