Hello everyone

Firstly I would like to say thank you to everyone's support, prayers and well wishes. This has really been a very trying time for our little family.

So after posting on Monday morning about the discharge, I called my doctor. She said to come in to hospital and we could just check that everything was alright. I left work feeling a bit stress and scared but thought nothing of it. On my way home my Gynae phoned again and asked if I could bring my PJ's with as she said she would like to keep me over night due to my complications during pregnancy.

So I stopped at home, got my bags, got my husband and noticed that something funny was going on. Thinking it was Braxton Hicks and just left it at that. When we got to the hospital, I went to the labour ward, they did a urine test, and put me on the machine that checks for contractions and baby's heartbeat.

And there it was, I was in labour, full on labour without even noticing the contractions. So the Gynae's and nurses sprang into gear. The Gynae tried stopping the contractions, this lasted for a while, then we started the steriods just in case. By 11 pm Monday night there was nothing that could be done anymore. My cervix was dialating, my contractions were less than 3 minutes apart and my vitals were crashing.

The Gynae had a good talk to me and my DH. Said that my body couldn't and wouldn't take much more. She would wait for Tuesday morning, to give another shot steriods and then we can see about an emergency C-section. They gave a lot of drugs, and this made me really out of it.

But Tuesday morning I was at my fullest and I was hysterical. So my sister came through to sit with me and try and calm me as my DH was really not coping well. Then my Gynae, the Paediatrician and some nurses came to talk to me. And after they explained everything, this absolute calm came over me. And I just knew I had done everything in my power and that the hospital and it staff had to take over from then.

So at 3 pm on Tuesday the 27/04/2010, my baby boy, Jamie de Kock was born via C-section. Weighing in at 2.57 kilogram and 46 centimetres.

He was rushed to ICU for oxygen. But they let us hold him for a couple of minutes first. Firstly it was the best experience ever, the c-section. I really enjoyed it.

So now Jamie is in ICU. Because he was born 5 and a half weeks premature, he will be staying in hospital between 2 to 4 weeks. Today he is doing well. He is weighing 2.26 kilograms. His lungs are getting better each day but it is still and up hill battle. But everyday is a good day as he is here now.

I was released on Friday morning. And decided to rather come home as the hospital is really a very cold place.

Funny enough I am doing great. The pain is minimal, I was walking and doing things on Wednesday morning without pain. I don't have blues and I don't feel sorry for myself.

I am expressing milk every 3 hours for Jamie and he is eating, well being fed through a tube in his nose now but that is going very well.

So thank you to everyone, I really do appreciate it.

Mrs SH - name is beautiful! Shame, your DH was so sweet...think sometimes they feel more 'comfy' with the mom to be out of the way :) then they can just get on with it! Post some pics...Im still waiting for my blinds :( but they will definitely be arriving on Thursday and will ut them up on the weekend and then post some pics.

Eve - wow! can't believe you had stamina to do all that shopping :) But it must have been such fun :)

Nelria - mmm I never thought of the shakes...may just give it a try. ANy specific brand recommended as better???

Had my baby shower yesterday - it was so cool. Can't believe how generous people are. I got so much for LG...Don't even know if she will have time to wear it all :) Got a silver charm bracelet from my MIL (sweet) and a sea turtle night light (room theme is sea creatures), tinylove play gym, blankets, clothing, shoes, baby producs galore and so much more. Was really blessed out of my socks - but felt shattered this morning. Think my brain was working overtime last night cos I was tired but couldn't sleep. Hope those of you who had your showers were also so blessed!

Enjoy your evening!!!

Mrs SH love the name! So much history and character!

Salomies are Dagwood style sandwiches which are devilishly fattening made with fried chips and Vienna's or palony if I am not mistaken? But I haven't had one since I was at Tech in my 20s!

Eve/Lucy - I'm being blond, what is Salomies? It sounds like salmon which reminds me of sushi...argh sushi.

We went to Reggies today and got a Chelino pouch and a few other bits and bobs.

We have also finally FINALLY fINaLlY decided on a name (although it's subject to change...you know how it goes). We're keeping it quiet from everyone until baby is born, but you ladies are harmless so here goes:

Alexander Edward Haworth

We want to call him Alex and DH's dad's names are Edward Milton Haworth. NO WAY IN HELL am I calling my son 'nappie steriliser', so we settled for Edward. At first I was apprehensive as I went absolutely nuts about the Twilight series (yes, I googled all the previews, news about the stars...I was...a Twi-loser) but at the end of the day, we'll call him Alex.

So now I'm looking for letter A L E X to put on a plack for his room door. We couldn't find it in any normal stores, so I'll go to Treehouse or Babyroom and see how much they're going to rob me for it. Do you have any suggestions of other places?

Our room is looking so stunning! I will take photos a bit later once the curtains are up.

Eve - so stoked that you're getting your shopping done. It so much fun. How much do you still have to go?

Lucy - YAY for sleep!!

Mrs SH that is so awesome! 100 points to your DH!

Oh and I slept all morning today and feel so much better only got up around 12h00! No cramps!!! So read up that BH get worse the more tired you are and also the more dehydrated you are. So if anyone does suffer, before panicking put up your feet and drink some water!

Eve - yeah sooo excited for your shopping spree. You have been so patient and deserved the excitement! Cant wait to see the shopping and preggy pics on Fbook?

Hi ladies

Firstly, welcome to Anthea :)

Lucy - I feel for you! I also have a list of not so great symptoms but mine isn't that long. Mine include:
* Sciatic nerve (constant stabbing pain in ass and thighs)
* Heartburn and acid reflux from hell
* Blocked nose (snap!)
* Phlem (gross)

Mrs SH - your husband is a dream - very sweet of him. It's so weird how they get into the nesting phase as well. When my friend and I got back from the baby registry last Tuesday, DH had cleared out the room (used to be guest bedroom and "laundry"), re-arrange study to fit in the guest bed, packed away all unnecessary stuff - I was sooooo surprised and grateful!

Shopping - ons het ontrend geshop vandag :)
We got the following:
* Video camera
* CD player for nursery
* Chelino C3 travel system and base
* Tommee Tippee Breast Pump
* Tommee Tippee Microwave steriliser
* Blackout blind for nursery
* Carefix maternity pads

Tomorrow is another day at Canal Walk for us - DH hates the shops but as long as he gets a xbox game or something, he's cool (just like a kid)

Photo shoot - our shoot this morning was awesome! Photographer was so into shooting the bump that she shot for an extra hour and we eventually had to tell her that we were running out of time ehehhehhe. I'm sure we got some lovely shots (10 - 15 working days to process). She also offered to come to our house when baby is born because she prefers to do newborn shoots in baby's own space :)

Sorry for the essay but today has been hectic!

Off to go and buy salomies now - yes it's going to cause heartburn but oh so worth it!!

Love to you all!!

I have the BESTEST DH in the world. We had my friend's baby shower today (Eloise - the girl you met at the Baby Sense Seminar?). When I got back, DH had put up the curtain rails and blackout curtains, moved all the furniture, bought blankets and cut out the embroidery teddybears on them, put it in whitewash frames and put them up in the room. The room looks so amazing! We shifted the furniture around and we are finally both chuffed with the arrangement. Now mom just has to come back and make the proper curtains, put up the shelves and we're done! I can't believe he did it all! He is just the best.

I'm enjoying a sneaky glass of red wine before the Sharks vs Bulls game - loving it. Sure it's going to give me heartburn, but it'll be worth it!!

Lucy, enjoy your legs up! Fortunately all the symptoms are gone today. I was worried that it was a bit more than that, but I think it was just a good ole migraine. If it comes back or continues, I'm hitting the gynea's office!
