Newborn and baby advice

@Jacadebra: I live in the North, in Woodmead area. pls fwd all party info that u have. would really appreciate it. at the moment, looking at a party package with jumping castle, 20 kiddies chairs and tables etc, a gazebo with draping etc all in whichever theme, a cake for R1700. that's not too bad...or is it? never done this before!!!

@Pinky:my daughter is currently eating everything!!! We put a mixture of fruit in the blender quite often- but we don't puree it too much and leave it just mushed enough for her to eat. (the blender has been an absolute lifesaver! Almost never eats Purity anymore except when mommy is REALLY lazy-which is on most weekends that nanny is away )

Also make her mixed veggies-currently mostly butternut or potatoe with something else like spinach,broccoli or carrots which we just mush with a fork.

She hasn't shown any allergies so have recently also tries avo (but its quite expensive so not that often)

For breakfast she has Cerelac or weetbix with yoghurt.

Must admit she's probably a bit lacking on the meat side. We do give her small pieces of whatever meat we're eating tho.

have an amazing nanny who makes her the best meals and so much variety too! Sadly when mommy's on duty every 2nd weekend when nanny is off, she doesn't get such royal treatment and Purity's been known to be on the menu.

Hope you are all doing well! We are not sleeping a lot this side... Karla is getting 2 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth... all at the same time it seems.... she has got a bit of a runny nose etc... because of the teeth I presume!!

March - May 2010 sounds awesome... we all are about there... Who must change it? Isn't it the person that started the thread?

What are your babas eating at the moment? Karla is not very fond of eating... don't know why though!!!

@Jac - yes - the fist muffles quite a bit... and makes me laugh... so its working in her favour at the moment!

As for 1st Birthdays... I'm also not really into a big schindig... usually the party is more for the adults and other peoples kids! So I've opted for a picnic. Everyone can bring own goodies... and if they want to be away from the kids they can - kids can play and have fun, adults can chill and relax... its just seemed like the best option and if no one pitches that is also fine, hubby, Tayla and I will have a nice picnic! Depending on how many kiddies there are - I may make small goodie bags - but nothing to splashy... and of course i'll make a cake... but that is more to satisfy mommy's sweet tooth

Whereabouts in JHB are you, I'll check on my hubby's PC tonight as I bookmarked a few Cheap places to get castles (I hired for my boy's 3rd birthday)

@jacadebra- how i wish for a small relaxed get together at home *sigh*.

incase we go ahead with the party (which we probably will), anyone from Jhb know where I can hire a jumping castle for a reasonable price?

Bronz, March-May 2010 sounds good! I think all of us fit into that bracket, don't we? If anybody doesn't please mention.

ScribblingAl, with the toothpaste, I literally use a smear, like Bronz said. If they take in too much flouride they can have white lines/ blotches on their permanent teeth. I just use aquafresh baby which is from 0-3 years. Sounds like Emily has got you running all over the place.. lol. Fun to watch them crawl about but tiring having to move this and that and watch out for this and that.
Shame man, hope your flueyness subsides and that Emily steers clear of it

LOL Beansmom! That is one thing that is seriously so true - they want whatever the other kid has... and they don't seem to outgrow it. It is the most annoying thing ever.
The screaming drives me absolutely batty... hopefully the fist in the mouth muffles the noise somewhat LOL! I'll have to teach Lia that hehe. JK lol

Elamsmom, I don't really do 1st birthday parties for my kiddies. For me they are still so young and they don't even have a clue what a birthday is so it seems a bit pointless. We will have a few family members over and sing to her and give her pressies but that's it. It would also stress me out if I had to throw a huge party. Ugh. Having said that, you will probably have a lovely time and it will be nice seeing some of the family you never get to see, so there is a plus side . There are some really gorgeous party venues for kiddies these days, or a bash at home would always be good if you have the space?

I REALLY feel like a small party for her at home. Nothing much.But for some odd reason, we "darkies" (for lack of a better word -I've lost all my politically correct words today!!!)have decided to make 1st birthdays a HUGE deal with relatives flying in from all over the country! Grrrrrrr My mom has already started inviting ppl from home.
