@ Scribblingal - this Friday she is 12 weeks... I've made sure that I don't get my hopes up... if she sleeps through or longer - bonus! otherwise its routine as usual... That way I don't get irritated with waking up.

Beansmom, yay on the 7pm - 12am sleep. There is nothing better than those first few glasses of vino after months and months of drought!! How old is Tayla now? Emily slept again until 6am, but from about 11pm as we'd gone to the mother in law for dinner. She gets a bit niggly from about 4am, 5am but we just pop her dummy back in and it keeps her going until about 6. Then I change her nappy and breastfeed her in bed and then she falls asleep so I leave her in bed with us until she wakes up again, usually about 8.30am or 9am. So far it seems to be working.

Hello Ladies

Wow we had a rough night last night. How many nights does a baby have to drop a feed before you can make it permanent? What I mean is Graeme went for about 5 nights of 7 till 2 and now he is waking up again at 12 for a feed. Can I enforce dropping that feed, since he did.

jacadebra: That is not lekker, Back on yet? Hope so for your sake.

Beansmom: So sorry to hear that.

Jacadebra, how are things going? Do you have water yet??? Can't believe that. Any idea why it was off for so long?

Hello there all...

Well - just got the news that my company has gone into liquidation - so going back to work no longer seems to be a problem for me :( Now to try and figure out what the hell I am going to do from 1 Sept!!!

@Scribblingal.. we did your routine last night.. and she slept from 7pm - 12pm.. better than normal... then 4am again for next feed... at least hubby and I managed to have dinner together and we could enjoy a glass a wine as well without doing a dummy run or another rocking off to sleep job! :)
So - tonight we try again!

Hi all,

Just a quick one to say all is still well! Kara was a bit difficult last week so took her to the pead and the conversation went like this:

Doc: "How many hours a day does she cry, one, ten or twenty?"
Me: "One"
Doc: "Oh, so there's 23 hours that she is NOT crying"
Me: "Yes, but remember, she's asleep for many of those 23 hours"
Doc: "Oh, so she sleeps well too"...

He really made me feel paranoid and silly but at the same time it was good knowing all is well.

I have to run now to take my little angel for her 8 week jab :(.

Hope all is well with everyone!

@Meags: Miami does sound awesome though!!! I would be so jealous if you go!!

Mrs SH my paed said start a routine from 5-6 weeks. she game me the following:
6am: wake and feed boob A
express boob B (60 mls)
9.30: feed boob A
top and tail, massage play etc. Offer boob B (usually ends around 11)
express boob B (60mls)
13.45 feed boob B
mom and baby sleep
17.45 feed boob A, bath, feed boob B then bed
22.00/23.00 dad gives expressed bottle while mom sleeps. Thereafter feed on demand until 6am and repeat.

My son dropped the 10pm feed so I get dh to do the bath and then give him a bottle and he usually sleeps 6-hrs (or 5-6 at 6w).

I love this routine. I've moved it 1 hour later as dh works later and shifted the 13.45 feed a bit later so he does 3.5 hours over lunch. I use this slot to go out/go for walks etc. In the late afternoon we sleep - either baba on me or in his pram. In the morning efore the double feed I can get house chores and a shower done. It is such a relief to know how o cannplan my days and baby took to it like a house on fire. Takes 2-3 days and be warned some babies don't like routines.
