alex - that is soo cool u getting there quickly and i use to dance my little feet of to just to entertain with lea

lucy - oh my word sorry for crappy nights and reaction to gripe - give them that booze mummy and have some yourself LOL then everybody's chill

mrs S - WELL DONE FOR BITING TONGUE its is super duper hard not to tell them what to do - but i once heard on parenting show - just because we do it beter doesnt mean their way doesnt work - and they are after all a parent too and we just have more time to become experts - but if we leave them they get the knack and bond with their kids and believe u me u really want a kid wanting his dad and a dad capable and wanting to take care of a kid specially later

like for example - brett has now taken over caring for lea 100% she trusts him he is fullly capable and mummy gets to take care of xen and not stress over lea's needs - where i know dads who wont even put a kid to bed as their wifes always did it and they dont know how (excuses) but handed on a platter i those early days

ok xen has been keeping feeds down since thuesday night wooooooooooohooooooooooo and since last nights feed no more tugging whoop whoop ok he did wake at 3 and wanted to eat since then today but i figure he was 4 wks yesterday so must be the growth spurt now kicking in

thanx everyone for the encouragement. Its so scary being responsible for this little person. I stuck to my guns and only fed him every 2 hours, which wasnt easy. At one pt i danced with him for 15 mins to calm him down, shame poor child must have thought i was starving him.

Lucy- hope tonight goes better with london.

Hey Guys

Well last night was a night straight out of hell! London had been fairly good all day and then last night was niggly again. So I decided to try some Gripe Water with his 7pm feed after his bath. Oh my word! It brought up his winds in such a bad way that he was crying blue murder the WHOLE NIGHT. I felt awful seeing my poor child in such agony.

Eventually we called our local hospital maternity and they said the only way around this was to work through it and give more Gripe Water. We had Bennetts Colic Mixture so we decided to try that instead. It is loaded with alcohol so I felt very guilty! Anyway it worked, he went to sleep farting all the way!

Then this morning at 8am he had a royal number 2 of note! We gave him some more this morning at 8am and he has been good all day! Sleeping for longer periods before eating.

I have decided to reduce his feeds from 8 to 6 as he is almost 6 weeks and should ideally be on 5 now... heaven only knows how you do 5 haha!

So will see how it goes... Have been told to give him water in between feeds as often they are thirsty and not hungry. So giving him bigger feeds and hoping he wont snack and will finish the feeds!

Any advice?

Hi everyone

Hope everyone is doing good today.

Alex - please hang in there, I was in tears so many times in the beginning. When my LG started crying hysterically I couldn't handle it and started freaking out. It does get better. My lg is now 4 weeks old and things are already so much easier.

Nelria - hope Xen gets better real soon. Zarika also brings up a lot of milk the last few days and I am not sure if it reflux or just winds. Will stuck it out and see how it goes.

Mrs SH - I know exactly how you feel about not wanting to correct DH, it is difficult but if you correct him maybe they will take it the wrong way and then feel excluded.

Zarika is going through a growth spurt at the moment. Last nigth between 6 and 9 she drank almost every hour and I struggled to get her to sleep during the night. Luckily, I know this will past too.

Enjoy the day!

Skyler - I wish I did laser in hospital too. Mine was completely raw, but the laser sorted it out six love. Wish I didn't wait until it got that bad. I like the tip about expressing whilst feeding - I'll give it a bash.

DH's mother sent this flippen poo bear laying down singing carols and DH thinks it's the business. I've taken to singing Alex to sleep (usually just the same song over and over) and DH thinks that this thing will replace the need for singing - and it's clearly not. It's so hard for me to not go in there and tell him what to do. Are you ladies finding that you've got the urge to continuously correct DH? I'm stopping myself from doing it, but it's so hard. I guess if you're spending all day with the baby, you get a knack for his moods etc - DH needs to figure it out for himself, but it's so frustrating to see him try all the things I've already tried. Anyway...here's to biting your tongue!!!

Alex was a dream child yesterday - he slept when he was supposed to and feed 3 hourly. DH went to the soccer game last night at Greenpoint, so he (Alex) didn't get his bath. He is usually awake for 2 hours at his bath time. Anyway, he basically slept straight after his feed. Which meant that last night at his feed at 2, he did not want to sleep! He was slept out and it took me ages to get him to bed! He also puked down my cleavage, like proper puke - 2 streams - it was so grouse.

Anyway, DH needs the machine. Chat later

nelria- thanx for all the advice, i'll be trying out everything today so i finally get to put ur advice to work. The last thing i want is lopsided boobs!! This child is real sneaky- he falls asleep while feeding then i tickle his face, his feet, his ears but he wont wake up, but as soon as i put him down he screams bloody murder. I'm not gonna be his dummy! i'll try stretching the gap between feeds but know he'll not be happy about it.

I envy u, u so calm, i panic as soon as he cries and just want to calm him down. Lucky xen!
