What was said...

Well - lo has been a little off breastmilk the last 2 days since the formula top ups... so I get her to drink as much as she will with a fight then put her to sleep - and the next feed she is quite hungry so feeds really well on the boob... so last night MIL once again looked at me and said she looks hungry (cos she had her hands in her mouth - they are in her mouth most of the day these days!) so I abruptly said she was fed at 4pm and it was only just after 5pm... so she said I should make a full formula bottle and give it to her cos she is def still hungry... so I lost it.. i screamed at her " she was good with the boob till now - she will be good with the boob again. I should never put her on your formula in the first place! and will stop it if I must!"
They have never seen me lose my temper.. so i think they were more shocked at my response that what was said really... but lets hope its the last i hear about formula.. I've actually asked DH to not mention anything re the feeding and formula to her when they do talk.. i'd prefer her to just mind her own damn business!

Anyway - so that is the story...

As for routine - MrsSH - i agree with desiree - 4 wks is a little early... my lo is almost 12 wks and we are trying to get into a routine altho they do have a mind of there own... just when we think we have a good routine going - she goes and has a growth spurt or just a bad day!

@MrsSH - welcome to our little thread - its great to have you here!! and congrats on your little Alex, hope to hear all about him.

4 Weeks is a little soon to be expecting a routine as yet, just go with what you are already doing, feeding 3-4hourly is a good start, so well done! and seems like Alex is sleeping really well already, you are very lucky! What you can do is start a good bath/bedtime routine - I normally feed Connor at 6:00pm, then bath him at 7:00pm and offer him a small top up feed just before bedtime, this seems to carry him through the night. A good bathtime/bedtime routine is great for settling them into a routine early on and they will associate it nicely with "sleep time". Because Alex is now 1 month old already, there is alot you can use for his cramps - I didn't find that telemanet drops and gripe water did much for the cramps, but I can speak from personal experience that Bennets Colic mixture worked very very well, it has a high alcohol content, but my Paed said it was ok to use and I've only heard very good things about buscopan - so either should do the trick really! Good luck!

@Beansmom - good for you!! just because they raised kids of their own, including our DH's, does not mean they can tell us how to raise our kids - honestly!! the nerve!! Glad you put her in her place, lol - also dying to know what you said.

@ScribblinGal - lol - good for you too! this weather isn't even funny, its very cold so WHY on earth would she want to unwrap Emily!!

Ok, Im off to Dischem to go and buy some EMLA patches, Connor goes for his 4month injections on Thursday and I need to be prepared!!

My beautiful baby boy, Connor Troy, was born on 20 March 2010 and my 2nd gorgeous boy, Cullen Reece, was born on 2 September 2011 - I am very blessed indeed

Sorry - another question, what did you use for cramps?

Alex is a very good baby. We are sleeping average 6-8 hours a night (interupted of course, but still...!) and he sometimes have mild cramps in the day time. I just want to know when I should start thinking about a routine - 4 weeks still sounds a bit early and I think he knows the difference between day and night if I look at his sleeping pattern.

The nurse said to give him 2 mls of buscopan if gripe water and telemant drops don't do the trick.

I'm sorry if you've covered it already - you know how it goes - only a few minutes available to go online...so can't go back and check your previous discussions.

Thanks ladies!

On the S26 Gold at least their poos aren't supposed to smell all that bad. Jeez, you should get a whiff of the Nan HA poos! Emily's poos can get pretty runny too - hence all the angry posts about nappies (PS Pinky, on Pampers No 3s now and they seem to be much better. Bought Pampers Premiums the other day and will try them out soon). 1 hour isn't too bad. Next thing you know she'll be sleeping through :)

Desiree I'm also keen for a get-together. I start work mid-August (although it will be working from home initially). But it will mean that Saturdays are out for me then. When would suit you best, seeing as you're back at work?

Hi ladies,

Sorry for butting in. My boy Alex is 4 weeks old. I'm breastfeeding.

When did you settle into a feeding/sleeping routine with your little one? I'm feeding on demand (roughly on a 3-4 hourly basis during the day). What time is your bath time and what time is your last feed?

Thanks!!
