Skyler - do you feed on demand or to a schedule? I feed on demand, but on a 3-4 hourly basis during the day. No one day is at the same times though. Alex only wakes up once at 2am if I feed him between 10-11 at night and then again between 5-7 in the morning, which I consider quite a good pattern. But lately, I've been so tired (it's a vicious circle) that I'm feeding him at around 8-9 at night and then have to wake up at 1-ish and around 4-6ish every night. I've not once woken him up for a feed, but now wonder whether I should start doing that at after bath time? Bath time also moves around - can be anywhere between 7 - 10. So I was just wondering what the other breastfeeding ladies does?

Alex - it gets better. My Alex only feeds about 8-10 minutes per boob now that he is 4 weeks old. So don't stress about the 1 hour long feeds, it starts like that until your milk supply is established.

Lucy - I gave Alex gripe water last night and kind of forgot to tell DH. So when he later had Alex, he gave him 2 mls of Buscopan and got vomitted on! It was a little bit funny, but we felt so guilty giving him so much in the space of 2 hours. He was fine after that though. Shame, our poor little man.

Ronel - any luck yet? How is Zarika doing now? One of the government injections is out of stock and will be for another 2 months. Lizbe (the sister) said that private has it in stock and it will cost R330 for that injection. I have a feeling my medical aid actually covers immunisations, I'll have to go check.

Wow, everyone is real quiet! Hope things are well.

Ronel- hope things are going better. Mateo also starting spitting up milk but not too much. I asked the sister why and she said he swallows too fast and therefore swallows air so that little milk has to come up in order to get the wind out. Not sure if that helps.

Lucy- how did the shots go? Shame, i'm really not looking forward to that. Did the panado drops work?

Nelria- i cant join that group with my phn on facebook to vote for Lea, could u send a group invite? Hope xen's doing better.

Afm- mateo now weighs 3.9kgs, at birth he weighed 3.42kgs so he picked up nicely. No surprise since he feeds for an hour at a time. Damn winds are getting to me, i'm using gripe water before feed, works sometimes.

skyler- awesome news! Ur little man is so strong! Hope he recovers really quickly.

Lucy- thanx so much for the tips! The drive always works but when mark's gone with the bakkie, i'm stuck. I'll remember the pram one, as long as the weather is permitting. I have a sling which is proving to be useless in that situation. Told mark we need to get that swing or bouncer chair asap.

hey all just a quick drop in to say that breyton's surgery went well he drank immediately after and has been so good ever since, i was given panado for when he is in pain for every 6 hours. So i gave to him the first day every 6 hours even if he wasnt in pain cause i thought the first day he will definately be sore so i dont want the painkillers to wear off and then he is in pain and then only give him panado so tomorrow i wont give him any and will see how it goes. He is such a little trooper as if he didnt have surgery!!!!

Hey Alex London does the same! What we do is one of 4 things:

1. Wear him our Baby Bjorn which is like a Kango Carrier

2. Rock him in his Baby Bouncer Chair, but I want to get a Swing instead.

3. Take him for a drive.

4. Push him in his pram

Hopefully one of those works for you too

mrs sh- dont u dare feel guilty! U on call around the clock so one day off is less than whats entitled to u. We gonna try and give Mateo a bottle again in this week so i can at least get one feed off.

lucy-good luck with the upcoming growth spurt! i just need to know what to do with an overtired baby, there has to be a trick to getting them to sleep or at least some drops that will knock them out, look how desperate i am i'm considering drugging my baby! Geez!

ronel- shame man, i have an idea what u going thru. My little man has also decided he doesnt want to sleep after a feed, just its not cramps coz he doesnt cry. I try rocking, swaying, white noise, a dummy, singing but he lies there with his eyes wide open. After about 40 mins of this he gets cranky and will cry, i think he's overtired at that pt, then i really struggle. I hope ur baby settles soon.
