firstly g - woooooooooohooooooooo welcome De Nys!!!! go mummy go one for natural

lucy - top and tail is absolutely fine - hospitals alternate their baths with top and tails too - I just prefer the relaxing effect baths have on babies, the massages relaxes there limbs and it makes a definite destinction to them when day ends and night begins

I have gasheater in bathroom so i crank that up full blast all of us go in bathroom and xen lies in bath on his thingy for ages, his sussie washes him and inspects him, then i massage him and dress and then wrapp warmly and a feed and straight to bed

as for nippples lasinoh is great to rub on daily - then airing is the most important next to sun so find a nice sun spot in house (sun through window strip down and just lounge bairchested with baba 3x a day then after every feed let nipples dry on own and leave exposed for atleast 5min

its the wetness that cracks them - btw girls breastfeeding should never hurt - if it does they are latching wrong remember not just the nipple tip goes in they actually scuk on the whole thing so if it pulls their gums are damaging u - simply slip pinky in release and re-latch till u dont feel them sucking - otherwise your nipples will keep tearing

lucy - re routine i find the babysense books break it down the nicest its basically eat, poop, sleep for 1st 2 weeks but after that u can start timing awake times, make sure u get their nights and days set

Hi everyone

Our LG, Zarika, was born on the 9th of June and she weighed 3.055kg en was 46cm tall. The c-sec itself wasn't bad at all for me and it is the most amazing feeling when they put your baby on your chest. However, I am struggling with the pain of the scar afterwards. It is a lot better now but once I lay down I can't get out of bed myself. My hubby needs to pull me up, it is just to painful. Has anyone else experience that? Tomorrow it has been a week since my c-sec, how long will I still have this pain and discomfort?

With our baby it is going so well. I do sometimes feel so stupid with the baby and not sure what to do when, but we are learning. She is extremely fond of her daddy and he just has a way with her and is the only one that can calm her. In the beginning I couldn't handle her screaming when you change her diaper but it is getting better each day. I am also breastfeeding and it is going extremely well with that.

Jane - I also had a few blocks of chocolate the other day and my baby had cramps that evening and cried for hours, so also no more choccie for me.

Bathing - the nurses in hospital told us we can bath baba every 3rd day.

Congratulations to everyone who had their babies, it is such an awesome and surreal experience!!

Well girls - My EDD is today, so I am not sure what will happen.

Alex - when are you due again? Are you having natural?

Jane - Yes certain foods do affect breastfeeding. I know that chocolate gives some cramping, so that is what it was.

All the new mom's you are all doing so very great. I can't believe that you were all chatting on this forum waiting for babies to arrive. Can you believe how quick time flys by?

Have finally managed to catch up on all the reading...CONGRATS TO ALL THE NEW MOMMIES The little ones are coming in thick and fast!

Nelria - sorry you didn't enjoy the c-sec experience. I must say that I didn't find it bad at all, but I do kindof agree with the 'rush of emotion when they place baby onyour chest' but then I don't have anything else to go by. Caitlin also had cord around her neck once.

To the rest of you whose little ones have arrived, YIPPEE!!! Hope you are enoying them as much as Im enjoying Caitlin

Caitlin is also a very good baby. Hardly cries, but when she does it is LOUD She must be having a growth spurt today cos she is feeding more regularly (usually every 4 -5 hours).

AFM - Are you avoiding certian foods if you are BF??? I don't know if it was just coincidence, but I had chocolate and Caitlin was very difficult that night... so no more choccies for me. I have eaten a little onion and mushrooms and she hasn't reacted to that.

I'm battling to get my last few assignments out but i know i need to do it before labour starts. Unisa releases exam results sooo slowly. Only got 2 back, 63% and 72%. No distinctions so far but none of these papers are my major so i dont really care.

nelria- i definitely want him to learn to self sooth and will try putting him down while awake but what is he falls asleep while breastfeeding? My mind is already thinking of all the possibilities.

eve- awesome tip for engorged breasts, thanx! I referred back to my notes from antenatal to check if she mentioned cracked nipples and all i found was that u should put lavender oil onto a face pad and apply that onto the nipple as it helps heal cracked nipples. Not sure if it will work but its something to try. Glad Connor slept well. Im surprised u up doing washing, shoo!

thanx new mommies for advice on bathing. At least i know now that twice a day is too much. The things im stressing about!

Quick update from G baby shes in hospital with strong contractions, she thinks baby might arrive tonight!!
