Congrats Mrs SH & Vikki whooohooo to everyone still left!!!

Nelria I was told its ok to top and tail for a few days if too cold to bath - is that ok? Was planning on bathing him twice a week with a proper top and tail each night. Or is that too little?

Also what kind of routine works with a 2 week old... what should I start doing?

congrats to sandra and chris - he is too gorgeous!

alex - i havent figured out what to do with the nipples yet. for engorged breasts though, my mom in law (ex maternity nurse) told me to steam them. you put your boobs over a basin of hot water and cover it with a towel. it feels soooooooo good and then the milk just starts running out of your boobs. i tried it last night - was like heaven. boobs are still hard so need to do it more often.

connor slept like a dream last night - roughly 3 - 4 hours at a time. i fed him a little while ago and didnt really want him to go back to sleep because he had just woken up so i put him in his carrycot and i started with the piles and piles of washing. when i came back a little while later to check up on him, he was fast asleep.

bathing - i was told that you can bath them every 2nd day if you don't want to do it every night but you need to wipe them down when you don't bath them. i dont know if connor slept well last night because he had a bath or because he was formula fed, or a combination of both, but i will be doing it again tonight.

umbilical cord - i got a little worried because i noticed today that connor's cord had some dry blood around it, just a little. so i called his paed (the one from the delivery) and he said that it's normal. only need to worry if it starts bleeding or oozing or smelling funny. he said first time moms are sometimes scared to clean it properly. you really have to get in there and clean it with the surgical spirits - nothing will happen to him if you feel like youre being a little rough. im using a combination of surgical spirits and weleda wecesin powder.

okwey dokey, so im off now - going to start filling in his journal with his birth information.

Mrs S H - CONGRATULATION. He is absolutely georgeous and a lovely weight.

Sandra - whoop whoppppp so glad alex joined us what a big beautifull boym

alex - u bath them once a day as that tells them when the night starts - as u want them to know day from night

eve - good luck with that nipples - air them mummy

morgs - tick tock

alex - no no no no believe u me bad habits stay longer than the cuteness with lea i learned the hard way she is now 19mnths and still not sleeping through i get up about 1-5 times for her and have to sit with her she is also up at 4/5 so thats a killer

in hospital they take babe in nursery for few nights and give him to u on last so with xen i got him at 9 then at 12 he was still fussing i went to nurse and said wtf as i was trying to feed, console, touch etc so she took him wraped in cocoon, packed weights on and voila out like candle for 7 hrs so i realised bad habits is mummies fault

so now i get quality awake time then put down awake and make sure he knows he is alone i check and he is asleep and i can get on with it atleast he learns to self sooth and will be able to do it later on

anyway each to his own lea was colic so couldnt really do otherwise but nr 2 i would like to be more independant

Oh! Lee anne (Vickylee) had a natural birth 2 wks ago so she was the first from our group to have one.

New mommies- is anyone planning to circumcise their little boys and when do u have it done?

Can someone pls answer this question- how often do u bath a newborn esp now in winter? I've heard everything from twice a day to twice a week and am confused!

Simone- sounds like ur body is getting ready as well. Exciting times!

G baby- u stocked up on food, good idea! How are those cramps? Mine are still coming every day on and off.

Juandre- ooh that pubic bone pain has hit u! Just move slowly.

Eve- i checked out Connor with all that hair! Cute! Im worried about getting cracked nipples so let us know how long it takes to clear up.

Nelria- xen is too oulik and sounds like heaven! Lucky u! Sucks about the csection but at least its over and brett is helping u lots. Isnt it hard to put him down and walk away? It makes sense but i would feel so guilty.

Hi Chris here, Sandra's husband. Alexander Edward Haworth arrived this morning at 8:15am weighing in at 3.85kg. Sandra is well and recovering.
