file Newborn and baby advice

Hi Ladies,

So today is the day that I have to take my lil Ashlyn for her 6 week vaccinations. Nervous as I am not sure what to expect - only hear horror stories of how baby cries and to keep the Panado or Stilpain ready.

Is this true or just old wifes tales? According to me you cannot administer anything for the pain or discomfort as it might clash with the injections etc.

Oh well, at least the midwife at the clinic is very realible so will go on whatever she advises.

So here we go!!

I'm back!!! Done with 5 exams and now just the long wait for the results...but I'm hopeful that I'll make it and never ever ever have to study again. And even better, I'm off to the spa for the afternoon as an after exam treat :)

Kara is still cruising around on the furniture, and doesnt say much but dadadadada (Hubby reckons she's talking to him but I'm almost confident its just baby talk, I'll believe it when she says daddY.

@Jacadebra - good attitude on the cossie topic, I wish I had the confidence. I always take the towel RIGHT up to the swimming pool and jump in quickly, and hubby needs to stand ready with the towel right next to the pool when I get out. And congrats on the job!! Keep us updated on how it goes!

@ScribblingAl - YAY, well done for registering - JUST DO IT!!! You'll be happy when it's over. The suffering (oh how melodramatic :) is just temporary!!

@Bronz - hope it went (is going) well with your exams!! I wish I could take Kara to swimming lessons...I'm going to look around for something on saturdays.

@Beansmom - congrats!! That's a big milestone!

Congrats again Tayla & Beansmom!!! Has she been doing more stepping/ Walking? So exciting!! That's weird about the fever.. hopefully she was fighting some bug and did so successfully so it never even reared its head :-)

LOL, Scribbling, I forgot Emily is a roller... my kids were always too lazy to roll.

Claudia, I'm impartial on the Chickenpox etc. Lia most probably won't get Chicken pox vaccine either.

Bronz, glad you're settled in. Good on you for getting your studies sorted, yay. Congrats on Graeme's words.. so cute!

That's great that you guys did the swimming lessons. My kids LOVE water. Graeme obviously just needs you there to boost his confidence... totally understandable :-)

As for the cossie.... I think most women hate getting into one... but usually once you've got it on and you're swimming around, you forget about all of it and have a great time.. that's my feeling anyway. Life's too short to be feeling self conscious in a costume anyway... while one woman is worried about her small boobs, another hates her big ones.... some women worried about their extra weight and others feel like scrawny boys. The older I get the more I realize that perfection is overrated... especially in the physical form, because (a) there really is no such thing - it is just a social construct/illusion and (b) one way or another we will all end up old and wrinkled so who really cares. Might as well have fun because there ain't no rewind button.

I found myself a part-time job I can do at home. I'll be doing recruiting for focus groups for a research company. Not sure how much work I'll have but I'm excited about it anyway :-).

Lia's been after the toilet roll the last week. She LOVES unrolling it... then, even better... tucking in and eating it. Yuck lol. She is just fascinated by the toilet all in all.

Hope you all have a fab weekend!!!

Haha, I cant say the studying is going to well though. Its taken me 2 nights to get through 2 questions, there are 50. Oh well better get stuck in!

I am taking Graeme to Aqua babes in Glenvista. If you dont mind the drive I would defiantly recommend her.

I must say after I got in the water with Graeme he loved it! Not a single tear, not even when he went under water.

That is clever if she does that when she sees dad!! And it must look so cute. (Photo?)

Bronz, you are one brave lady, taking on the studying. Almost done!!! I went to Wits yesterday to re-register for this stupid research. By June I also hope to be done. Now just need to find the inspiration to get going.

Where does Graeme go for the swimming lessons? I'm dying to take Emily - she's such a little water baby. Yes, the dreaded cozzie. I also hate getting into one. Her dad usually takes her into the water.

You all have such clever babies! The only word Emily's saying is Waaaaah. And "ooh" (like a little monkey) when she sees her dad.

Hey Ladies

I have been a very bad forum buddy of late!

Bundle happy to hear Luke didn't get the pox.

Beansmom that great re the walking. Clever cookie. How long has she been crawling for before she walked?
I dont think the temp is from the new milestone... Is there a chance she could be teething?

Scribbling I must say that is pretty clever, why crawl when you can roll!

AFM I have settled in well here, just got my text books, so going to start studying now. 6 months and this degree is done!!!

Graeme started swimming lessons last thurs, he screamed his way through the whole thing and the subsequent one on Tues. The coach (my aunt, who took him in the water) said he was scared, clung ro him like a little monkey. So tomorrow's lesson I have to get in the water too. Like the idea of swimming with him just not the part about getting in a cozie.

Ooooh, Graeme started saying "ta" about 2 weeks ago. If he wants what you have he says ta softly and if you want what he has and say ta to him he copies you. Too cute. I must try catch it on video. My mom reckons he is saying mama whenever he wants me and is not with me. I have heard him say it but never made the connection.

I will come on tomorrow and fill in more. :)
