Newborn and baby advice

Ha ha , Elamsmom I'm a bit of a pain in the arse. been brushing Emily's teeth since the start. I have a little baby tooth brush and then I use baby toothpaste - but it says on the tube from 12 months. Anyway, we've been using that. Just a bit concerned because she doesn't spit out the toothpaste. But before that we used the toothies wipes - you can get them at Baby City and i'm sure Dischem will have them. They're easy and convenient.

As for the pain, I was told that nothing really works, but I did give her a spoon of Calpol this last time, but because she had a bit of a fever. But i think it helped for the tooth pain too - next day they'd cut.

Beansmom, I'm with Elamsmom on the not worrying about the crawling. I did a LOT of reading and research when Emily wasn't crawling and you'd be surprised how many babies didn't crawl - and they're all just fine adults. 10 steps is fantastic!! Who needs to crawl when you can do that!!!

@Beansmom- if she is starting to walk, then why on earth are u still worried abt the crawling!???? Maybe she just skipped that part...
My hubby also never walked (& ppl NEVER believe him when he tells the story). Whilst all the babies were crawling he just sat there and watched them to everyones exasperation. Next thing, he just got up and walked!

Ladies, when my baby's bottom 2 teeth pushed through, she showed absolutely none of the regular teething symptoms. It was like one day no teeth But now with the top two! Shame, she seems to be in A LOT of pain. She actually cried last night!...not just the usual moaning she does (my baby's VERY lazy to cry & cries the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM she has to).

I do have a teething mixture I have been giving her plus panado, but wanted to ask what u ladies use for teething pains?

Oh ya, also wanted to ask what you use to clean the little toothies? Her dad is SOOOO worried about her teeth rotting and falling out so he's been pestering me to buy her something to clean them.

@Elamsmom - the lazy lady would be my little madam... she is walking quite nicely... takes about 10 steps on her own now... Mom and Dad are still a little nervous cos she tends to "run" which in turn makes her wobble and i'd hate for stitches!!!

Still NO TEETH and NO CRAWLING... Don't know what more to do about the crawling... we put her on her tummy daily and wait till the huge performance before picking her up and still no desire. She has pulled up onto her knees once.. but I think that was a mistake!

Scribblingal- wasn't Emily the lazy lady who wouldn't crawl till like a few weeks ago???or is that Beansmom? don't remember.

If it was Emily...wow wow wow! Clearly she likes to do things in her OWN time or she was observing and is now putting into action what she spent soooo long learning to do by watching...

They really do grow at their own pace hey! It shows just how much of an individual each person is even from such an early age. Elam crawled REALLY early like between 5&6 months but seems to be taking her time with the walking...showing no signs of wanting to do it without holding onto something two teeth at the bottom and two only now pushing through at the top. waves (it's hilarious tho!-she waves like the Queen of England! Heheheh ) ; says "ba-ba" as she waves which I assume means Bye-bye; says dada and mama and copies a few other sounds.

It's amazing watching their development. am enjoying every minute of it!

Yes our little thread is getting rather quiet. Adri, Emily is now on two bottles a day - one in the morning and one at night. I know it's not right, but I did have a little giggle at the tantrum. How is it going? Maybe she needs one big bottle before bed? Would this carry her through the night? Emily still goes to sleep with a dummy. It's going to be fun trying to wean her off that... I read somewhere that it has to be done before they are a year old, otherwise it's a nightmare.

Emily's suddenly developing at a rate of knots. She's pointing and waving - and has six teeth (four at the top), and is crawling like a champ. She's standing with the help of something (anything) and is trying to balance with no hands - it's quite cute to watch.

Ja, the time is flying by - Connor will be one in less than three weeks!!!!! We're going to have to change the name of this thread again.

Yep, this thread has been super quite!

With my LG, I put the bottle in the cot next to her and when she wants it she reaches for it in her sleep/ with her eyes closed and sucks till she falls back to sleep...it's absolute heaven not having to wake up anymore to give her the bottle. But I'm such a light sleeper I often hear the sucking sound and just have a peek to make sure she is ok,without getting out of bed. (Her campcot is next to our bed).

@Jacadebra: Kara doesn't point yet, but when I say where's daddy she looks at him, so she knows the word, but she says dadada even when she looks at me? One month and Lia is a year, can you believe it?? When they say we should treasure this time as it goes by fast they aren't joking!

I have stopped Kara's middle of the night milk bottle two nights ago. She used to wake up about twice a night to have a bit of milk. So I decided I'm going to offer her water instead. Night before last was a complete disaster, she screamt her little lungs out and threw the bottle accross the room...and this happended about hourly throughout the night. Last night she still woke up, but took the water immediately (guess she knows now milk is not an option)...so hopefully now we're on our way fo breaking that habit. I felt like a dog though...but it's in everyone's interest so I'm sticking with it.

@Pinky, how's Karla? Carl showed me a pic of her he took when she was at the office one day and she looks so cute!!
