file Newborn and baby advice

Ha ha, Beansmom they are such characters! Emily's tantrums are also something to see. Goodness. I was also so worried about the crawling, and also just wanted her to be mobile. And NOW..... jeez she's a handful. I wonder how she learnt to stuff her fist in her mouth?

Bronz, I like the March to May 2010 name for the thread - that's basically what it is. Should we ask one of the administrators to change it?

Well - we went to friends on Friday night with a crawling baby in the hope that Tayla would watch and learn... I've got over the stressing that she isn't crawling.. but just wish she was mobile... Our backs are breaking with all the one hand walking... Well - it did nothing to assist... all she did was smack the other baby, then play with all Georgia's toys the entire night... her stuff was boring!

So we go out on Sat to buy her a similar toy - and guess what... R150 later and she isn't interested at all! TYPICAL!

We are still toothless... but chewing with the gums... and You You firmly believes that as soon as she has mastered walking she will pop teeth in mass amounts. They believe that babies either get teeth early and take time to walk... or walk early and get teeth late... so lets see if the theory works...

Tayla's tantrums are getting quite something... she now knows i hate her screaming.. so she shoves her fist in her mouth, bites down and screams into that... a real little character. Last night sleep wasn't on her agenda... so we had her in her walking ring watching Toy Story 3 with us.. and when she moaned we'd both jokingly say "Sssh"... so she cottoned onto that... and each time we said "SSH" she'd let a high pitched shriek go then laugh and throw her head back... amazing how quickly they pick up on things! We were in stitches eventually at our little comedian!

Anyhoo - thats my update for the day... let me dash - need to get fruit and yoghurt for madams lunch!

Jacadebra thats awesome!!! They are getting too big now!

Scribbling G also swallows the toothpaste, but I literally only put a scrapping on the brush. Until he is old enough to spit I will do that.

Talking about teeth Graeme popped out 4 top ones in about a week, was not a fun week that was.

Ah Jacadebra, that's great!! And she's done it way before her first birthday too! Clever girl.

Our little ones are really taking off now. After all my moaning about Emily not crawling I rather feel like taking it all back. Jeez she's busy! We've had to move just about everything into my "study" as she has to get past me to get to anything - CDs, books, tools you name it, it's crammed in here. She's walking on her own with the help of her toys so I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

Jacadebra, when you used the baby toothpaste did you manage to get him to spit it out? I don't know if it's safe for them to swallow - it tastes revolting. Emily just swallows hers but the other day she did a little puke not long afterwards.

Hope you manged to get some sleep. We're all a bit fluey here - apart from the little trooper, which amazes me as the nanny was coughing all over her last week.

Lia stood by herself for 10 seconds this morning! And she's taken 3 steps toward daddy this morning! She hasn't done either again since doing it but yay.. so cute.

Always awesome watching them do new things.

Hello Ladies!

Adri - how is it going with the no night bottle thing? Hopefully by now it's all history :-).
I am totally in shock that Lia will be one this month... where the heck has the year gone!!!

Elamsmom - that's cool that she just grabs the bottle herself.. hehe... I'd also probably wake up with the sucking noise lol. Lia's also still in our room in her campcot. I remember with my son I said I'd move him as soon as he slept through... weeell, at 8 months I gave up and moved him (which was easy, he didn't mind at all) - and he only started sleeping through at 20/21 months! With Lia I haven't thought of moving her yet.
Congrats on the toothies, too cute :-)
With my son nothing helped for teething pains. On a particularly bad night a dose of panado/neurofen or whatever maybe got me a 3 hour stretch :-S. With Lia she hasn't been affected AS badly with her previous teeth.. I just gave her some vidol teething powders and it seemed to help a bit. I'm using one of those little rubbery baby toothbrushes that I got as a gift - will switch over to a proper bristled one very soon. With my son I used a cloth over the teeth after each milkfeed until he was 1ish then I used a kiddy toothbrush and TINY bit of baby toothpaste.

Scribbling, I'm of the school of thought that if a dummy is only used sleep times, why stress about it. It is quite advantageous to have them use one if this is the case. It's not like she walks around with it in her mouth the whole day. I've seen a few kiddies almost 2 who walk with one in their mouth the whole time and you can't even hear what they say when they talk. Honestly, I would never allow that (if my kiddies liked a dummy).. but letting her use it at nighttime wouldn't worry me.
How's the crawling going - bet she's into everything. I still think she'll move onto walking very quickly. So cute she's trying to stand without holding :-). Lia is SO conservative... her balance is fabulous and once or twice I've let go of her hands without her noticing, she stood by herself, but the moment she realizes I let go she plonks down on her bum. She walks holding onto one of my hands but always wants a hand... looks where I am etc. Jordan was such a risk taker.. she's the opposite.

Beansmom... don't stress about it, soon enough she'll make a plan to semi-crawl, probably just to get herself up to a walking position hehe. As for the teeth.. I bet when she does get them she gets a whole bunch at once. My friend's little girl cut 6 teeth at once!!!

I'm keen to see if Lia will walk by her 1st bday. SHe only has a few weeks left lol.
She walks whilst pushing her brothers chairs (those small plastic ones) - she even takes his table for a walk (pushes it all the way across the room walking behind it). Too funny. BUT she has no urge to walk so it wouldn't suprise me if she waited a few months lol.

She's got this new annoying habit of taking her sippy cup or straw bottle.. and after she's done with it she tips it upside down and if I'm not looking, I'll turn around and see her splashing in a huge puddle of water!

Lia officially say Daddy (not dada any more).. and she still doesn't call me anything, no ma, no mama... Bah. How rude lol

Anyway, blah. Too much rambling. Am a bit sleep deprived but such is life. Hopefully tonight will be better.

Let me go get my 3 year old into bed.

Have great weekend everybody :-)
