Jamie - since being back from hospital he is totally out of his routine, which means that my baby that has slept through since 8 weeks old has now started waking up 2 to 3 times a night! I can't handle it. I am exhausted!

So Jamie first day at my mom's place went really well. DH says when he went to pick up little man, grandma was finish, dead tired. Shame I really feel for her. Will be looking for a full time nanny in no time. My mom and dad first want to try out this, where she and her maid take care of him and see how that goes for 3 months. I don't think they are going to make 3 months to be honest.

Mrs S H, shane is back to his old routine. So I'm not starting him on solids yet. He has 5 x 175ml bottles during the day between 6am and 6pm, so thats one every 3 hours. He goes to sleep at 7pm and wakes at 5/6am. I'm holding out on starting solids for as long as possible. If you look on all those cerelac boxes etc it says from 6months onwards, however the Paed did say we can start at 4.5months, but no need to rush unless he battles through the night. Then I'll start with one helping of cerelac a day, for a week. Then apparently you start with one veg for a week, say butternut or something.

Hi ladies,

Had Chloé christened yesterday. She looked soooo cute. I am tired as hell today. Had a house full of people the whole weekend.

So took Chloé to the dr on thursday. She has bronchitis and middle ear infection. Coughed so violently that she started crying and could not sleep at night. I now have her on the nebulizer twice a day and give her Iliadin for the nose. She still coughs, but it looks like she's doing ok.

As for solids, we already started at three months with Cerelac, she now eats 4 teaspoons Cerelac every day at lunchtime. We also started to give her purity at 5 o'clock, she does not like butternut, but so far she eats the carrot one. Must say all of this was done under paed supervision. She is a big girl. She is 16 weeks today, is 70cm tall and weigh 8kg.

She sleeps from 18:30 till 04:00am (sometimes even 06:00am), drinks her bottle and go back to sleep for another three of four hours.

Hello Ladies,

Sorry for being MIA. Jamie has been terribly sick. He was in hospital from Monday last week till Thursday. He had a virus similiar to the Rotavirus. So bronchitus, tonsils and gastro! They put him onto a drip on Tuesday as he was so bad, he couldn't lift his head. I had stayed with him every second. DH would come at night, I would go home, get a shower and then back to the hospital. He is doing better, still coughing and snotty nose. But now I am terribly sick...HOSPITALS!

As for the day-care, we have taken him out as per Paed's instruction. Jamie's lungs took it bad now with the bronchitus, and won't be 100% for a while! So now my mom and her maid are going to take care of him till we can find a full time nanny. He will still be doing moms and babes with my mom, and I will be buying the BABY EINSTEIN DVD's as well as swimming twice a week with my mom. And get this, I supply all products, food and pay only the nanny like R700 a month extra. SO a lot cheaper than school!

SIMONE - To all the ladies that have been so supportive, understanding and generous. DH and I went through today, we took a whole bakkie load of things. She has the most beautiful children, and she was very emotional! So the biggest problem is that they need a fridge and a micro wave. Between Nelria and I we have sorted them both out.
The thing is that neither Simone or her DH has found work. They still need help with groceries and other things, so if you want to send anything else extra. Please let me know. DH and I will be going through on the 16th.

I was going to ask the same question. Alex is 16 weeks on Monday. I'm taking him for his vac's and will ask the sister then too. They say that if he has doubled his birth weight and can hold his neck up, then they are ready for solids. I'm not keen to start now though, although Alex has also started waking up more frequently at night. How often does Shane feed during the day, 3 or 4 hourly? Alex is on 3.5 or 4 hourly. He probably weighs about 7.5kgs now, my guestimate. Let me know what you're doing. And how, I'm rather clueless on the whole solids story. after cereal, what are you going to start with and how much per feed?

Ja, dh and I are talking about it, gotta plan it sort of, we have a wedding in Mozambique in Mar 2012 and ideally would like to leave both children with grandparents by then. So if we have one by Aug/Sept/Oct/Nov nect year, then we'll be able to leave him. Anything after that would be too soon. Anyway probably too much info...
